Looking for 1 for Steal Your Folk if anyone ends up with extras. Also would be interested in 1 for Mavis or Hiss Saturday. Got shut out on the weekend, but managed to grab one for Tas-Jam Newport Eve.
Bruce Hornsby's tour dates align perfectly with this, so I'd wager a beer that we'll see him there. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Justin Vernon shows up as well, since his schedule is open and he collaborates with the Cook brothers all the time (and were childhood friends). In addition, Justin actually guested during a Dead & Company show last year, which was something:
Looking for 4 Steal Your Folk I guess. First time trying to buy these and that was pretty dispiriting.
I'm sure they've gone through a ton of options but it really feels like there's gotta be a better way. Even a lottery seems slightly more fair. They could even make the signup window open from like 10-10:05.

Or even queue requests once all are in carts. Seems a bit ridiculous to have to refresh constantly then it says available again only to tell you there are no tickets.

Maybe even different on sale days/times. Last year I got shut out of one of the after shows I had Tix in my cart for because I opened up two tabs (one for Friday show and one for Saturday show) to grab the shows I wanted. When I added the second one it thought I was trying to scam the system or something so they dropped the first set of Tix I had. Then when I tried again after confirming the one show everything was sold out
Lyte will be up for aftershows later today according to NFF twitter.
Good to know if I can grab a steal your folk ticket I'll definitely give up the two milk carton kids ones. And may still try for a Saturday show besides the deer tick

The Telluride Bluegrass Festival (TBF) does a fantastic job of distributing after show tickets. You rank which show you want for each night and how many tickets. They use a lottery to determine what tickets you get and ensure you don't end up with more than one show for each night. They also mail out fancy paper tickets. There is a robust trading market which allows different groups to consolidate and get everyone into a show together. The paper tickets also allow you to hand off the ticket to a friend if you're tired or partied-out.
Shortening the lottery entrance window would be a helpful innovation although 5 minutes might be too short.
Also, TBF has a very strong culture of never paying more than face value and encourages festival goers to call out scalpers. Individuals who try to pay more than face value for tickets are similarly shamed. I think that would work at Newport, especially for the 10-15% of die-hard festival goers who attend the after shows.
To my simple mind, it seems most of the hurdles that are put in place (no transfers, must arrive together, buying limits, on sale all at once) would be unnecessary with a ranked lottery, paper tickets, and a clear message of not selling above face.
Alternatively, putting some tickets up for sale in a dutch auction format would raise more money for the charities involved. This would result in higher ticket prices but I have a suspicion that the people who can pay more are probably the ones who are already grabbing most of the tickets (fast computers, fast internet, able to take time at 10am on a weekday to buy tickets). If 20-50% of tickets were sold in this manner I think it would alleviate some of the insanity while also keeping prices reasonable for those without the ability to pay exorbitant prices. However, I don't have access to the numbers of people who try and get tickets so I can't say for sure.
Anyways, I was able to grab some after show tickets. It's not a perfect system but I am glad they host the shows. They're a highlight for me every year.
anyone ever done Avetts at teh Beach? They just announced for 2020 and lineup in Avetts, Ed Sharpe, Shakey, Dawes, TBT, Wood Bros, Mandolin, Langhorne and more

This will be my 3rd year. First time they're doing it in Punta Cana. I thought both years in Mexico were amazing. Nice little February / March vacation festival.

thanks for the heads up. hopefully my friends actually read their texts and jump on lute. feel like if you're in there before they blast it to social media you're basically guaranteed to get tickets
Thanks for heads up on Lyte, put my MCK tickets up. Hopefully can make someone’s after party wish a possibility. Super stoked for Steal Your Folk. Already drafting possibilities of guests: Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band Benmont Tench Warren Haynes Justin Vernon Lukas Nelson Todd Snider The Watsons Brandi Carlile Jeff Tweedy Jim James Dawes Kevin Morby Josh Kaufman Phosphorescent Bruce Hornsby Sharon Van Etten Hiss Golden Messenger

Any other suggestions?
All of these seem very feasible to me, personally - especially when taking into account my earlier post today. I think we'll see a set similar to the "Day of the Dead" set at Eaux Claires.
Since Warren and Phil are both playing on Sunday at the Peach, it would make sense that they'll stick around for this aftershow. I'd add Grace Potter to that list, since she'll be with Warren on Sunday at Peach and I could absolutely see her showing up. Also, I'd potentially add Bob Weir, since his schedule is open.
Feeling good about getting through on at least one of these
Agreed.
Currently I have:
2 x Milk Carton Kids for Friday
and
2 x Deer Tick for Saturday.
But with Lyte I put in for:
1 x Steal Your Folk for Friday
and
1 x Mavis staples for Saturday
My spot in the lyte line is 50 for steal and 28 for Mavis. If I can get selected for these I should be able to easily get rid of the ones I currently have. And if I don't get these through lyte then I have backup plans already.
I am really happy they started setting up the Lyte system. If only some of these after show venues had more capacity so more people could get tickets.

Mavis Jonathan Wilson since he's at the Hiss aftershow William Tyler would be cool, and is massively overdue for this fest

This will be my 3rd Newport and my first time trying out the aftershows! I got some confidence after doing one of the Shaky Knees aftershows a few weeks ago in Atlanta. I'll be going to the Hiss / Mountain Man / Jonathan Wilson show on Saturday and I'm #30 in line for Steal Your Folk.
