For the Saturday Closing Collaboration we now have:
Brandi (assuming she sticks around) Mavis Judy Sheryl Crow
With rumors around: Stevie Nicks Joni Mitchell Bonnie Raitt
Possibly joined by:
Maggie Rogers
Jade Bird
Lucy Dacus
Mountain Man
Yola
Haley Heynderickx
NoName?
Courtney Marie Andrews
Rachel Price
Rhiannon Giddens Kacey Musgraves more...
Hell why not throw in Dolly Parton as well.
Could see Margo Price making an appearance although she is about to have a baby so maybe not.
Realize while I am typing it that there is no way all those other artists make their way into it other than maybe a big closing number. That being said, just the first four make for a historic night.
Feeling a little bad for Jeff Tweedy, Dawes or whomever has to close the Quad stage against that. I have to think that they would rather be watching this historical set.

I figure Dawes will be the House band for the Collaboration
She was on Marc Maron a few months ago and was chatting about how she’s back in the studio, wouldn’t surprise me to see her show up for North Hills or the colab

Just to play Devil’s advocate here for a second (you know I like to play this role; although I’m not always good at it).
I just don’t see Mavis as one of the main collaborators in whatever this set ends up being. It just seems like asking too much for her to perform this set and then an hour or two later, her perform another set at the after show. (Although I wouldn’t rule her out as a guest on a song.)
Do we really suspect that Sheryl, an artist who has never played Newport, will get a third primetime spot? She already has her own on Friday. And plays bass with the HighWomen. Surprise guests who have collaborated with her could just as easily play during her Friday set.
Similar thinking for Brandi. She gets two headlining sets?
I do like the notion of Stevie or Judy. But similarly, Saturday is the “hip” day at Newport. It would be a real change of pace to the rest of the day’s schedule to switch over someone like Judy. Stevie at least has some younger appeal, similar to Jeff Tweedy. (but it would be strange to confine Judy’s fest appearance to the Museum Stage).

Could Mitski be a possibility? Her "last show indefinitely" will be in September with Lucy Dacus. She played High Water (a fest with a ton of NFF crossover), and definitely bridges the gap between indie rock, folk, electronic - and is a feminist icon to boot. Plus, with her sort of mysterious aura she puts on accompanied by her theatrical stage show for her "Be The Cowboy" tour, I could see her participating in a secret female collaboration set.

Just a thought!
It may just be my own wishful thinking, but I do find it strange that so many of these similar artists are available and/or in the area.
Would love to see something between Mitski, Japanese Breakfast, Soccer Mommy, and boygenius.

Actually Taylor just posted on IG that he and Griff are working on her record.
Good to see Ramblin' Jack back again. Reminds me of the great 2014 (?) fest.
TICKETS -- Lyte is suddenly dropping at least 5 spots a day for me now, just like last year. I am already set with two three-day passes, and two more duckets on Sunday, and may have extras.
Friday is a washout. At #252 for Friday, Lyte will come in, but possibly close to the fest (remember, people on Lyte fall out, too). Down to #154 on Saturday. So may have two available for Friday, and one each for Saturday and Sunday.
I assume I can somehow sell here at cost, or, ahem, swap for a Friday after show? I will make anything available here first, and just have to work on some kind of trust factor if we can't meet. In the NY area and probably arriving around dinner on Friday.
Just saying -- there are probably creative, fair ways for everyone here to get in if we work together with good intent.

I just hope Newport have expanded the Museum enough. More are going to want to see this than the previous announcement. What can the Museum take? 60 people? Could be thousands wanting to see this. As for my Bjork post. All I remembered was the venus symbols. I forgot its called the collaboration.

Museum probably holds 200. 6 chairs each side by 15 rows would be 180 and I think its more than that.
Kyle Schaffer In the feedback survey, I wrote that I wished they had a way of piping out the music to the crowd outside the museum (rather than craning our heads at the window). I sure hope they do this now!
Newport Folk Festival Newport Folk Festival We got something we'll announce on that front soon.
Perhaps they add a door, or knock down a wall (although our intrepid U-2 spy planes should pick that up). Even speakers would make that area un-walkable if they continue to add good acts to the Museum.
Another thought is doing something around the visitor center and push the gates back.
