21 hours ago you didn't know how the aftershows worked. If you don't have much perspective on the matter, there's no need to chime in.
Music is subjective - what's bad for you might be great for many others.
Why would my ignorance toward aftershows prevent me from making an observation that everyone complains?
Because if you're not familiar with what aftershows they've hosted in the past, how could you possibly know if me stating this is the worst batch they've had is valid or not?
Typically, the Lolla aftershows are packed with artists playing venues MUCH smaller than they would normally play. These would be special, initimate shows you wouldn't normally get to experience. This year, there is some of that, but the majority appears to be artists playing venues they would normally play in Chicago anyway. The only difference being these shows are happening later, after the fest. This has nothing to do with your taste in music.
They'll still announce some special shows, but no matter what, this will be a big step down.

I mean I think some of this is closer to personal tastes than this being an actual issue. The Vic is all acts that play 6k to 15k person venues. Lincoln Hall is acts that would play the Riv or Thalia. Kali is a stretch for the metro and there is less EDM since The Mid closed, but I think you are overblowing this

This isn't exactly inaccurate. So let's break it down:
Vic:
Rufus Du Sol's last Chicago show was at the Aragon, capacity 4500. Lauren Daigle's last Chicago show was at the Rosemont Theater, capacity 4400 Rivivalists' last Chicago was at Concord, capacity 1490
While I would agree Rufus and Lauren would fit into the "special intimate show" category, none of these artists could move anywhere near 6k-15k tickets in Chicago.
Let's move on to Lincoln Hall:
Lennon Stella's last Chicago show was at Metro, capacity 1100 Idles last Chicago show was at...Lincoln Hall Japanese Breakfast's last Chicago show was at Thalia, capacity 800 Sharon Von Etten's last Chicago shows were at Thalia, capacity 800, but it's worth mentioning she did two nights there. Still Woozy's last Chicago show was at Schuba's, capacity 200 (smaller than Lincoln Hall).
Other than SVE, I wouldn't consider any of these special intimate performances (and even that is a bit of a stretch), and certainly none of these acts could fill the Riv.
Like I said in my original post, there's some good ones mixed in, but overall these are not up to the standard they've offered in the past.
Wasn't able to get a Rufus ticket, so unless something cool gets added and I'm able to get a ticket, no after shows for me this year unless I end up at Smart Bar one night
Friday GA still not sold out. Hoping those prices drop on StubHub. This has to be the worst year for their sales in a long, long time. Probably 8 years at least.

they’ve raised the prices a ton I’m sure they are doing fine
Well financially yeah I'm sure they're not begging for change on the street. That's not what I mean. I'm just talking about in terms of passes sold, it's definitely their worst year in awhile.

This is the longest weekend passes have gone without selling out since 2010 I believe.
Wonder if that's telling of what's expected at their festival set. Fischer is playing 6-7 at Perrys on Thursday against Rufus/Hozier and Madeon is Saturday on AE up against 21P. For me Madeon is a must see and Fischer is a "check out if I can"
Wouldn't hate a small crowd for Madeon on Saturday night though.
I don’t think the lineup is that bad. The aftershows are definitely the most boring from the lineup but I would still have a great time at the fest itself
Looks like people here aren't into Hozier, but he is playing pretty big venues on his tour. His Philly show has capacity of 25K...I doubt I will attend this show, but I dont think this is a "bad" or "boring" show for the majority of people...

thats a bit misleading, as hes headlining XPN Fest which is at a Live Nation Amphitheater sized venue, but is still a festival. that festival day is also far from sold out

Even still, I think it's safe to say there will be 15K there. That's still much much larger than the 1,100 at the Metro...
For a fest with acts on the main stage, I think most will be there for the headliner.
I'm not really surprised there aren't larger acts playing metro. Why would they want headliners playing aftershows if they can't even sell out their days of the festival?
