If they shared Tame and Ariana they would be sharing Coachella's replacements. It makes sense that if we were to share two headliners with them that it be this year given the situation surrounding Coachella.
I'm itching to see the Foos and holding out that Lolla will deliver after Bonnaroo didn't .. I'm worried though about other artists that seem more likely. I could easily see it being Ariana - TOP - Kendrick or Childish - Tame as the top 4 names Ariana - Foos - TOP - Kendrick or Childish - Tame seems a little too stacked given the lineups this year. I wish this didn't sell out (usually) before the lineup comes out.

So Lolla is going to have Ariana Tame and Gambino just like Coachella?
I get some are replacements
But cmon, that just doesnt seem logical or make any sense. They will have to make adjustments so its not the same

Most people don’t go to both Coachella and Lolla in the same year. It’s really not a big deal if those acts play both festivals.

Im not suggesting that people go to both.
But to have the 2 biggest festivals in the US be identical with headliners is not doing your job as a promotor/curator/bookings agent.
It takes away from both festivals when they are the same.
Just call it Coachella "festival on the road tour"
Add in ACL while your at.
How does it take away from both festivals if you aren’t going to both ? Your logic makes no sense. The bookers job is to make money. Those headliners move tickets. Lolla is not going to tear up headliner agreements with Tame Impala and Ariana just because Coachella booked them at the last minute.
I am saying if they have the same 3 headliners as Coachella it seems a bit redundant and lazy.
Festivals overlap somewhat, but to have all 3 headliners be identical is not good press when they all just headlined 3 months prior at another festival.
Also, I doubt they have solid agreements in place for all of them yet.

I'd like to know how many really gives a dick about seeing headliners at Lolla, that were also at Coachella. Many months, and many miles difference. Lolla is mostly kids from the 'burbs correct? I'd be more twisted about an artist doing 2 arena shows in June, then coming back in a headliner slot ie: Ariana.
"One of the biggest complaints about festivals from fans is that every festival has the same lineup. I hear that nonstop."
Paul Tollett(Goldenvoice/Coachella) 2019
If fans wanted the same lineup in every city, then the travelling Lollapalooza format of the 90's would still be a thing.
Plus, what's the incentive for the webstream if viewers saw the headliners a few weeks earlier?
The same year he just booked Ariana to replace Kanye who was reportedly already supposed to be Lolla’s exclusive. I think the only headliner Roo, Lolla, and Coachella were supposed to share was Childish Gambino (we’ll see if Lolla does actually have him booked) meanwhile Coachella made the move to poach a headliner from Lollapalooza and bumped up another one because of drop outs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lolla come out with all 3. They have 4 main headliners so one would still separate them from Coachella.

That's Lolla/Live Nation's problem if they tore up an exclusive contract after Coachella got desperate.
Why not book Tame as a 5th spot headliner? Plus nothing stops them from booking Justin/Kanye.
Except Kanye dropped out of every festival he was possibly booked for this year because of stage demands. Justin Timberlake also had to have had a reason for backing out of Coachella, I don’t see Lolla booking JT and Ariana.
I don't think sharing the 3 is a legitimate problem, but if entertain the view that it somehow is, why is it Lolla's obligation to fix it?
By all accounts, Lolla had Ariana lined up first and presumably as an exclusive. They were trying to do something different and Coachella came in and stepped on their plans. If Tame is in the top 8 (and they would be if they play), they were also tabbed for a headliner slot before Coachella gave them the bump up.
So if all 3 are playing, only Childish Gambino would have been a shared headliner prior to JT dropping a little over a month ago. If it's a problem, it's one Goldenvoice created by trying to book a completely unreliable Kanye and not having a unique back-up in place for JT.
The Tame "bump up" to headliner was never a bump up apparently. "To put the Tame getting bumped rumor to rest a guy from paradigm just said they were always slated to headline but played this year instead of next when JT dropped out" per the Coachella inforoo board.

Live nation went after an exclusive, then gave it up to a competitor.
Why did they go after it in the first place and why have Lolla gone after various exclusives in the past?
Won't the sponsor of the webstream be unhappy about being scooped?

Goldenvoice had a $8mil or so budget/headliner hole(JT /LN contract end date?) with a month before the lineup drop - they have direct contact information for every major artist in the world including Ariana Grande - yet still decided to go with Tame/couple 2nd liners?

Dude. Shut up.
Not looking forward to bumble posts in every festival thread
Any shot Mumford swings back to Chicago for this? Their UC show sold out pretty much immediately and I feel like we see this situation every year where an act headlines that played Chicago in the spring.
Very annoyed that Bryan Ferry is playing the Chicago Theatre on the first night of the festival. If I don’t care about the Thursday headliners I might grab a cheap last minute ticket.

Death Cab seems nailed on with a summer tour that skips Chicago, ends mid July before LA on August 11. Osheaga, Lolla, OSL for sure. (also posted in Osheaga)
