Not impressive in person, either. I’m about to leave early.
What happened with Sky? I'm betting on it being some sort of sound issue, but not sure what was happening there
She showed up 20 minutes late, there was some kind of technical problem that she complained about after every song. Not sure if it’s Pitchfork’s fault or hers. Her set was pretty good other than that though.
Like making everyone wait an extra 20 mins baking in the sun? Or her in ears?
The HAIM hate is unrelenting it seems, ya’ll got issues. If they were at lolla, nobody cares, but at p4k, blasphemy.
I don't think the setting matters very much, it was just boring as hell. But if you are comparing it to Lolla, then yea, it is worse at p4k. Lolla has 2 headliners and a boatload of other stuff going on. At p4k, you either see the headliner they book or head back to your headquarters/after party at 8:30. HAIM is the worst headliner booking they've had in a while. At least Lauryn Hill is solid once she shows up.
Weather delay or cancellation? Looks like some strong/severe storms nearby, but would they move through? I was watching some of Parquet Courts and wanted to see Stereolab and Freddie later. :/

Glad they were able to get things back off the ground! Freddie Gibbs looks fun as hell now, gonna listen to Stereolab and B&S after while I get some work done
Lots of covers in that Isley Brothers set and maybe one or two really slow R&B songs, but that was pretty fun. Good to see the old guys get some respect from the crowd.

Had a blast yesterday! Weather cleared up really nicely after some early ugliness, and I didn't see a bad set all day. Started off with JPEGMAFIA (exactly what I expected in the best way possible), then hit up Khruangbin (dope) and a bit of Whitney and Neneh Cherry.
Had to leave Charli XCX early to get a good spot for Robyn, but would absolutely pay money to see a full set from either again. Charli in particular was just 100% energy and fun the entire time, and of course Robyn is a true living legend. I was squeezed tight enough I couldn't move too much, but Love Is Free > Dancing on My Own was just spectacular!
Also, had my first-ever irl Inforoo meetup with Fred and stinkyfingers, both of whom were very pleasant company

Really sad I had to miss all of Sunday (especially with Neneh being one of my main reasons I traveled out) and half of Friday but wow I do really love this fest. Excellent sets from Pusha T, Low, CHAI and Belle and Sebastian. Fully admit I was wrong in doubting Haim and The Isley Brothers, I had a great time at both of their sets and it sounds like Robyn destroyed too.
Totally worth the trip for Stereolab at Thalia and on Saturday. Their hour and a half set at Thalia went by so quickly, they sounded absolutely amazing and their set list was close to perfect. I'm so grateful the weather calmed down for a gloriously sunny set on Saturday too.
Everyone at this fest is so respectful and into the music. The Blue Stage seemed like it got some much needed love and improvements and ended up being my favorite area. I'm hoping I can make this a yearly tradition going forward so maybe I'll see y'all there next year.
This was a great weekend! Other than the climates, I had very good time. I am very exhausted right now and struggling in the office, but it was worth it. Saw so many sets, did two aftershows, and met with stinky and Nathan Fieldcяab , both are very nice folks! Without further ado, here are my favorite sets:
1. Robyn 2. Stereolab (aftershow, although some parts were blurry because of, ehem, so many shots) 3. Charli XCX 4. Neneh Cherry 5. Julia Holter 6. Cate Le Bon 7. CHAI 8. black midi 9. Standing On the Corner 10. Khruangbin
HM: Low, JPEGMAFIA

This festival was such a blast. I haven't been since 2016 but it seemed like the only notable change was that you can use your credit card for beer instead of just buying those stupid tickets? That was so much more convenient lol. I was so drained after this weekend, way more than I thought I'd be which has me very nervous for Lolla lol. Very cool to chill and shoot the shit with Fred on Sat/Sun and Nathan Fieldcяab on Sun, always down for an Inforoo hang now
Friday:
It was soooooo fucking hot. Pretty sure this day and the start of Saturday I immediately sweat off any sunscreen I put on lol. Rico Nasty was hype, I just wish she would've actually rapped more instead of just letting her vocals play through the speakers. Kind of wandered around after Rico and looked at all the shops and vendors throughout the park. Then we posted up front for Earl since that was my girlfriends main reason for going. Sky across the field was some kind of clusterfuck, I think we both just tuned it out because she was so late and kept complaining the whole time. I'm not going to lie, Earl seems like someone I should like live, but man I just thought his set was so boring. IDK what it is about him because he raps every word and seems like a chill dude but I just had trouble staying engaged. Then we found a nice pocket of shade right in front of the green stage sound board for Pusha T. He was my favorite performance of the day, even if he was a little late. So happy I finally got to see him. After this set we sat down for Mavis Staples. I told my girlfriend she'd recognize more songs than she realized, and I was right. It was cool to check her out in this environment, I probably wouldn't have paid for one of her shows. I was more excited for HAIM than the girlfriend, so we just chilled in the back by the sound board (this day really wasn't that crowded at all) but we still had a good view. They have a good live shows, nothing crazy but very enjoyable I was more than satisfied.
Saturday:
Had a busy morning, but got there a little after CHAI started. Met up with Fred during this set. I thought CHAI was fucking awesome, so glad I discovered them through this festival, definitely gotta see them if they roll through again. After CHAI we both agreed a shady spot was the play for Cate Le Bon lol. I could feel the sweat dripping down me even just sitting down lol. Went to Jay Som for a little bit, she was fun. Went over to see the last couple of songs of Parquet Courts with Fred, and then they announced that they'd be closing the fest in 20 minutes after they cut PQ set. We got rained on SO hard lol, my poncho didn't stand a chance. Luckily Fred was able to buy one right outside the gate. We walked to cobra lounge but many other people had the same idea, so we barely got a spot outside under an awning. When it slowed down raining we decided to walk over to goose island brewery to have a beer, there was a short wait to get in but it wasn't really raining so it was fine. Had a beer, then I realized that if they'd be opening up the park again the security pat downs wouldn't be as strict. Made the smart decision to buy a four pack to go, shoved it in my bag and waltzed right on through. The music started up again with Stereolab and Freddie Gibbs. I got near the front for Freddie. Best set I saw on Saturday, sucks he only got to do 30 minutes but I'll take it. Met up with Fred again for Belle & Sebastian, they were cool. We stood near the back for The Isley Brothers, they were actually a lot more fun than I thought they'd be. I had a great time overall this day, even with getting rained out for a bit.
Sunday:
More storms to start the day, so they pushed back the time gates open and as a result Dreezy got cancelled, bummed to miss her. Got there during Flasher and met up with Fred, they were a fun way to start the day. Black Midi was very interesting after them. They were vacuuming the water on the right side of the main stage so it would be clear for later in the day. I had a lot of trouble understanding the lyrics, but Black Midi was about what I expected in that they were really weird but cool. JPEGMAFIA was after them, I got pretty close for him. He's such a good performer, a fun personality and definitely puts on an entertaining show. I had high expectations but he actually surpassed them, great time would see again. After peggy me and Fred met up with Nathan for Ibeyi, fun to chat and listen to a band I wanted to see for awhile. Ibeyi are great performers too. We got decently close for Khruangbin, they were a band I wanted to see for awhile too and even had tickets to one of their shows but had to sell them when other things came up. Wasn't sure how they would sound in the middle of the day at a festival but they were fucking sick, I was dancing damn near the whole set. So groovy, I need to see them at their own venue show. I went solo for a little bit to Whitney since I knew someone playing in their band, and I've never seen them before so I figured I'd check them out for a second. They were fine, I get why people really like them. I left to catch Neneh Cherry though and met up with Fred, and ohmygod Neneh Cherry was awesome. So dancey, she knows how to work a crowd for sure. Definitely not mad that I left Whitney for her lol. I don't really know a lot about Charli XCX, so I just stood by the stage waiting for Robyn. Feel like if you're reading this you have a pretty good idea of how Robyn's show went, and yes it was a fucking spectacle. Very dancey and fun, and I also really liked her other dancer she had on stage with her that was a nice touch. She definitely met all expectations I had for her show.
Random thoughts: - Glad they had plenty of free water available all weekend, they're notorious for not having a lot of water refill stations - Not as many food options as in the past I feel like? - The Parquet Courts beer collab with Goose Island they sold at the fest was excellent - Didn't think the merch options were that great. Also seemed like not many artists had their merch there? - Granted I got there pretty early each day, but never had to wait long to get inside. Normally their security pat downs are pretty lax, most of the time I was able to sneak in a lot of alcohol. I had a strict girl patting me down on Sunday though, had to chug my drinks before I was allowed in =(
HAIM is the worst headliner booking they've had in a while.
HAIM 2019 is worse than R. Kelly 2013? P4K actually issued a formal apology several years later for booking him.
Yeah that was way worse, especially since even back in 2013 there was outcry about booking R. Kelly at a hometown festival super close to where his victims lived.

They were my least favorite of the three that year (though to be fair, the other two were Sufjan and fka Twigs). Can't speak to OP's original intent, but it might be a case of them liking the band and their show but feeling they were too small to be headlining
