Lots of different ones depending on stage and act. It's a party festival in the middle of the city, so know that going in. But they made it 17+, so not so many little kids losing their shi* in/on the crowd. Ballroom is a chill concert hall but can get wild with some rap acts. Power Plant is the main stage and depends on what's on; Float Den is more the warehouse/wild party side of things. There's a lot of cool shit going on outside in some of the walkway areas. The riverside stage will probably be more house and smaller rap acts. It's kind of hard to not have a good time there if you like the lineup. Also, most people you will encounter there will be pretty friendly.

Sounds good. Trying to replace Coachella with something around that time of year. iii points is out of the question because of work so i think i might head down to this instead. plus nola is the best place ive ever been to.

I live about an hour away. We were able to leave Sunday evening each year, grab some food, shower, and sleep in our own bed by 10pm. It was magnificent. I sure hope it comes back.

Nice. It was a long journey there and back for us but it was so worth it. I hope it comes back as well.

Buku is a 12 hour trek. LOL. I haven't made that far of a journey for a fest since Roo '15, so this should be interesting.

It was slightly more than 11 for us and Bonnaroo is like 9 or 10ish. I am not sure how long you are planning due that drive, but if you are looking for activities I might have some tickets to stuff.
this is looking like one of the best, "bang for your buck," festivals this year
It’s a good time if you like rap and edm. They mix it up a bit and try to stay on the edgy side when it comes to rock and indie. I’ve seen some wild shit there over the years that only (in New Orleans) would have been at Buku. Prices go up at midnight tomorrow. One cool thing for me is I can see the Power Plant from my office window. Here you go:

I take Convention Center Blvd to Tchoupitoulas entrance and get to see it daily. Love that view!

yup, after seeing governors ball and boston calling lineup this was an easy pick.
Daily Lineups will be released tomorrow. I don't know if that will come with adds, or if they're going to add anything else (even if later) or if this is the final lineup. Spera said there were more adds coming, but who knows if they'll just pop up tomorrow or if they'll come later if there are any.
As of now:
Friday - Lana Del Rey, Excision*, Kevin Gates, RL Grime Saturday - A$AP Rocky, Dog Blood, GRiZ & Louis the Child
* Excision is also playing that night in Houston, so you’d think he will be much earlier than he should be at Buku.
------------------------------------------
I decided to look back at all my predictions for this year in this thread to see how I did. I don't remember all that I posted, so I'm going to look back from Page 1:
Excision - Got that one Skrillex - Got part of that (Dog Blood) A$AP Rocky - Got that one M83 - Wishful Thinking GRiZ - Got that one RL Grime - Got that one Gramatik - Did not get that one Earl Sweatshirt - Did not get that one Baauer - Did not get that one
By days are out. Adds to the lineup are: Earl Sweatshirt, Kero Kero Bonito (London Pop), Kasbo (Gothenberg), Yves Tumor, Sunsquabi, Mason Maynard (Manchester, England UK House/Tech DJ). I'll need to do research on all Yves Tumor's as I've seen his name thrown around a lot on Inforoo. Also, local act The Iceman Special (who is badass) has also been added. Acts I'm trying to see are in color. It's not going to be possible.
Friday:
Lana Del Rey Excision Kevin Gates RL Grime NGHTMRE b2b Slander Playboi Carti Claude Vonstroke Fisher Mayday Parade Toro Y Moi Death Grips Denzel Curry Ekali Tokimonsta Kero Kero Bonito 1788-L Rico Nasty From First to Last (DJ) Yves Tumor KIDSWASTE Sunsquabi Whipped Cream Dounia Mason Maynard SFAM CHARLESTHEFIRST Dabin Noizu AF the Naysayer Bawldwy b2b Boarcrock The Iceman Special Klutch Lleauna Trax Only (underground LGQBT collective)
Saturday:
A$AP Rocky Dog Blood GRiZ Louis the Child Ella Mai $uicideboy$ Dashboard Confessional Gunna The Black Madonna Earl Sweatshirt Getter presents Visceral* Yaeji J.I.D G Jones Liquid Stranger Oliver Tree Kasbo Peekaboo Papadosio Earthgang Roy Blair Doja Cat We Came as Romans Mersiv Duskus Jantsen Kittens Xie James Seville Lil Jodeci Malik 95 Thou Tristan Dufrene Unicorn Fukr
* I always laughed at Getter and never had any interest in seeing him. krisplettuce was the one guy who always stood up for him while postjack once said he'd never go to any festival again (particularly Bonnaroo) that has Getter. So I blew him off. Someone told me a while ago that he's actually halfway fun if not a bit generic. So I put on Visceral the other day and watched about 15 minutes of it before I had to do something else. Looks like a rotating 3D skeleton with flowers and shit. Music wasn't terrible, so this is a maybe pass by.

Friday: Excision / Claude Von Stroke / Death Grips Saturday: Dog Blood / The Black Madonna / Yaeji / G Jones
Friday is a no go for me for work but I might actually dip over to New Orleans on Saturday to catch some of those artists. If I can catch Dog Blood, The Black Madonna, and one of Yaeji or G Jones I think it will be worth it. It's been a few years since I've been so not sure how the schedule works. esteban do you think it's possible Dog Blood and The Black Madonna conflict? I'm assuming there is a chance for Yaeji and G Jones to conflict since they are in similar spots on the lineup.
edit: i'd be cool with catching Griz on Saturday as well.

I don't know. They have 4 stages, but only usually 3 are running at any given time. I think Dog Blood will be on the main stage, and I'd bet Black Madonna will get an afternoon set in the Ballroom or it's possible they have her spinning on that riverfront/houseparty stage at any time. The schedule probably won't be out until early March, but you never know if maybe they'll let it loose a bit early. Also, I meant to ask you about Yves Tumor. Seems like a weird and bizarre show. I'm figuring you've seen him before and wanted to ask you on that.

Also FYI, Fisher is Claude's boy, and Mason Maynard looks like a house DJ from London. I watched a few minutes of his boiler room set.
They’ll start rolling them out in February and probably up to the last week before the fest. They will probably be at the Republic (Warehouse District) Joy Theater (Canal Street), Gasa Gasa (uptown) and Dragons’s Den (near Frenchmen). There will be two nights of shows at each venue most likely with Dragons Den doing something also on Sunday. They have (in the past) had unannounced DJ’ sets by Skrillex and others. Some shows will go to sunrise, but most will end around 5am.
As for conflicts, they always have them. Except if you get caught by the occasional train, it’s only 5 minutes walk from stage to stage. Train runs in between main stage and the others, so that only matters if you are trying to get to or from the main stage. I caught one last year early and it took about 8 minutes to pass. No big deal. But just the same, if you like more than a few acts like me, there will inevitably be sets you’re going to have to skip ot split. Fest runs 3pm-1am so it’s a good 10 hours each day. I rarely get dead time because besides the announced shit, they have other random acts and bands that play in a spot along the river that tend to be good. They usually bring in a hippie sitar band and a husband wife violin team to play there among tons of other shit they don’t usually announce. It’s definitely a fun time with some sensory overload.

Hoping brownies & lemonade do an after party with dog blood that goes all night. I am owed one!
Saw them in NYC last year for webster halls closing, but my girlfriend got a too bit out of hand and ended up blacking out
:-(
ekali opened, dog blood did a set, and skrillex played until 6 am

The train passes through?! That's awesome. The day lineup has me realizing I am definitely not going to be able to see everyone I want to see. After doing some research I've found a lot of new artists I'm into. I'll post all the ones I want to check out after this super crazy work week/weekend passes.
I am a little nervous about Lana. I've never seen her before, and I love her, but her live performances on YouTube (at least for festivals) are typically... less than stellar? She gets really nervous, it seems like. Also, I just know she's going to clash with Excision, whom my hubby will want to be up close for, but I can't miss my girl. Other than that I'm going to treat it as a "if we can see them, great; if not, ah well" type of fests, which gives me less anxiety anyway. There's a lot of talent here so that shouldn't be hard.
EDIT: esteban I just saw your post about Ex playing earlier than anticipated. He'll probably play then the same time/a little earlier than LDR, hop a flight, and play Houston by 1/2am. Or is that cutting it close?
Idk. I think they only do main stage til 10 maybe? It used to be 11, but I think it might only go to 10. If so, Lana would play probably 830/845-10 you would think unless they gave her a sunset set or something. Houston - I think is mostly strict 2, but I’m not 100% on that. So Excision might be like 6/7 if not a slim chance of being earlier. I’m thinking he will be in the Float Den but it would be badass to watch that in vip at main. But it’s got to be indoors if it’s early because of the visuals and lasers and chaos and shit. Haha. I haven’t seen Excision in a couple years and he’s easily one of my favorite djs. He kicks ass. I’d like to see Lana and I’m going to probably try to at least swing by there. But who knows? If it’s kevin gates in the ballroom or something that conflicts, that’s going to be tough for me to not be at.
Edit 1/18 - Peekaboo and Whipped Cream have swapped days, so now Peekaboo is on Friday and Whipped Cream is on Saturday. It's updated on the Buku site daily listings.

So the hubby and I are at odds about what time Excision would play. He's a diehard fan. I mentioned the tweet below to him, and he said, "he'd probably go on at 2 in Houston then. There's no way he's playing an afternoon/sunset set in NO." He thinks it'll be 8-9pm start time at Buku. He has a point, as he's a headliner; wouldn't you want your headliners to close the stages out?
However, if it's a hard 2 like you said- he'll realistically start at 12:30 in Houston, let's say - he would need to start at Buku between 6:30 and 7:30. But that seems crazy to me, because with him and Lana at half-overlap, who would go past 10? Kevin Gates/RL Grime maybe? That seems silly when Excision and Lana are the headliners.
They don’t put the biggest names to close the Float Den or ballroom. Last year the ballroom was closed by Isaiah Rashad and Flatbush Zombies. Float Den was Virtual Self and Rezz. Only the main stage is closed by their headliners and that ends at 11.
I think Excision plays 6 or 7 ish and then flies out. There will be 2 or 3 sets after him in Float Den. I could see RL or NM b2b Slander closing Float depending on anticipated litness.
He did say he was going to annihilate Buku regardless.

Interesting. Those times are exactly what I was thinking. I honestly hope it's earlier so I can catch both him and then Lana right after.
Do you think he'd bring his Paradox stage with him, or would that most likely be in Houston since it's part of the Apex tour? I've been watching videos of the Float Den (maybe ballroom? Whatever Alison Wonderland was in last year) and it looked pretty big width-wise but possibly too short height-wise for the Paradox. I have no idea if it's LED panels or not, but I have seen it before and it looks way too crisp to be anything but.
I really don’t think Excision and Lana will conflict. I was wrong a few posts back as it looks like they still went to 11 at the power plant. So unless they change that, she will be like 9:30 or 9:45-11. You’d have to think Excision would be long over by then considering. But like we both said, if he’s playing Houston in some way super late, he could play as late as 9 or so. But that’s gotta be the edge. I think way earlier. I don’t know whether he’s bringing the tour set or if he’s going to do a random fest set. They also do the lighting different every year at that stage. So he might just use something Buku brings or if it’s Dog Blood’s or whatever. Idk.
