Man just got back and saw from where earlier someone said it was least packed it has ever been and can definitely tell after tonight that it was. I remember yesterday being like this is awesome it’s not so crowded to today oooo man the crowd for Gambino! Lol But day 2 was awesome got more good acl food. Saw Flora Cash, Denzel Curry, GCJ, 21 Savage, First Part of Gambino and 45 minutes of The Cure. Man Denzel Curry was awesome!!! Also Gambino of Course and The Cure were amazing but major sound bleed from Gambino. Great time tho! Tomorrow is a little lighter of schedule for us but saw where someone said beer hall with a cider that taste like a mimosa and may have just won my fiancé over with going there tomorrow now thanks lol.

It was me who mentioned the cider that taste like a mimosa. Austin’s Eastcider Blood Orange. Had another one today and was so refreshing.
Going to bed but will give Day 2 recap before heading down earlier to get rail for Kacey and Mumford. Good Night from Austin!
Day 2 down. Boyfriend and I were super worn out from jamming all day yesterday so we took it much easier. Started the day off splitting Denzel Curry and Sigrid. Both are awesome talent that I think we’ll be seeing grow quite a bit in the coming years. Denzel gave the kiddies a strong excuse to mosh, super electrifying. BF wasn’t into him tho, just kinda said he felt like he was being yelled at. Totally fair, so we strolled over to Sigrid. She seemed incredibly comfortable on stage for how young she is. 100% a rising star. Then we went over to Tierra Whack at TMobile and her crowd had MUCH more fans there than I would have thought. Lots of people dancing and singing most of the words. I loved that she played Whack World pretty much in its entirety. She also was giving away free shit and brought several fans on stage. Definitely not your typical rap act, much more interaction and performing than just mindlessly getting people hype by yelling “it’s lit” over and over again. (Although she does have the requisite annoying hype man who needs to just shut up half the time.) After Tierra was done we sat for a long while in different spots. Got the Korean+Brisket Tacos and they were pretty solid. Nabbed a beer from the beer tent and eventually moved to sit in the crowd for Kali Uchis. It was at this point that I realized how crowded this place really gets. My BF was getting a bit of human energy overload with the crowd density. We eventually migrated to sit under the AmEx flags and watched Gary Clark Jr. who really lifted the spirits of my guy. I’m not a huge fan of GCJ’s music but holy cow can that guy shred. Fantastic performance and a great act to watch from afar. We then climbed the hill over to Honda to catch some of Billie Eilish and it was the exact opposite experience. All you could hear was bass until you got to the Honda Flags. Then once you got there you could hear a little more of the beat but not a single word was audible from Billie herself. I’d like to blame it on her sound guy because she had a lot of energy and when you could hear her she sounded great but it just seemed like whoever was mixing for her had it all wrong. We left after about two songs or so because there really wasn’t any way to enjoy her set without venturing deep into the crowd of her rabid fans, and that wasn’t happenening. For all the talk about Billie doing another round of the festival circuit for 2020, her team REALLY needs to work out the sound kinks to make her set enjoyable to more than just her teenage fanbase that’s willing to crush bodies to get rail. She can’t headline if half the field can’t frickin hear her. Anyway, after we made the smart decision to leave that behind we journeyed over to the little VRBO nook. It was hilarious how the average age literally doubled once we left Billie’s crowd. Got some grilled cheese (very average, nothing special) then sat and watched Metric. I had done a little research into them before the fest but they absolutely blew both me and my boyfriend away. The sound was fantastic, crowd was super looose and dancey toward the back. Just phenomenal all the way through. Left with 15 mins to spare to get a spot at Childish, and just like my Coachella experience, we literally could not leave once he started. My BF didn’t have any clue who he was (didn’t even know This is America, yes I date a guy that lives underneath a rock) but he had an absolute blast. Donald Glover is just such an impeccable performer and he’s got such an eye for what works and he was ridiculously good. Also kept saying how amazing the crowd was and he brought up a really good point that made me appreciate the magic of ACL a bit more.
Sooooo many acts Day 2 kept saying how this is the last show of their tour, maybe even the last time in the US for awhile. It seems as though the shows you get here have had a lot of time to be polished and reworked from the tour experience. I think it also means that the artists put that extra little “oomph” behind their performance (if they show, ahem Megan Thee Stallion). Either way, Day 2 wasn’t quite as strong as Day 1 but it helped me really begin to “understand” ACL. Extra random note, where ACL really stands out are the sight lines. Even though I couldn’t always hear everything at some stages, I almost always felt like I had an impeccable view. Not sure if it’s just a result of the park, the overall layout, the stages, or whatever, but that’s definitely one big plus that I hadn’t heard anyone really talk about with this fest. Interested to see what Day 3 has for us. We’re probably gonna do a run of the “queens” today: Rosalia, Kacey, Lizzo, Robyn. Eager to see if Lizzo is just as much of a shitshow as last week and if putting her on the screens at Honda will make a big difference.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide

Day 2 was noticeably more crowded (it's the only W2 day that sold out), but I also never felt suffocated any point. Mind you, I only caught the second half of Billie's set and didn't try to penetrate the thick crowd. I'm aware of her fans' rabidness, so the loud singalongs and sea of phones didn't surprise me, but watching her get groped on the screens and have her ring stolen was really embarrassing, and she was rightfully pissed off about it. Her security team needs to do a better job of keeping her safe from such inappropriate behavior. She's 17 FFS.
I watched Sigrid, Brittany Howard, and Kali Uchis all from the back, and all we solid sets. Only set I got closer for was The Cure, who were perfect. I'm both surprised and not surprised that we got an identical setlist. Surprised because they typically mix it up (2013 got two very different sets), but not surprised because 2019 has been an exception to the rule, where they've exclusively been doing festivals and keeping the same songs. Was Simon's son playing Weekend 1 as well? That could very well explain it. Regardless, as I said, they were still perfect. "Burn" is insane live.
Day 3 is gonna be girl power day! I think the only non-female act I'm catching is Idles.
The crowd at Billie was TOXIC. We had to move away from several guys just shitting on her as a person, one guy literally said "I respect the guy", it was insane. Why even show up for a set of you think that about the act, just ruins it for everyone around you. Bleh.
Caught most of Sigrid, which was the perfect start to the day. Headed over to BMI for Dayglow - great energy, and the crowd sang along to every word. Grabbed some food before Brittany Howard.
Billie’s crowd made it hard to get a good view for her, so we went to get a good spot for Kali Uchis. This was the second time seeing her, and she killed it! Afterwards, we tried to see a bit of Billie, but the sound at the back was straight garbage, so we left for Masego, who was a much better time.
James Blake. Holy shit! I’m still blown away. Definitely best set of the weekend so far. I’m kicking myself for not making it to his aftershow.
The Cure were phenomenal, and I was surprised by how many songs I knew. The crowd was younger than expected too.
Yesterday’s weather was perfect, and really added to the day’s vibes.
Yall shouldve been at Gary Clark Jr! That man has paid his dues into becoming That Dude. His band had a small horn section and backup singers. He also showed Houston love when he brought up Trae the Truth for a 10 minute version of Bright Lights. Blackillac and the Peterson Bros came up for Come Together too. As a fellow austin guitar player it nearly brought a tear to my eye by the end of his set.

Agreed very glad i didn’t split up his and Billies show he was awesome as well as backing band!

thanks today was out chill day so we’ve got some brunch and about to head to the fest to get try it now lol. Light day for us compared to day 1 and 2. Rebelution>Caamp and break->Third Eye Blind first half> catch the end of Kacey> get a drink and spot for Mumford. Had planned on seeing Lizzo til i saw all the comments about last weekend and would rather try a spot for Mumford for my fiancé she loves them.
Someoneem groped and stole Billie's ring?? How does that happen???
I was Gary Clark so no where near that shit show. Only complaint was MeganTheeStallion showing up.
She got in the walkway and leaned onto the rail to pose with her fans and they just put their hands all over her and yeah one of them stole her ring.
wow, that's crazy. sounds like the exact opposite outcome of the weekend 1 show. When she did that walkthrough the crowd, it was very friendly and playful, she had a big grin on the whole time. Saw hugging but no major inappropriate groping, and the fact they mugged her stuff is really sad. Rabid fanbases are disgusting.

Robyn was the best show I saw all weekend. This year was exceptional. Amazing shows from her, Thom, The Cure, Lizzo, James Blake, Idles, Denzel Curry, Tame, The Raconteurs... Too many to count. Really loved this lineup and just blown away by Robyn and the Cure.
Ok, for those of you who saw Lizzo (and her massive ass crowd) how is the show?
She’s playing a day fest here (most festivals are day fests unfortunately 🙄) and tickets are $140. She’s basically the only person on the line up I really want to see and haven’t. The rest of the lineup is Kaytranada, BROCKHAMPTON, Madeon and a bunch of other people I don’t know. fomofestival.com.au/sydney
Is it worth it? Should I go? Help me decide! No one tours down here so when they do shows I feel like it’s my only chance for what could be years to see someone. But with Lizzo I can’t tell if the hype justifies the show.
I mean....her hype is real. Especially if you can get a true show. Like we raged at her set tonight but due to her stage placement we couldn't hear shit. I wish the could have relayed her music from the Honda Stage as well.
Also, she's only going to be more expensive right? Like she isn't gonna get cheaper.
Anyways....it was a banger of a night. Idles was absolutely incredible to start. That frontman brings an attitude, energy, purpose and voice I haven't heard in awhile. Lizzo by default was a splendor. Robyn was an absolute bop. More later.

Fiancé ended up feeling real sick yesterday after i made my last post so we actually never made it in the last day hate we missed it but hope everyone had a great time i know i still had a blast first 2 days and happy to have finally made my first ACL. I guess eventually i need to try Lolla now. Top 5 sets for me were: 1. The Raconteurs 2. Denzel Curry 3. Tame Impala 4. The Cure 5. Gary Clark Jr

Lizzo is a lot of fun live if you enjoy sing along and party/fun shows that are inclusive for everyone. It's some pop, some rap, some soul and whatever else she wants to do.
Brockhampton does nothing for me. I've tried to listen. I went to their set at ACL last year. I have watched them on streams. They are not very good live. In my mind, I think a lot of people like their messaging and what they're saying which maybe puts a shine on what they do live for them. It was literally the worst show I've ever seen at the 4 ACL's I've gone to.
FWIW, I don't think the lineup is worth $145 - at least not to me. Rico Nasty (Rico, Rico) is a pretty fun rapper live. I've seen her twice this year (including 2 weeks ago). She's not the greatest or anything, but she's kind of fun. Whipped Cream is a female DJ who is pretty generic. She dabbles across a lot of different styles including some hard stuff. It's not anything to hate on or whatever, but it kind of sounds like everything else.
I saw Kaytranada once at Day for Night and it didn't do anything for me. The friend that was with me was all in on it and said he thought it was great. So I guess it depends what you listen to.

I had an amazing 4-year run of avoiding post-festival hay fever that finally came to an end this morning. I feel like crap and have a 6-day work week ahead of me when I get home. But you know what? Worth it. Robyn took us all to church last night. I'd been waiting years and years to see her, and it lived up to the hype. I know she does the "Dancing on My Own" crowd a capella sing-along at every show, but it looked like she was trying to hold back tears from it last night.
Was able to sort of watch Lizzo's set from Robyn's stage, and while her music isn't necessarily my thing, she's great at engaging an audience. Hell, I'd pay to see her do stand-up comedy. She was legitimately funny as hell. Idles and Shura were solid mid-afternoon sets. First time seeing Kacey as well, and she was good, but you could tell it was also a very rehearsed performance by this point. She's definitely ready to move on from the Golden Hour tour cycle.
If I was underwhelmed by any set all weekend, it was Banks. I'm not extremely familiar with her music, but it felt like the type of performance that works way better in the dark and with a light show, especially with all the dance choreography. We ended up leaving early for Kacey.
Really chill festival. Feels refreshing to go to a festival and it not really be a party. Backstage viewing areas were great. Just wish the undercard was stronger so I would have actually came during the day and explored the other stages.

She definitely put on a hell of a show, and it was a lot of fun. We were about 10-15 rows back, dead center, right in the thick of it. The older I get, the less I enjoy the pushing and screaming and all that, but it was tolerable. Her crowd was gigantic, but, once she came on everyone was into it and singing along and having a blast. I would like to see what she can do with an hour and a half, as I miss her old rap shit and her sets prior to Cuz I Love You. But, if you love the album and get a decent spot, you would definitely love that show. She's hilarious, engaging, very authentic, and one hell of a performer. She knows her audience and carries a message of love that was powerful and didn't come across as shallow or trendy. Her voice was amazing and her dancers were cool too. I don't know about the price, just for her, but if you're a Kaytranada and BROCKHAMPTON fan, I think it's definitely worth it.

1. Robyn 2. Thom Yorke 3. The Cure 4. James Blake 5. James Blake (After show) 6. Lizzo 7. The Raconteurs 8. Tame Impala 9. IDLES 10. Denzel Curry 11. Julia Jacklin 12. Tierra Whack 13. Brittany Howard 14. BANKS 15. Shura 16. Taylor Bennett 17. Cherry Glazerr 18. King Princess
Ranking these is pretty pointless for me because a lot of it had to do with who we saw in better venues, my mood, who I like the most, our spot, the crowd around us, etc. But, Robyn really exceeded all expectations, and those first three were all my favorite shows and could be in any order. Disappointed I missed Rosalia, but I needed to eat and we wanted a good spot for BANKS>Lizzo. Also, we did half sets of Kaytranada and Jenny Lewis, who were both amazing, but I didn't rank them. I honestly can say we didn't see a bad set, and I am just so happy there was a festival that fit with our tastes, was such a joy to attend, and still had some surprises/acts I wasn't familiar with and hadn't seen before. Only 2nd time at ACL, and I would definitely come back. The Cure was my partner's favorite show.

Whew, Day 3 was a doozy. Definitely solidified why ACL is one of the “majors” in the festival scene. Boyfriend was super spent in the morning so I headed into the fest on my own. This felt like the most “normal” ACL day since it was pretty crowded and warm enough that I could walk around shirtless. Started with Shura who set such a great tone for the day. A bit lowkey but so much emotion. Absolutely perfect for those Sunday festival vibes when everyone is running on their last bit of energy. Left her once she finished to go see Rosalia and made the best mistake of the day: accidentally thought she was on AmEx and instead got served some Rebelution. Holy moly were their reggae vibes exactly what I needed. The crowd was really feeling it and again, felt like the perfect laidback vibe that I needed after an exhausting prior two days. Took a moment to go the bathroom near Tito’s and then stumbled upon they amazingness that is GoGo Penguin. I know a bunch of y’all were looking forward to them and I didn’t understand it until I caught them live. They were absolutely fantastic, such complex instrumentalism. I will say that their crowd was incredibly weird... they were playing great jazzy/groovy music but literally nobody was dancing. Kind of got the feeling that they attract a crowd that’s a bit too intellectual about their music for my taste. You do you if the way you experience music is by standing still and thinking long and hard, but I find it incredibly awkward to be the one guy dancing along and getting in the way of a tent full of statues. Regardless, I enjoyed them and eventually found my way to Rosalia at Honda and got all of the dancing I needed. Got there for her last four songs and everybody there had such awesome accepting energy. You could tell that a lot of people in the crowd were like “idk what she’s saying but her beats are SO SPICY.” (If any of y’all happened to be at that set close to the soundboard, I was the crazy person decked out in American flag accessories singing along in broken Spanish.) Overall she’s such a fantastic performer. I really hope she stays big and we get her for another festival tour on her next album cycle cause I need more of her live show in my life. Once Rosalia finished up I caught Wrabel at an intimate, acoustic set at BMI. Literally just a guy at a piano for the first two songs, then brought up a guy with a single guitar. He sang one of his more popular songs (11 Blocks) pretty early in his set and the entire audience was singing along to the point that he broke down in tears once he was done. You could tell he was incredibly humbled by such a strong reception at one of the smallest stages at the fest and it was such a great warm moment. About halfway through the set I dipped out and got some food and a drink (pretty sure this was when I got ribs from Salt Lick, soooo good). I then took a gamble and went to Fisher. I was initially against the idea since most people here and on reddit trash him for being the fratboy EDM act of the year, totally thought his crowd was gonna be a bunch of inconsiderate bros trying to mosh when they shouldn’t. Holy moly this crowd was one of THE BEST of the weekend. Literally everybody was dancing, lots of room to move, and soooo much group dancing with strangers. There was a nice part towards the end of the set where we got about 15 people together to make a cooking circle: just stirring some imaginary stew, throwing in ingredients then serving it to our friends around us once the beat dropped. The music itself wasn’t anything super special, it really was your typically fratboy EDM, but that set gave me the closest I ever got to Roo vibes and I was loving every second of it. Fisher ended and I did an immediate 180 for some good old Kacey Musgraves. Such a stellar performer and she sounds just like her albums. Really fun singalong time with yet another strong crowd who was really into everything. Stayed with her til close to the end and I ended up avoiding the Lizzo rush to scope out LANY. I discovered them on a whim during Roo ‘18, figured they’d be a good alternative to Lizzo and I was right! Since everyone and their mother was at Lizzo, LANY’s crowd was a bit on the smaller side but DEEEEEEP with fans. They sounded fantastic, the crowd energy was super strong and it was an impeccably planned sunset/dusk set. They relied heavily on really bright saturated colors on the screen behind them and as the sun went down the band started to turn into silhouettes in the colorful fog. I didn’t miss Lizzo for a second even though she was one of the primary reasons I bought my ticket in the first place. Toward the end of LANY I got a text that my BF mustered up enough energy to make it in to the fest. Unfortunately he was super heated since this was the only time he got a thorough security check all weekend and got a lot of goodies swiped. So I consoled him as we walked over to catch the end of GriZ. This was my first GriZ set and I finally get the hype. He really is on another level and very much felt like “elevated” EDM compared to someone like Fisher. Unfortunately we only had 15 mins with him, then my BF made the curious decision to have us watch Mumford and Sons. I knew going in that this wasn’t my cup of tea, but I was eager to see what it was about them that others find so special and worthy of a 2-hr set. Long story short, I didn’t “get it” and we left after the first 3 songs. They feel like the epitome of the folksy “White Dudes With Guitars” acts. Every song we heard sounded the same and seemed to have the same kinda structure (strum a lot here, belt a note there, provide a line that the audience can yell out in unison, repeat). Overall, it just felt very basic, but it definitely made sense to me why they’d be big here in Texas. I came to find out that my BF was only into seeing Mumford because he had a bad experience with an ex who played Robyn non-stop. He was hesitant to see her fearing those bad memories, but holy hell was her set so electrifying that he completely forgot about that dude. The production was super artful, she sounded amazing and the energy level was so incredibly high to squeeze every last drop we had left. I hate to say that she’s definitely not a huge draw based on the crowd that was there. To me it seemed incredibly thin for a headliner and we got there a little less than halfway through her set, and people were continuing to stream out the entire time. Still a fantastic booking though performance-wise because you could tell that everyone who showed up for her was having the time of their lives. And then just like that, ACL was over!
This has definitely become one of my favorite festivals out there and will be on my radar as I age. Everything about this fest (acts booked, schedule, crowd) seems super accessible for all ages compared to festivals like Coachella that skew younger. Probably won’t make this a yearly thing, but an exceptional lineup anything like this year’s will certainly bring me back.
Edit: Sorry for the wall of text! Lurker at heart, rambler when I get the confidence to post.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide
