Pretty meh for me. Haven’t seen the stones so that would be awesome. Herbie Hancock would be really interesting too. Dave is decent enough but overall this lineup isn’t doing it for me either
It's pretty much the same as it always is except very light on rap this year for whatever reason. Jazz Fest ends at 7:00 though, so the festival itself is kind of a something to do during the day part of what's really going on since we're a late night city.
Added night shows announced since yesterday:
Turkuaz - 2am Tipitinas second Friday (5/3)
Knower - 2am Tipitinas first Thursday
Karl Denson's Tiny Universe - Tipitinas 9:00pm first Friday (M&M's play 2am that night)
Galactic and Roosevelt Collier - Tipitinas 9pm first Saturday
So I am sort of underwhelmed. I have seen almost everyone already on this lineup. This is a very recycled year IMO.
We made the right decision to not go. The biggest reason to go is the Stones and they made it more expensive on their day.
$185 and capped tickets at a "comfortable" amount. I want to know an exact amount because JazzFest hasn't been sold at a comfortable amount since the late 90s. I remember being very pregnant at Dave Matthews almost in the race track thinking that they need to start capping tickets. Now you are lucky if you are in front of the race track to see a headliner. So, the real question is, what is comfortable according to Quint or whoever is running this thing now?

You are 100% right on capacity. They have been way oversold for years and no one says anything b/c they give so many tickets to the city departments.
Went thru the daily lineups, don't see any day that is a standout for me. I'm sure I'll go one day just for a hang, but that's likely it (unless they just waive me in.....).

Came here to see if I was a complete moron and overlooking it, despite reading every daily lineup, or if they didn't actually show what day my boy Seger was playing. Pretty underwhelmed like most of ya. I'll try for Stones tickets friday and may go the day Seger plays but it'd be nice to know which day that's gonna be.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10:00am for presale then public on Friday. I'd totally go to this if I wasn't doing the 3 night String Cheese Incident Package.
Also on that same date, Lettuce presents RAGE!FEST 2019 featuring Lettuce, Oteil Burbridge plus Soul Rebels @ Joy Theater. I'd go to this too and have the last couple of years.

That’s awesome. Ima try to watch a stream or two of the tour in the spring to make up for it. I think me and you both had them top Voodoo set in 2016. Fuck that was good. I’m bugging because I want two of those fn 185 stones tickets but it ain’t happening tomorrow. I’m going to have to try my luck on Friday and hope for the best. Fear is Ticketasshole and their scalpers will get these mfers up to like 500 or more. I’ll willing to pay whatever I have to, but if it gets up to over 5, I’ll just ride a bike over behind the track and listen.

My girl that I stay with for ACL is texting me about the RS tickets. It would be awesome because we haven't been together at JazzFest for at about 15 years. Yeah 15, Katrina...16 this year. But I can't swing $185 and standing in line for hours on a workday and RS don't do it for me to try that hard if it I wasn't able to get tickets tomorrow. Merm.

I need verification about the Rolling Stones. I heard a rumor today that the Rolling Stones are playing in a tent, that you have to buy a day pass AND the RS ticket and that at 5pm they are kicking out anyone without the RS ticket. Did anyone else hear this? That is some bullshit if true.
No. That's rumor bullshit twisted from the announcement. Even the main stage is a tent over the top. The ticket price for that day is $185. I didn't get any today because there were over 5,000 people already in line when the servant I sent there arrived. There will be a full festival day up to 5:00 or so when the other stages will shut down leaving only Acura unopposed. Tell those Trump voters to stop spreading rumors. Haha
