As long as we have Rihanna I’m happy. I said Travis would headline in 2021 but why wait that long I guess. I could see him being a headliner next year as well. With those 2 I don’t care about the 3rd. Make it vampire weekend or Elton or the Stones or whatever
Travis would need a new album. Headlining off of Astroworld would seem like a lazy booking. Sloppy seconds. I hope they can work something out with Kanye.
Oh I wouldn’t even consider it without a new album. That’s why I said 2021 but I see him dropping an album before next spring.

Any chance that My Bloody Valentine is one of these sprinkled acts that actually have merit? They’re a lot more interesting than the late 2000s and mid-2010s p4k fodder that shows up on the top lines. Would be a booking equivalent to Aphex Twin and David Byrne in terms of legacy status, rarity, and exclusivity. Thats if a new album actually does arrive.
Lol. Number 1 most popular artist still in the world. Drake isn’t good live but he will headline again in the next 5 years. 200K tickets don’t sell themselves.

We’ve only had one repeat headliner in the last five years. Repeats in general are rare these days, and I can’t imagine them going back to Drake after the disaster that was his 2015 set.

Last year he immediatly sold out 2 nights in the biggest venue here, 3 nights in the Netherlands even. On this tour, both only one night and both not even sold out. He's cooling himself of by touring this much. He's been everywhere for the past, what? 3 years.

I don't think we're in line for Drake in 2020, for the reasons mentioned, but that train is coming. There's only so many acts that can anchor a lineup they're trying to sell 250,000 tickets for.
Bare in mind they did that with Tame Impala this year (granted Grande was probably top bill). Not saying Drake won’t be back, but they could easily keep this boat moving without him.
Drake for the not immediate, Coachella future! Just gotta walk Timberlake off the plank first.

They also had mountains of unsold W2 tickets. Those are related phenomena.

And W2 didn't sell out...imagine what happens when they try to sell more tix and or raise prices.
W1 "sells out" easier b/c there are lots of people who get free tickets due to being famous/in media. And it still has the glamour of being W1.
I think it would’ve still sold slow with Timberlake or whoever in their place.
If it was JT and Kanye instead of Tame and Ari, they would have easily moved tix and tickets wouldn't have been selling for 320-340 range on Thursday before W1 POST stubhub fees (220-240 before is insane)
There’s obviously a lot more to it than, “Tame Impala headlined this year”.
Sure, festival bubble popping and Kanye dropping both were bigger factors (even if Ari>>>Tame in terms of draw). But Tame (who were great this year and totally earned that spot from a performance standpoint) were a big piece of the reduced draw too.
I just think we are overestimating the drawing power of Man of the Woods-era, Timberlake at an event like this. I’d almost say Tame is better suited to accommodate their fan base at this point. Kind of reminds me of LCD at Bonnaroo. This lineup (while everyone had a great time) just wasn’t what veterans expect from this festival and plenty skipped out. Would they have been better off getting some time tested electronic acts or bands from JLH? Maybe so. Granted this one seemed more forward thinking than those in years past so that was cool to see.
