Anyone else find it weird how low of a draw all the headliners had? Noticed it last year too with Eminem and The Weeknd. I could see them going smaller with headliners in the future and building up the undercard
Honestly, that makes for a better festival in my opinion. But I think they go big on one headliner and small/moderate on two, just to move tickets. And beef up the undercard. Example: Going all in on Rihanna but having a much lighter Chance and VW behind her. Rihanna alone will have it sold out for the casuals, and the line up should be pretty beefy for the rest of us. Only fear is Beyonce-like campers ruining sets again lol.
On this point - they seemed like they scheduled the Main on Sunday specifically out of a desire to avoid that again. 2018 they tried to book variety Beyonce fans would be interested in (CHIC, Chromeo, Tyler, HAIM) and it didn't work. This year, they leaned into it with basic stuff (Bad Bunny, Zedd, Khalid) and it seemed to make everyone happier.
It’s not likely that they take a risk in Frank Ocean after a year with two headliner and one sub headliner cancellations. He’s a wildcard. GV sued him for cancelling FYF, forcing him to play two years later.
If it’s Kendrick (with new album) vs Frank, they’re gonna book Kendrick.
Goldenvoice sued Frank for canceling FYF? I looked online and couldn’t find anything about this. All lawsuits are public record (perhaps not everything that happens during the lawsuit, but certainly the fact that a lawsuit was filed), so there should be documentation if that’s the case. Care to point me in the right direction?
I’m not sure they went through litigation but they did threaten legal action as Frank owed them millions from canceling. That’s why he had to play FYF eventually.
Went both weekends, weekend 2 is definitely less crowded but getting from Khruangbin to Diplo W2 was the second most crowded experience I had either weekend, to the point where we just called it and turned back towards anything else. The first was the path to gates hell aka the Yellow Path Saturday W1.
Also Polo and Pan was the most fun I had. The crowd both weekends was A+.
Today. Travis After July with the Chance album? I still say Travis but you never know
Should have clarified, both with new albums
I have never seen Chance yet so I do want to see him probably a bit more. But I know my friends want to see Travis more (again), so that will probably be more enjoyable with my friend group

I’ve never seen chance. Wish I did in 2014 Coachella (overslept and didn’t care for his voice). Haven’t liked nothing since acid rap. Good live performer tho
I’m a Travis fan tho even if I don’t like him as a person
Chance, easily. Planning on going blind/for the first time next year and i'd be super disappointed if the hip hop headliner is Travis. Still bitter he was so late for Osheaga. Plus I just enjoy Chance's music more and love the 6 singles hes dropped.
Travis is the bigger artist and with a new album, he'd be a great booking as the #2 headliner. Chance would be fine, dedicated fan base, would be the #3.. if his new album does well, I'd say he'd be a bit of a better booking than Gambino was.
Would much rather have Chance. Travis on record is okay, Travis live is my nightmare
Not my nightmare, but I personally much prefer Chance both live and on record. Travis is great for the theatrics/pyro but I'm not watching 1.5 hours of that and staying entertained.
Also, last time I tried to see Travis he was 40 minutes late and began bashing security who were just standing there trying to do their jobs. I'm not trying to deal with that shit from a headliner. If fucking guns n roses can be on time, you can too. I do, however, think he's become more professional when it comes to those antics & everyone loved the astroworld fest in Houston by all accounts.

Neither of these artists are subbing
i think what he means is in terms of strength. Like if it wasnt organized by day this year it'd be in order Ariana Grande #1 Childish Gambino #2 and Tame Impala #3

Vampire Weekend and Disclosure are pretty safe bets for subs. I would love to see Beck come back again, but I feel like that 3rd spot will be taken up by Halsey or Dua Lipa.

Working on a way-too-early and way-too-optimistic mock, but the subs for me come down to 3 out of VW, Disclosure, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Miley. Hoping for the first 3.

I think the first two are the only ones with any real chance

Certainly the most likely of the 4. Who else you got? I'm debating FKA Twigs as a 2 vs 3.
Miley would be an amazing sub. Disclosure is really realistic. Idk about YYY, but VW would be great as a sub. Logic if you want a rap option as a sub. Personal hope for Paramore to finally play Coachella. They could sub or be a 3 or 4.. really depends. I'd rather them close the Outdoor than sub, as a fan, longer set.
YYYs would be second line, but not at a sub at this point.
This. And I think they're better off sticking to smaller rock fests. I'd love to see them at Coachella, but I can't imagine they'd draw very well at this point. They could probaby even play Mojave.
