This. Robert Smith said they hope to have the new album out around Halloween time. However, he said that they plan on doing 30th anniversary Disintegration concerts in New York and Los Angeles around Christmas time, so I don’t know if that would affect Coachella.

^I was just about to ask this same question.
Would The Chemical Brothers be in play? I know they have the 2 SoCal shows next month, but after that I don't think they're scheduled to be in the States for the rest of the year.
Others that come to mind are Basement Jaxx, Massive Attack, Portishead, and Pendulum.

Chemical Brothers just announced a show in NYC for August.
Massive Attack seems possible (but you'd have to think they tried this year). Personally, Leftfield would be the dream booking.

There was (for once) a quality post on the Coachella FB Reddit group talking about festivals, diversity and how Coachella is one of the most diverse US festivals. They capitalized on the EDM craze when that went big, incorporated hip-hop more heavily the past few years and went more international this year, basically following the trends of what was happening in the music scene at the time. Coachella will always follow whatever the pop culture tells them to do so what do you guys think will be the direction for 2020? Will they continue to emphasize Latinx and k-pop or will it be something else for 2020?

I definitely think they continue to emphasize latin & K-pop.
Beyond that is there a possibility we see more country music on the 2020 lineup? With Kacey Musgraves wining AOTY and the popularity of Old Town Road, could we see country surge in the mainstream? I'm probably way off base because I know next to nothing with regards to country, but wanted to see what you guys think.

They’ve had a token country artist in the past (Stapleton, Sturgil) so this year wasn’t anything new in that regard. I expect that will stay about the same lest they start to cannibalize Stagecoach

Also, what do you think GV will do with the early 2000's indie bands that were sorely missing from the lineup? With how fast Just Like Heaven sold out the demand is still there, but is GV going to put them back on the lineup for 2020 or keep them for a separate festival?

I would have to imagine that a couple of those bands on Just Like Heaven will be there - it's not like any of them are really touring a brand new album currently, many are at the tail end of their album cycle and some haven't released anything new in several years. I think we'll see a few of these bands next year - especially with rumors of VW being on the lineup, they'll sprinkle in some more indie bands to cater to that crowd.

I’m not sure how much I’d read into the JLH sellout for Coachella. The venue was much smaller and the tickets were much cheaper. I honestly don’t think putting a few of those bands back on the Coachella lineup would have that fanbase come flocking back to a much more expensive Coachella. Unless they have new relevant material to promote, it seems like it would be a step backwards for Coachella with the direction they’re taking. It’s a throwback festival and Coachella usually doesn’t bother with those kind of acts unless they’re rare, influential or have a legacy. Phoenix, Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, MGMT, Beach House and maybe The Rapture are the only ones I could see returning.

Generally agreed with this. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs would seem to be the best bet; female-fronted, lots of recent GV promotion, and they have to have a new album EVENTUALLY, right? Probably too early for Phoenix though, too late for MGMT, and TBD on Beach House. I could see Miami Horror back, too.
