What likely lower-line acts should I be getting into folks?
(The last time I asked this a few years ago before 2017, the names I recall TME gave me were Mitski, Sofi Tukker, Bishop Briggs and the Lemon Twigs. I trust your judgement sir)

Seconded especially for the bolded ones. I don't know the others well but I fully think those others will be there.
*At that time, Coachella provided a vital anchor point for International acts to come build a tour around. Many acts would not have had access or exposure in the US market without these few festivals.
*Coachella was the first festival of its kind on grass. Still one of my favorite parts of the experience today in 2019.
* “The sort of theme-park format that a lot of festivals seem to have adopted will eventually tire,” Tobin says. “I might be entirely wrong, but I just get the sense that people will eventually make that distinction between going to see a genuine, authentic music experience and the fairground ride. You know? There’s nothing wrong with either. Right? But they are different things.”
Nothing groundbreaking for all the industry folks on this board, but for me it was a fun read.
A lot of those cities she has never played and you cant bank on her booking an arena in iowa and expecting a sellout. And yes, its really her choice of doing theaters is most cities to be intimate. Just trying to make her apparent “ascension” as a true american songwriter blah blah blah. Wait til she does a route 66 tour.
Seems like Lana is doing those Midwest dates in the fall instead of the spring. The dates certainly still line up for a potential appearance.
Given some of the smaller venue sizes, could she just be a sub?
My thoughts on this is that Lana was a logical sub every year the past 5 years. I think they've been waiting for her to be able to headline, and she's definitely big enough this year IMO

My favorite part was Amon Tobin talking about how he missed the start of his set time because he was taking a hot air balloon ride.

She is less popular than she was 5 years ago. Look up all the numbers and talk about her online. Her music is less mainstream now. How does it make sense that she headlines?
She is either a sub (or not there) or GV likely pays the consequences of weak ticket sales again

Be that as it may, the bookings at a festival the size of Coachella are more reflective of what's selling in New York and Chicago and San Francisco, than of what's selling in Des Moines and Davenport. Nobody cares if it'll play in Peoria when you're an international destination festival outside a major population centre.
I think she's garnered a level of critical respect she never quite had before with this new album. For example, based on the Best of the Decade list, it looks like her new album will be Pitchfork's top album of 2019. The work may not be more popular, but it's a consensus leap in quality, and considering how focused on California the new album is, it feels like a perfect fit, and just anecdotally, I've heard her version of "Doin' Time" on the radio more than any other song of hers ever.
In terms of moving tickets from her presence, I think she's a bigger pull than Tame or Childish, and if she doesn't play any more LA gigs, bigger than Ariana.
The critical acclaim part is fair from what I read online
Album was boring af to me personally
If its actually Lana and Travis, I wonder what route they go with 3rd headliner
hasn't there been a guy saying Travis/Lana/Tool in here for over a month now
But then how could those of us not in the know pretend that we are in on the scoops game when we essentially just follow the same feed? Gotta at least reject those newbies to show some superiority.

LDR is going to be all over year end lists, best of the decade lists, year in review pieces, all of it. Timing would be pretty perfect for the poster drop. I would bet that a year from now, it will look silly that her headliner status was ever in question.

Everybody's contrarian attitude on here has made their opinions and predictions look like a human centipede that’s starting to eat it’s own ass. This is the most wonderful time of the year.
