I did hit the Mann shows that summer too so if I made it to Raleigh would have been much more impressive. There's a crazy voice in my head telling me try and make MPP through Alpine happen this summer but that's just crazy talk.

as we suspected no other deep south tour dates. closest they come is st. louis and charlotte. should convince a few southern phans to head to bonnaroo.
SC, NC, and VA all have shows on the tour with much less travel. I don't see many Phish fans in North Carolina making the trip to Roo with a Charlotte date on the weekend a week later.
Still think Bonnaroo would have been in a better position if they had booked a few more undercard jam acts. If they were to hypothetically add Keller Williams Grateful Grass and moe. - I could see a huge chuck of the annual Lockn crowd attending.
Which tracks should I add to my Bonnaroo playlist? Preferably ones they'll be likely to play live. Idc if it's studio or live, just has to be on Apple Music, which most of their published discog is.
Harry Hood Tweezer Chalkdust Torture Character Zero Carini Down With Disease Ghost Slave to the Traffic Light Free Sample In A Jar The Moma Dance Twist Julius Light No Men In No Men's Land Blaze On Fuego Sand Backwards Down The Number Line Mike's Song Weekapaug Groove Possum
and of course Farmhouse
FYI - I just went off songs I've seen 10 times or more live
I made this a playlist on my phone and I’ve been listening 2 hours now. Thank you
ha. yeah as Jaz helpfully noted it's "let's get down to the nitty gritty / let's get this show on the road". typically you find ac/dc bag in the opener slot or second song slot, so these lyrics result in a huge roar from the crowd.

What do y'all think the best strategy is for ticket requests at the Charlotte show? I have four friends who all want to go. I think it's one person requesting four tickets. Others think everyone should request their own. One said two and two.
“I meditate and then I do my vocal warm-up and then I go in the bathroom and I always kind of kneel down in front of the toilet. And there’s a reason that I do that. Because I used to drink too much and it put me in front of that toilet and I like to remind myself how grateful I am that today I haven’t had to do that, in 12 years. That’s a powerful thing to me. And then, I do the St. Francis prayer. And then I try to do the ‘we’ version of the St. Francis prayer… I think of the town we’re in and I try to picture it from above and all the people in it and everybody who isn’t in the venue surrounding to try and get some perspective. And then I think about the venue from above so that I’m reminded that it’s really small. Even if it’s an arena or something, in the scheme of things it’s very, very, very, very small and it’s a gathering of people. And then I get up – the last thing I do before I walk on stage – and I open the door, and I let God out. And I walk out afterwards. I do that every night.”

I have got to say I'm really excited for these shows. I hope there aren't too many rough conflicts on Friday because I definitely want to see at least part of that late night set. I'm hoping they will be unopposed on Sunday.

definitely one person requesting all four tickets. if you split it up you won't get seats together (unless you get all lawns).
i guess you increase your chances of winning the lotto with separate requests. but i don't think ticket demand will be ridiculous for charlotte, it's a big venue. if you don't hit lotto you still have public on sale, and if you don't hit that you still have aftermarket.
even for high demand shows that is always what i do.

inforoo may or may not be familiar with the concept of making amends in a 12 step program. basically it's not just apologizing, it's making the harmed person whole again. so if i stole $20 from you, saying i'm sorry isn't an amends, i need to give you $20 back.
opening with "Fluffhead" at the 3/6/2009 reunion show as an amends for Coventry (and all the 2.0 bullshit) was the GOAT amends.

Thanks for the this. I didn't know anything about the Charlotte venue. I'm gonna go all or nothing.
What do you guys expect from the Friday set? both length/type of stuff they do
I figure Sunday will be like a normal Phish show.
My gut tells me they'll be a long lead in to the midnight/late night set. While my heart wants "four hour jam into the wee hours"
Friend guessed they'll probably play as a long lead in with horns and guests and general dorkiness/ridiculousness. If anything i think it'll be a teaser set to try and get people to come see the real deal on sunday

Never seen or even heard any Phish before, but I'm excited to check them out at Roo. Will definitely be at the Sunday set, maybe Friday if no conflicts. Should I listen before or should I just let it absorb me at Roo? Sorry if this exact question has been asked many times.

I'd say it would depend more on if you're one of those people who wants to go down the "familiarity with songs equals more enjoyable show" route or "just experience it" route.
I will say if you are definitely planning on seeing Phish, you should highly consider JRAD as well

I see no reason to expect it will be different in format from 2009's set
It'll start out quite song-y and hopefully morphs into some longer, jammy sections near the end of their time slot. Might not be 3 hours this go around though.

I have brought friends to their first show in both camps, but typically those who come in without having heard them and an open mind have had the better experience. There isn't a wrong answer, just depends on what your personal preferences are. Either way it's worth checking them out and seeing it for yourself.

Well honestly I've never made it through a jam set but I've only witnessed a couple before. Typically I like to know the songs so I can sing along, but my very limited understanding is the recorded versions aren't really similar to what is played. Sounds good! I'll add JRAD. Either way I'm excited as fuck bc I would never shell out the money to see them otherwise.

If your enjoyment is based off singing along, you might as well try a couple studio albums. Lawn Boy, Hoist, and Billy Breathes but not necessarily in that order.

good question. i had a friend approach his first Phish show Fall before last with minimum exposure to Phish, which he did intentionally. He had a wonderful experience and is a fan now. But I don't think you could go wrong either way.
even if you spent the next several months listening to almost nothing but phish you still probably won't know what the hell is going on for 80% of the show. and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, so long as you approach with an open mind and pay attention to what is happening in the moment.

Yeah I kinda figured what you're saying about not being able to really catch up. I'll probably listen to some stuff here and there but for the most part I'm just gonna go to the show with an open mind and if I really enjoy myself (heh) I'll use that show as a catalyst.
