^^^isn't raystang (is that the right name?) one of your friends also - is he going?
I just got a pm earlier from another Mississippi who is coming back from Iraq - and will be at roo with his wife
yep. i rode with him last year so i guess i sorta *took* a roo virgin, even though he drove and provided most of the camping stuff since my stuff is all 1 person lol.
so if yall are leaving around noon wednesday, when does that put yall in manchester/into the gates? i was thinking of leaving around 1 or 2 a.m. in order to arrive around 9 or 10 but a day drive sounds much more appealing

Im probably going to leave around 4 or 5 Wednesday afternoon unless something comes up and delays me some. I prefer to get there before sunrise on Thurs. got Camp Rusty Griswald last year, was a bit far away, but I enjoyed the shade from the trees next to us Hoping to get a similar camp this year.
we will prolly try to leave around 1-2ish - that gives us plenty of time - to drive - look around - check out stuff on the way - stop before we get to Manchester and get hot food in a/c - then we head for Wal-mart and chill for awhile watching everyone act crazy - head for the gates around 2-3 a.m. maybe a little earlier - last year we were in and had camp set up by 3 a.m. - we were in BFE tho
This year we will be in access camping - so we may hang out at Walmart longer

Just curious which way does everyone go?
Last year I just followed I-20 all thru Birmingham, then I think it changed to something else, but ended up going through the Mts. and hit Georgia for a minute before cutting onto I-24.
I think another way is I-20 to Birmingham, then north on I-65, then its either a few other roads to Manchester, or north to Nashville and cut down on I-24. Which way do y'all prefer? I liked the mts. myself.
well last year Meg a I screwed up and went through birmingham cause we weren't paying attention... but this year we will be going i20 to Bham and hitting 459 bypass and then going to i59 to chattanooga and hitting i24 to manchaester
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo

Hello to all. I talked to Meg the other day, and, yes, I will be coming from Iraq just in time for 'Roo. My wife and I actually live in Brookhaven. So, I've been hearing that the best camping usually gets dished out if you get there around 1030-1200??? I've heard getting there too early gets you put in Austin Powers and getting there too late gets you put in the Northwest corner. I think we're gonna try to hit it around 1030 thursday. Exactly how long does it take to get there? Also, is the I-20 to I-59 to I-24 route the preferred route? Any help is much appreciated...

If you get there too early - you end up out Woodlands Avenue - which is like saying "over the river and through the woods" It is about a 30 min walk to Centeroo because you have to walk all the way around VIP to get to the entrance.
As far as route - that is the preferred route - take the loop around B'ham tho - do NOT go through B'ham - we screwed up and did that last year and ended up in traffic for an additional 2 hours due to rush hour, grass fires, and accidents.
On average - from Jackson - it takes about 6-7 hours to get to Manchester - depends on how often you stop, speed, etc. That is going with the flow of traffic
hey thanks. i'm pretty familiar with the b-ham area, so, i know what you're talking about. i spent 5 hrs stuck in traffic because two 18-wheelers wrecked once in b-ham. the loop is definitely a must if you're gonna be getting there around any rush times (morning/evening).

I don't remember which way we went through b'ham but it was about 9 at night so it wasn't too busy either. Stopped at a gas station that reminded me of some south jackson gas stations.

Karma!!
A non-MS native, but resident now. MS is a beautiful state, you just have to get away from the cities to notice it. I love the country, its so peaceful and quiet (until theres a gun shot or two or more in hunting season). You can do anything, me and buddies usually head up to Pelahatchie to party, no problems to worry about and we can do whatever we want.

I am a non-MS native also but I have been here for 20 years - culterally - we are lacking - music wise - as far as major concerts on a regular basis - we are lacking
but the great outdoors - it is beautiful here - nothing better the cruising down a river in a canoe on a nice sunny day in the middle of nowhere with no phone, no noise - just water, sun and nature (with a little corn)

Yea, pretty much. Iv noticed north jackson getting a fair bit worse as of lately too. I expect Northpark to end up like Metro in the next 10 years.
OMG - please don't say that - we live 2 blocks from Northpark and I love my house (realistically - you are right tho and I know I will end up selling and moving across the highway to Dinsmor)

Bogachitto(SP) anyone? Love going down there in the summer, got me ready for the heat at Bonnaroo last year, went every other weekend and would stay at a friends house.
It does suck having to go to Memphis or N.O. or whatnot for a decent concert however.
