Can you honestly give me a reason that inspector JTR would guess Carini N1? There's no discernible reason in the thread, his justifications were terrible, he even said he guessed me until he switched the guess with LD in his private thread. Obviously the town is believing him now, which includes me, that a complete shot in the dark ended up correct, it's just an odd turn of events.
I'm still contemplating my vote and going to need to think about it some more. I wouldn't hate this deadline being pushed to 10pm Sunday night instead of Sunday morning.

But does asking about Carini on N1 make sense to you? It didn't to me and I haven't seen anyone else worried about that aspect. Eventually I chalked it up to luck and inexperience, which is fine. But it's totally legit to question that guess.

After a reread I think the last mafia is between Jaz and tainted. Given how weak everyone was on the inspector reveal, mafia could have easily kept JTR alive to add chaos and possibly save Carini. I think it’s possible they were worried about JTR’s third guess who he was very vocal about guessing tainted and/or Jaz next. I think Tainted makes a lot of sense because it would justify the day 1, 3-0 split. Jaz I think is next logical in line because if the split was 2-1 Jaz is the tainted voter I’m most suspicious of. I’ve had a town read on potent the majority of the game.
In conclusion I don’t if we do tainted Jaz or Jaz tainted but I think we win if we get both of them out (or potent/Thor has majorly duped me).

it's not incongruous to question why he would guess Carini but to also be happy he guessed correctly.

It wasn’t the first nor the last time someone asks follow up questions after an inspector reveal. I’ve done it many times. But the tenor of your posts felt like it was beyond seeking the truth and more about discrediting JTR. Again, this is my interpretation of written text and there is always room for misinterpretation there. But that’s the vibe I got.
Plus, like I said, I’m going off a bare assumption that mafia split votes on D1, so I’m looking at Potent, Dan, and Jaz. But I very well could be wrong.
Rereading JR's posts from before he was whacked, and there's not much there to suggest that he inadvertently targeted one of our remaining Mafia. Nothing concrete at least. I do find it interesting however that both Dan and Tainted had their votes on Kanye after the Inspector reveal.
It comes down to Thor having little to no interest in this game vs you clearly hoping I'd swing thor and give you the deciding vote in the next round. It's the safe move as a townie.
Post-reveal, Tainted votes for Kanye, who we now know is town. I'm not sure I completely buy his reasoning. It could very easily be that he needed an excuse to vote for Kanye. The flipside of that is that after an Inspector reveal with two Mafia named, it's a better idea for the third Mafia to lay low and blend in, not to vote opposite the Inspector with flimsy reasoning. I'd like to think that Tainted is a better player than that - none of the Mafia REALLY believed they'd get the town to lynch Kanye in this scenario, right?
Between Danbob and Tainted, this actually makes me think Dan is more likely to be the Mafia, simply because keeping his vote on Kanye corresponds with laying low, while still leaving open the possibility that others will move to Kanye. He plays around with the idea of switching off Kanye but never does. He's also been engaged in thinking Kanye is Mafia at various points in the game. Could very easily just be a townie trying to do townie stuff.
However, we've also got Thor and Potent to consider. Thor is hard to get a read on this game. We know he's dealing with a lot, but that has absolutely no bearing on whether or not he's Mafia. My gut read on him is town, for whatever that's worth (hint: not much).
What I want to look at right now is Day 1, Round Three. Here's how things ended:
Vote History Dan > JTR JTR > Maddog Dan > Tainted Potent > JTR Jortles > Maddog
People have brought up the theory of a 3-0 split at the end of Day 1, which would make sense if Tainted was the 3rd Mafia. However, it DOESN'T make sense for all three of them to be on Maddog at this point in the game at the end of Round 3. Before Mafia Jortles made his last vote of the round, he had the choice of either making the runoff JTR/Tainted or Maddog/Tainted. Maddog/Tainted gave revotes to JR, Thor, and Potent. This is the choice he made. If he had voted for JTR, the revoters would have been JTR, Tainted, and Carini. Tainted and JTR would have voted for each other, giving the deciding vote to Mafia Carini. If the Mafia were Jortles/Tainted/Carini, this would have been a valuable move. Instead he gave what in this scenario would have been three townies the deciding fate on a Mafia teammate. This all really makes me think that Tainted is not the third Mafia - which then means that it didn't matter who Jortles voted for because no Mafia were in danger.
So now we've got to figure out if the third is Dan, Potent, or Thor. Either JTR or Tainted had all townies on them. Which one though?
I'm not ready to vote yet and have to do more rereading, but I wanted to float this out there and get some feedback. Thoughts?
Just to clarify. My suspicions of Kanye earlier in the game were under the assumption JR was inspector. When JTR revealed jortles as mafia, my suspicions were eased because jortles was the “new player” I think mafia whacked JR for. I kept my vote on Kanye to get someone in the runoff who I thought would definitely be implicated if JTR turned out not to be inspector.

Clearly I vote for Carini and say I think a runoff between "the two of them", Carini and Jortles, the two people JTR named in his reveal. My vote stayed on Carini but then Jortles switched his vote from Carini to Kanye to create the D2 runoff. I then voted for Carini in the final D2 runoff. So I don't know why you think I "openly advocated" to put a third person in the runoff. If I remember correctly, you even asked why I would prefer a runoff.
Yeah the move is questionable but still within his reveal. I just want to force mafias hand during the night round and if we lynch JTR, then we will never know for sure.

This was a pretty frustrating point in the game. I didn't understand why there were 7 of 9 players with votes and only 2 with stacks after we had just had an inspector reveal. It doesn't look great, but I was on Carini and stayed on him until the runoff was Jortles v. Kanye and voted Jortles off.
As to the part I bolded: That's the crux of the game. What's important? What's not? I need to ask myself what you were thinking when you made this post. We're you truly asking, or are you just trying to blend in? And if I jump down your throat about what you just said or nitpick how you phrased it, there's a good chance I'll be wrong. There's also a good chance I'll jump down your throat just to see how you react. That's the part of the game the burns some people and makes them hate it.
Why is Tainted so quiet? Was there anything behind the fact that Thor checked in late? This early in the game, these things are usually not worth focusing on, but take note.
If JR was dropping breadcrumbs, could this have been it?

With the knowledge that Carini was Mafia, I'm gonna add this to the "Evidence Tainted is Town" pile. I feel quite confident that he was town at this point, so I'm gonna look over things with this in mind.
Would have liked more people to chime in, but 4/4 on this page thought it would be better if we got to see more than 1 relevant vote in the next round.
This is not a rookie move. Probably coached. Possibly has nothing to do with the runoff at all and is just about making him look more town-ish.
Actually reading through the first several pages I’m finding it odd that Carini and to some extent Jortles were both really piling in Potent. It could be distancing...but it felt like too much if all 3 were mafia. They really piled on him (in addition to me creating suspicion).
If maddog was actually mafia, potent randomly switched off him then didnt vote against him in the final runoff. I hate to do this because potent may have actually just been shaking up day one and now im punishing him for it, but its the best information I have at this point.

Perhaps, but JR later said directly to Tainted that he didn't feel strongly about him one way or the other. I don't think he would invalidate his own breadcrumbs.
Could be an attempt to stay alive, or you could be right.
I am keeping my vote here for now for the additional reason that It also could be they voted for each other as mafia partners and never got a chance to change and we ended up getting lucky with a 2 mafia final runoff. Look at how quick Maddog was in reciprocating Tainted's vote. I voted Maddog right when the game started, he popped into the thread twice and didn't vote until Tainted voted him. Distancing gone bad?
