We bought the early birds. Will be our third year in a row. Love Desert Daze.
Haven't gone, but how easy is it to get tickets closer to the fest. Don't wanna grab another set of festival tickets without knowing my current job situation that late into the year, but I also don't wanna miss the Animal Collective show.

I got mine fairly last minute. I wouldn't worry too much
So whats the schedule usually like? Are there late night sets? Also, is there fun/trippy things to do besides the music, like Hulaween's spirit lake? I really hope so!

Late night, early morning sets. There's interactive art exhibits swimming and things to do in the campground and on the beach
Anyone in the know can spill any info about this fest? Seems weird they dropped two names in back to back weeks and then radio silence for months.
They kind of did that last year, it was like Rev, Death Grips, then maybe king gizz, and then we waited for the rest
Not really. We knew a lot more this time last year. They announced a couple dozen acts, including Tame Impala, Mercury Rev and Warpaint, in "transmission 1" in March, then added King Gizz in "transmission 1.5" in May.

Purchased my early bird passes. I live 15 minutes from the venue but couldn't make it last year because it conflicted with ACL weekend 2. Really looking forward to the lineup! Especially since it doesn't look like Cal Jam is happening this year.
The Comet is Coming has expanded it's North American tour (and is coming back in the fall apparently).
Not sure where Esteban heard they're coming back to the States in the Fall but if true I would imagine they'll be at Desert Daze.
Not sure if this is where I read it at, but they have a date in Brooklyn 10-1. Either a one off or possibly one of more shoes? I haven’t looked at their international shows so that might be where to look. www.treblezine.com/comet-is-coming-north-american-tour-dates/

I don't know if Tool is too big anymore. They are playing a bunch of smaller "metal" festivals throughout the country this year. They seem like a perfect fit with their psychedelia and heaviness. Plus, They always point at King Crimson as one of their biggest inspirations. Bring them both!!
Is The Cure/ King Crimson/ Animal Collective too big as a top 3?
I mean The Cure did 3 nights at the Hollywood Bowl last time they were around, that's like 50,000 tickets. They would be an unprecedentedly big headliner, but it would be sick if they find the money to pull it off. I think the venue is big enough.
EDIT: Oh shit I just saw that The Cure are playing ACL in October
So bummed I'll be missing this fest after making it the past 5 years in a row...
I'm surprised they haven't rolled out Phase I yet? Every year the schedule of their rollout changes a bit, but usually by now there are at least a 15+ acts announced.
