So IDLES play LA and San Diego in October, but then have this weekend completely open. Kind of strange but I would guess they're coming back. The support for the California shows before Desert Daze is a band called Surfbort, they're probably playing too.
Surfbort is the most punk band out right now. I saw them open for Big Bill and Black Lips like 2 or 3 years ago, and the front woman is iconic. They just got picked up to be in Gucci's Fall campaign. Incredible rise.
I feel like he's a good candidate for subbing the main stage for AnCo, but a lot depends on what else they have lined up. I have complete faith in their programming ability (and fingers are crossed they've ironed out the logistical kinks, but they've always kind of struggled on that front)

Yeah I could see him subbing but I wouldn't be surprised or upset if he headlines. FlyLo to me is as much Psych as he is electronic/hip hop, so I hope this signals for a more diverse lineup this year.
Were there preventable logistical issues this year aside from the lines to get in Friday?

Seems like they always have parking/transportation issues, and there's always a couple things broken/overwhelmed/they don't have nearly enough of. Doesn't stop the festival from being incredible though.

I went in Thursday and they messed that up too but not nearly as bad ass Friday. I'm sure it will be much better this year, being it was the first year in the new spot. There were also issues getting into the main area at noon, hopefully they'll fix that too. The camping isn't that close to the entrance, and it was A pain to walk all the way over just to find it they weren't opening for another hour. None of that stopped it from being amazing. Only the weather did that, and from what I understand that's a freak occurrence at that time of year

With all those F_ L_ posts it would seem the Flaming Lips are all but confirmed. They started the FL stuff with a FlyLo post so I doubt they would be teasing him.
