I thought Vieux goes from like Grunge through 90's rock through metal and Indie?
I've rarely ever listened to them and never have seen them. So to me, like Mumford and Sons, it would be something I haven't been exposed to and would possibly like more than Joe Inforoo. IDK and IDC.
Big STS9 weekend in town. I'm pretty jacked up. Jabco and his cousin got the El Presidente suite at a posh hotel nearby The Fillmore. It will be my first trip to the Fillmore. The opening acts are good (Thrifworks) and intriguing (PNUMA live). The after parties are kind of crazy. If we can get tickets, tonight is Paper Diamond Live Band and then STS9 bassist Alana Rocklin DJ'ing at House of Blues Parish. Tomorrow night we have both Zach Velmer (STS9's drummer) and David Phipps (keyboardist of STS9) spinning sets at The Parish.
i thought you loved the lumineers??? isn't that type of folksy pop americana your bag?
Ummm, I thought we were friends? I am not into that folksy pop Americana shit and I thought you knew me better than that. I am going to ugly cry now, thanks.

Fucking right.
Throw in some punk and hippy hop and you got me.
thejeremy hates the Fillmore, but we are going to see The Dungeon Family show on April 17. I almost got tickets to STS9, but am still trying to save money due to the new job.

EDIT: So when I used to sling cigarettes for a living, there was this dude Brett. He hated me because he just assumed because I was female, cute and stylish, that I was a bubblehead that listened to pop. He was shocked when I told him my top 5 bands at the time. I am glad that you actually know better and just throwing around the jokes.

Btw i have no legitimate info on Lumineers just was saying their tour is open. I actually like The Lumineers somehwhat but i see them more at ACL and lib over voodoo just was stating voodoo is still in that time frame lol

They share acts (sometimes a year off) and are both Live Nation assets. So it's not a bad conjecture.
Edit no bump, my early guesses are The Cure, J. Cole, one of Raconteurs, Black Keys or Green Day, Flume Reignwolf and Ghostemane for one of the Halloween acts
The Black Keys make too much sense not to headline. The Beck + CTE tour doesn’t have a Nola stop. I have a feeling Billie Eilish is gonna show up, big missed opportunity if not. Hot Chip is high on my wishlist.
I feel like rumors are really quiet this year. We’re like twoish months from the lineup drop right?

Probably 6 weeks. I think the last couple years it was June 6th and June 7th. So it's not far off. I think Cage will probably be there (last played Voodoo 2016). They played here last year for Jazz Fest and as you said, the tour doesn't stop here. I think Black Keys is a shoe in. It doesn't excite me, but I'll give them a chance to prove otherwise as I like them enough - just always seemed to skip them when I was at a festival they played at. It's kind of the same thing as The Killers and Mumford and Sons in that I always just sort of blew them both off. But once I saw them both at Voodoo, I had a new appreciation for what each of those acts was doing. I could see Voodoo having a somewhat generic lineup for them if not mirroring other fall festivals except with whatever acts everyone is getting. But if it's like Wilco, Cage, Deadmau5 (Cubes ver. 3.0), Chvrches are 2nd/3rd line acts (Deadmau5 probably 3 or 4), it's still going to be 3 good days of music particularly if we get Tame as one of the other HL's and maybe Raconteurs who were a soft Sunday headliner back in 2011 or 2012. IDK.
I am down for Black Keys, Billie Eilish (for sure), Beck and Hot Chip. CtE I could take one way or another, they will not ruin my festival and they are fun live. The first time I saw Black Keys was at Voodoo in 2009 in the pouring ass rain...it was fucking magical.
Did they even do a presale this year? I don't remember it happening which is super weird.
According to a poster on Reddit, apparently Hulaween is happening. They showed a text shot from Paul Levine saying that they found new investor who is reaching out to folks last week or this week to make payment arrangements. Says Hula 2019 is definitely happening. You never know for sure, but that's good news for them. One of my kids was over at SOSMP for Tipper's Full Moon Return this past weekend, and he reports SOSMP is as great as ever.
North Coast is back, so I guess it's plausible. The only thing with them is that it's all EDM now where it used to have some jam and jamtronica. I don't much care for their lineup this year beyond Bassnectar, Sodown and Trampa.

That's what I thought. Fucking voodoo.
Hulaween goers are like that mosquito flying around that you can't kill. You got it a couple times but it just won't die. That's one resilient festival. : ROFL:
So in the past few years we've had Chance get canceled (rain) and Gambino canceled (injured, too many splits). Do we think either of them are back this year? I'm not opposed to either - I really enjoyed Gambino's set at Coachella, so would really prefer Chance. I'm just hoping we're not at Post Malone headlining Voodoo status quite yet.
I'll guess Tame, Black Keys and Chance the Rapper. Maybe ACL will give us a bit of an idea as to whether or not Gambino will be doing a makeup since he canceled both last year.

Either of them are plausible. I know Glover said he wanted all this to be over by now, but I guess makeups are possible. Same goes for Chance. I'd still throw J. Cole in the mix too just because it's been a while. Maybe even Eminem for the big rapper. I don't know.

Any of those in hip hop I’ll personally take I’m just hoping it will be a different hip hop artist from ACL so i can get 2 different artist at each fest.
just an indication of who will be on tour and doing festivals this fall.
always happy to see Die Antwoord out there again. Would of course love Vampire Weekend. Hot Chip yes. I've liked what I've heard from Cautious Clay.
Curious to see what direction the electronic music goes in.
I’m curious about the electronic too, the last couple years was pretty bro-y with the some good stuff sprinkled in. I guess we can expect about the same. If FlyLo is part of the good stuff that’ll go a long way
The Racontuers tour ends October 18th in St. Louis, with no Nola stop. I kinda doubt they’d book both The Black Keys and Racontuers, but still.
Don’t wanna get my hopes up too much but Voodoo could throw together a nice lil lineup.
i think they could book both. while they appeal to the same crowd i think doubling down would double demand. people in new orleans like the rock music.
and voodoo, as always, will put together a lineup that is good enough for most of us to buy tickets, but not good enough for most of us to get particularly hype.

They usually deliver well for me a lineup to be only 2 hours away from. They deliver some alternative and hard rock as well as decent hip hop. I’m guessing since ACL is getting Gambino back Voodoo will as well. Make a top 4 of The Black Keys, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and The Raconteurs and looks like a good start to Voodoo 19 for me personally
Cure, Tame, Vince Staples, Black Keys, Bassnectar?
Also nice on Pretty Lights. He hasn’t done shit here since the second line and free show under the iI-10 to end alternative jazz fest 2017. He usually lives here so you’d expect more random shit. Maybe he cleaned up and has just been working mostly in studio?
