initial thoughts:
GNR we already knew about, great booking IMO.
Beck is our out of nowhere headliner right? Don't remember anyone predicting him. Another great booking.
I like Bassnectar, it's been a bit since he's played voodoo. With any luck he'll be during Post Malone (not hating on Post, he's just my least favorite headliner)
Brandi Carlile, The National, Interpol, all pretty good midcard bookings.
japanese breakfast is good.
I think Rezz is alright as far as EDM goes. What I've heard of Zhu is OK.
i've seen enough big gigantic to last me a lifetime. not a huge fan of what i've heard from snails, from what i've heard he's on the annoying side of dubstep. the glitch mob are aight.
lots of undercard edm crossover with bonnaroo.
as per usual an underwhelming lineup (for my tastes) with just enough oomph to probably get me back to city park. regardless i'll be in new orleans that weekend so i'd be surprised if i don't at least do saturday.
I could see doing this. Beck is always great. GnR, Brandi, Rezz, Interpol and a handful of others i haven't seen and have a solid interest in. Crazy cheap doesnt hurt

This seems pretty disappointing. It's not the worst lineup ever but I always expect Voodoo to do better. Booking Post again is lame. I've felt bad about missing this in the past but have no qualms this year.
Also Esteban and Vieuxcareen i know y’all have both done lineups of voodoo and ACL which one do y’all enjoy more is it just more of lineups being the dealbreaker?
They are kind of different. I love austin (was there last weekend), and I love ACL for the music. They have more stages since voodoo circa 15, so you have more options at any given time. It’s well run and always a lot of fun. But I’m kind of the wrong person to compare because I live within walking distance of Voodoo, and I do platinum. ACL isn’t going to compete with that in any way unless you’re paying close to 5k. Bars are an important element for me as well. We don’t have alcohol laws or regs on liquor. So you can go to any bar or sponsor and hook them up with a couple fat tips and end up drinking doubles/triples as you see fit. The lineups are usually similar but different, though I’ll give that to ACL. Vibe side - costumes, party level and crowd enthusiasm goes to Voodoo. Food is a wash, but it’s slightly better at voodoo, and of course platinum gets chef Aaron Sanchez for 6 meals and snacks all day. Maybe arroyo seco is on that level or kaaboo, but I’ll eat some chef Sanchez any day. Also the cities are different since we have no curfew. Late shows are less time rigorous, so you can go out til 4/5/6am if you want to after the fest.
So I dig them both. If you’ve never been to ACL, you should go to experience it. It’s got its issues, but we don’t ever not have a stupidly good time.
I really don’t get the hate for this, yes it isn’t amazing and no I won’t be going. But seems like everyone got their expectations high for a mid size fest that costs as much as just seeing Guns and Roses alone, what like $150. I think it’s good for Voodoo, Great EDM in my opinion. Bassnectar, Zhu, Rezz, Peekaboo, Big Gigantic, Big Wild, Opiuo, Jai wolf, hell I even used to like the Glitch Mob. And that’s all coming from someone who isn’t that big on EDM. I think Rezz, Peekaboo, Opiuo and Big Wild are really great gets though. Temples, Magic City Hippies and Still Woozy are awesome small gets. I really think it’s not that bad of a lineup overall for Voodoo now a days. I know they had great lineups in the past but the way all fests are changing I might just be getting used to not expecting as much as I did back then.
Just booked a room for second weekend of ACL just in case.
Too many bands I actually care about or am at least interested in. Voodoo is like the edgy version of Hangout these days. Why can’t we have nice things on the coast? Hahaha
Either way I’ll be at Gnr 100% and I’ll be back for WSMFP on Halloween at Uno

If they did a monster ACL lineup and came out with their prices everyone on here would freak out - I miss the old days, too expensive, they only care about $$..... For $140 if I can see GNR, Beck, Interpol, Carlile, National, Bassnectar that is about $20/band. Easy call - and maybe I'll like a new band or two that I don't know yet.

Spot on
Only thing i can say I realllllllly dont like is seeing Post Malone up there, but he'll draw a massive crowd and I'll get more spastic dancing space at another stage

i think it might be Johnny Sanchez?
That's the restaurant. Aaron Sanchez and John Besh started it up, so Johnny Sanchez.
We move back to town a week from today, so we'll be there. Lots of stuff I otherwise wouldn't go to a club show for, which is what I like about festivals. Also glad I am not going to miss GnR.
