I’m almost afraid to hope Rage could be the artist they’re trying to lock down. That would be amazing, which inevitably makes me fear the disappointment if it didn’t work out.

so what you’re saying is you’ll settle for nothing now and settle for nothing later?

In my opinoin i feel like this BC lineup puts GovBall in a tough spot if they dont land Rage...if the target demo has shifted from.18-25 to 25-35 then BCs headliners are going to be by far superior to whatever else GovBall books to add.to Tame and Stevie....on the other hand if they add a headliner for a younger demo it kind of goes the opposite direction of increasing the age limit and what appeared to be a effort to increase the age demo

Interesting comment on the Boston Calling topic about how there have been negotiations about WHEN to announce, that RATM wants to wait until February... probably aren't going to get their way though.

I wonder why.
Maybe as part of a larger East Coast tour announcement? I dunno.

i would imagine because they have some level of sympathy for people who will travel from Florida to Boston for this worried they won’t have a chance to see them. Which of course is the antithesis of the business model for festivals haha

If they only market at 25-35 year olds, they will not succeed, and someone will inevitably create a NYC version of Coachella, which is what Gov Ball is supposed be/has been

There can never be an NYC version of Coachella, because there's nowhere to camp, here. The vibe will always be different. The closest analogue is going to be something like Lollapalooza. Even then, the lack of viable festival spaces in NYC limits options. Lots of folks have tried - see All Points West, Panorama, etc. - and failed. It's a tough market to crack, and given the way GovBall has survived up to this point, including surviving one direct challenge from AEG, I'm not going to bet against them, at this point, and I say that as someone who really didn't dig the lineup last year aside from Saturday.

For what it's worth, this dude is kinda seen as a troll in this thread. He's been posting a bunch of predictions and deleting them when he's wrong
You can’t be this dumb. 100 percent Rage is playing this festival unless it’s someone like GNR for some weird reason. Tame impala is playing al over the US! That hurts them so they needed a bigger band for ticket sales. RATM will also be at Lolla! MCR might be to if they headline a day. If not they’ll pull out like they did at Coachella and will be at Riot fest.

This is obviously someone that got kicked out of inforoo right?
Opinion that might get me killed at inforoo: My Chemical Romance would be a better get than Rage Against the Machines for Gov Ball.
As someone who likes both it would probably come down to how extensively they both tour. Both are major reunions that have gotten a ton of press (MCR probably has gotten more)

Probably. With Rage having 2 festival announcements in NA (so far), one of which is already on the east coast, being the first fest to announce MCR would get plenty of people (myself included) to buy in on that alone.
I'm a bit sad MCR didn't work things out with Coachella. I was really curious to see who would draw the bigger crowd at Coachella if both RATM and MCR played.
MCR with a day that caters to the 30+ year old (Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, etc) juxtaposed with edm/hip hop probably would sell really well.
I wonder if they’re trying to get Weeknd. Would make sense as a Saturday closer with Solange or HER as main stage prior (could probably throw TBS playing tell all your friends as the opposer if you couldn’t land MCR).
Not sure who they pair tame with on Friday. Stevie into vampire weekend sounds about right.

this would really be a best case scenario for Boston calling. As someone with only an interest in tame impala so far, nothing would get me to Boston quicker.
If Tame, VW, Stevie Nicks, and Miley Cyrus are already at or near the top that's great but no, you're not alone. Would love to see Rihanna come out of nowhere
