I know! Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but as someone who is now suffering the constant ringing of tinnitus, I can understand why someone would go great lengths to prevent permanent deafness.
Neil Young, Phil Collins and Ryan Adams all have tinnitus as well off the the top of my head. It can be managed. As to the point about them having good record deals, they were both loaded before they put out their first record. So it’s not about the money either. It’s just a matter of whether they think they have something to prove still.

Pretty much. Theyre more or less “bored” now but theyre apparently working on new music.
And I have some lingering symptoms of tinnitus and thats even after having worn earplugs for the last 20 years. You figure it out and find a balance in your life on managing it.

Not saying it’s not a treatable condition, but it seems to have affected his lifestyle to the point where he said he wouldn’t DJ anymore (this was years ago). I figured them not playing live anymore was for similar reasons.

Ehhh, I don't want to belabor a point too much, but Thomas has at least been seen DJing more recently than Guy-Man has. Daft Punk is my favorite band of all time but I think it's far more likely they won't play live just because they're rich as hell and don't need the extra money.

Good point. It may also be one of those things where SO much hype has been built up that they know they couldn't possibly meet expectations. I didn't realize so many musicians lived with tinnitus, but in hindsight it makes perfect sense.

Riot Fest and Pitchfork look to be in really good spots if early August seems to be just too soon. But at least theyre starting to figure out what needs to be done and required for events to happen.

Not sure how Festive Owl's sources are but he tweeted this tongiht.
I would bet he is talking about Lolla (since its the pretty much the only "legacy" festival not to move yet) but not sure. Could see them moving to Labor day or share the same weekend as Bonnaroo.

Think we should be getting some sort of update either tomorrow or next Tuesday.
They typically send an email on the Tuesday before tickets go on sale announcing ticket sales/lineup date (which would be tomorrow).
Last year they did not send that email but updated us on the day that tickets would have gone on sale to tell us they are listening to health officials about what to do next regarding the festival.
So my thought is if they are going to have tickets go on sale per usual we will get an update tomorrow, if not then we should expect a "we are listening to health officials" message the following Tuesday.
With OSL hinting at some good news coming soon I think we may have some reason to be optimistic about Lollapalooza but we will see.
I read something that Chicago isnt issuing permits til the end of this month so maybe theyll just push back their usual timeline because of that. And this just announced in Iowa which prob hints at a few crossovers
Wrigley Field announced that their concerts for the summer are back on. Holy shit.
Dates below and tickets will be back on sale.
Chris Stapleton on July 17; Guns N’ Roses on July 21; The Hella Mega Tour with Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer on Aug. 15; Lady Gaga on Aug. 27; Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe on Aug. 29; and Maroon 5 on Aug. 30.
i dunno. if it's true that all adults can be eligible for a vaccine as of May 1, that leaves 2.5 months for a ton of people to get vaccinated. it's possible we're in an entirely different world come July.

I guess it's possible but at this point I don't see how there is enough certainty to schedule a show of that size that early. If we open up vaccines to everyone on May 1(it seems like most states will do this earlier) we still have to get those people vaccinated. Not everyone will get their first jab that first day. It could take some time. Then people getting the pfizer or Moderna vaccines won't have full immunity until 5-6 weeks after that first jab. Plus, we will still be dealing with the issue that a lot of people don't want the vaccine. Just seems a little ambitious to me.

Ravinia announced shows will be returning this summer and the schedule will be out in April. Between that and Wrigley announcing shows back on is a pretty big step for Illinois.
Pritzker is announcing his new reopening plan later this week which will address all of this. Since Summer Camp Fest in IL just announced their lineup today it seems like IL might get the green light for these bigger events in the summer.

This is where the J&J vaccine comes into play. If they were able to gain momentum on the fact that its one dose and you're done itll make a pretty big difference. Everyones focused on efficacy and are willing to block out 5 weeks of their lives to get Pfizer or Moderna just cause. Get the damn shot and we can all be on our way.

There has to be guidance thats allowing it to happen so Im expecting vaccine passports and the like to be in there. At least its a sign of things to come and what other states/counties will be inplementing.
I just hope that Pitchfork just pushes to Sept cause I dont wanna over spend on a plane ticket.
Don't think anti-vaxxers are of any concern to people who want to make money off concerts again. I mean, fuck em.
At some point these festivals are going to say screw it. If the vaccine is readily available and they have the chance to get the vaccine but choose not to, that is not on the festivals if something happens to them. We have to get back to our lives and we cant be waiting on these anti vaxxers or we will never get back to normal.

Sure, the J&J shot certainly helps with the timeline but a lot of people will still be getting pfizer/moderna.
