Also checked my TM, seeing Isbell in January as well.
sorry for being that person but Louis CK? Really?
i know, for real i understand. and i'm not particularly proud of it. but i'll tell you where i've landed. i think Louis is a guy with a kink that started out relatively harmless but then spun out of control as power dynamics shifted and ended up causing harm. he recognized that, apologized for it, and doesn't do it anymore. i completely respect anyone's decision to be done with Louis, harm is harm, and i'm not out there on the internet yelling at people to leave louis alone or anything.
i saw him multiple times pre-cancellation, he was easily my favorite stand up comic. i saw him once post cancellation because he came to my city and tickets were $35 and i was curious and my wife wanted to go as well. it was a fun show, but i left thinking i probably wouldn't go see him again. recently he started doing the rounds on various podcasts, I watched his YMH appearance, and I just can't bring myself to quit him. he makes me laugh. i think he is a decent person who did some bad shit and doesn't do those bad things anymore. so he announces another local show (again, this is mobile alabama where we aren't exactly drowning in shows), i send a text message about to my group of friends and immediately everybody wants to go.
anyway that's where i'm at with it. i think i've been thoughtful about it, and rightly or wrongly this is where i've arrived.

Cancelled people are never cancelled for long if they're a guy and not in jail. How it is.
jesse lacey is the only example i can think of whos actually been shitcanned forever, which is rightfully so but its gross to see people just as bad as him or worse mount comebacks
The problem with supporting someone like Win Butler or Louis CK is that they have done absolutely nothing to atone for what hes done and the severity of what he’s done is quite grave. which is why as i mentioned in the international thread that I lose respect for people who still buy and kept arcade fire tix. by doing so, you enable this behavior and allow these shit men to continue being abusers without consequences. thats what makes them part of the problem.

Comedy Grammy noms this year are a perfect example.

added a big addendum too after you replied. tl;dr the reason supporting arcade fire for example is so bad is because win hasnt faced any consequences whatsoever and the gravity of his accusations are severe and widespread. youre saying fuck you to all of his victims by buying a ticket to their shows

There are just so many other comics who didn't force women into unwanted sexual situations and then ruin their careers. Or mock Parkland survivors and trans people on their comeback tour.

Like, that’s it right there. Plenty of ppl who aren’t assholes.

My favorite comics are Dave Chapelle, Louis CK, and Bill Burr. I forgive you

I've never heard of or seen Bill Burr doing anything actually harmful. He just does "he shouldn't say that!" type stuff on talk shows. I wouldn't lump him in with either of the other guys.

There are comedians who don’t make fun of trans people?

when I saw Louis, he had some very positive things to say about nb’s and trans people. Don’t remember if it made it to the special.
Regarding the Parkland thing, I don’t remember the exact bit but that was a surprise appearance were people weren’t meant to record the show. It was his first show in front of people in years, some stuff isn’t gonna come across well and some material is just gonna suck. Being a comedian isn’t like being a musician where you just play the songs. It’s hard to gauge the reaction you’re gonna get and hard to practice getting the words out right.
