It’s not as funny or thought-provoking as some of the other specials, but it still has its moments. I’d suggest that before you make judgement against it, you’d at least watch it from beginning to end. At the end of the day, it’s a comedy show.
Yeah, i've disliked them for a while. Early on, before I knew who Portnoy was and saw a lot of his asshole behavior/comments it was like a neat sports alternative. Funny, interesting, unique. Then it blew up and became a real toxic masculinity factory and it was almost like a sign when someone would aggressively defend Barstool or be a huge fan it made me think they were probably assholes too lol.
Portnoy sucks. He totally seems like the kind of guy that needs to hurt people to feel pleasure.

That they grew from a regional thing to a national conglomerate that has partnerships with all these big brands (e.g., New Amsterdam Vodka) hasn't exactly helped my faith in humanity.

The article makes a good point about how Portnoy did for sports media/journalism (if you can call it journalism) what Trump did for politics. The whole "alpha male", anti-PC, no apologies type of shit attracts a lot of shitty people. People who are looking for someone to idolize that also will "tell it like it is" and make them feel like a tough guy by proxy. They love the cruelty and think it's funny.

For sure. Lots of his followers and employees are backing him and defending him. It would have to be something even more fucked up to actually paint him as a bad guy to his followers. As of now they are all in line with this article being a "hit job" and I bet he is going to be complaining about this to Tucker Carlson very soon.

I didn't click on it but I am pretty sure when I went and looked up that Barstool Sports or whatever his website is, there was a video of him of responding. So you know that is definitely coming.

Yeah, the post is a little odd overall but that "gave me a healthy baby girl" definitely feels like a petty, mean thing to say considering the context.

I don't know anything about his relationship with his kid. Referring to the healthy child that he had with the woman that he is talking about is awkward for sure but it's not the same as actually insulting or demeaning his child with Farris. Mostly I feel like it's none of my business to judge his relationship with the kid based on this post.

No way. When one of your kids is born two months premature with severe cerebral hemorrhaging which threatened him with life long disabilities, I think it’s okay to judge this dude for praising the “healthy” kid his new wife gave him like he’s some sort of feudal lord.

I just don't think it was intentional. The whole post was a weird ass public word salad about his wife. I just think he was talking with zero self-awareness.
Even from a basic PR standpoint it's hard to imagine a working actor intentionally putting that out in the world even if they truly felt that way.

But that’s the whole point, someone who has been through that with their first kid should absolutely have learned something from the experience and know better. Anna Farris wrote a book about how difficult the ordeal was.
Obviously we don’t know it was an intentional slight or not, but it’s possible to be so oblivious that you’re an asshole either way.
