Got my ticket for Saturday. Hoping for some better after announcements for Friday as well
Were you talking about the festival itself? If so, I think Saturday is where the value is at, but I'll still have fun on Friday. If you were talking about the late night BUKU Saturday Deadbeats show, I went ahead and bought two today. With SVIP you get one free ticket to the night show of your choice so I can wait to make that call when the next round of aftershows is released. This will probably sell out anyway, so I can always dump the tickets if I get a better Saturday option. My daughter likes Moody Good (I'm cool with him as well), so that's kind of the draw there and maybe Wooked on Tronics. I don't really care much about Zeds Dead, but I'm thinking they should at least be decent at 4:00am.

Yeah the fest! I’m taking a friend to her first festival so I thought one day may be best, plus the only two acts I’d care to see Friday that I haven’t already seen are Charli and J Worra.
As for the afters, I’ve never done one but I’m hoping for something House-y Friday night. If nothing else I’ll end up at Techno Club or maybe a Disko Obscura event
Yeah. I saw that yesterday. I looked out my office window but I couldn't tell if the new Float Den is some new permanent structure over there or if it's going to be a rigged up portable or whatever. If so, I'm not sure how they'd contain the sound. The main stage looks like the area where people used to park maybe? Not entirely sure there. Best name offered for Main Stage, and there were some f'n stupid ones, was Tchoup (and Tchoupped and Screwed) stage.
Being less than 3 weeks until festival season kickoff rules. Best I can tell, we are getting the premier for both Tyler the Creator’s 2020 tour and RTJ4. They changed up all stages except the ballroom and wharf. New warehouse for the float den, Smokestack stage and then a repositioned main stage. I guess because of the extra house and r & b they have featured this year, most of the stage assignments don’t really follow specific genres beyond a kind of basic level. Obviously they have the lower and mid card rap at Ballroom, but they are probably underestimating JPEGMAFIA’s appeal. All DJ’s At the smokestack stage. Gramatik should own that by the end of the festival.

Hopefully schedule comes out this week. Saturday looks to be bonkers, but it’s schedule depending.

If I can see all of Tyler, RTJ, Peggy, Kaytra, Dom Dolla and Turnstile ima be a very happy (non)camper. That’s a very good day of music, especially if I can throw a couple more acts in

Hmmm, now that this is owned by a real company with shareholder and stock price concerns, I wonder if they are pondering cancellation re Coronavirus. SXSW is in trouble and Ultra now has a press conf set for Friday at which time they are cancelling per the Festive Owl

That’s wild. I just went to the Marigny for Mardi Gras. I had a bad head cold for a couple days but for over that mostly. Shits like a cold or virus or whatever that it’s gonna get out there. Difference is the substantial fatality threat as compared to most other things we catch in a given year. Idk. I’d feel Pwnd if they cancelled it, but i can’t be mad because it’s not like they don’t want to put on the festival and be there too.

My hunch is it goes on. It's a small show (15-20k/day) and I'd venture majority of the attendees are not flying in for this. Very diff from some of the others. That said, did read two conventions in next few weeks have cancelled in Nola. Who knows?
It’s still on for now and I still plan on going. It’s a week from Friday so a little under 12 days til this gets rolling. Schedule is going to be out tomorrow. I’ll probably get to see at least some other acts that maybe would be worth seeing. That would be some of the House DJ’s, R&B/soul and pop-ier acts. That’s like Charli XCX, Chris Lake, Ari Lenox. I’ll see how it stacks up once they release. As of now, my preferred shows are:
Friday: 100 Gecs, Flatbush Zombies, Glass Animals, Mr Carmack, SD: Voyd, The Trifinity, Treety and Space Jesus.
Sat: CloZee, Gramatik. JPEGMAFIA, Run the Jewels, Kompany b2b Calcium, Megan, Pussy Riot, Subtronics, Tyler and Turnstile.
Go to Charli for me. Dailybread should be fun. I love Space Jesus , I’m not huge into bass but he’s easily my fav.
I didn't see anything I'd rather catch at that time (so I'll probably go by her set and watch and see if she can draw me in. She has a good voice, but a lot of the studio stuff sounds bubble-gumish). As for Space Jesus, I've seen him so many times that I figured I'd be able to skip most of his set. 100 Gecs is weird, and I'll probably end up splitting that. I hate autotune, as I've been saying for years, and they employ it too much. So if that annoys me enough, I'll leave that set early and just watch Space Jesus.
What you got on that '91? Assumption? Hunch? Reddit? Tame would be great at Buku. I've only ever seen them in Texas.
they announced some tour dates today and one of the dates said New Orleans Buku Fest.
That’s awesome. I got Super VIP because it was like 650.00 for Planet B. My youngest (daughter) is a big Tame fan do we will catch that in the prime viewing spot. Should be great.
