this assumes a new white stripes show wouldnt have the country influence. i doubt that.
The White Stripes covered Jolene at basically every show so ya there will be country influence. But the two-piece format kept Jack White’s self-indulgence in check.
this I agree with. Also the same logic for why a Talking Heads show would be the best possible Coachella headliner for me, even though I love the Byrne shows.
This was mostly repressed anger about anyone else besides Rage headlining Coachella when it returns and a desire to take shots at Jack White when applicable.
Yeah I didn't want to be too critical, but I don't see how adding a drummer who can barely keep rhythm is more appealing than a show built around hired, professional musicians doing roughly the same songs.
edit: as a nonfan though I understand my opinion doesn't amount to much here
Part of the appeal if the feeling they're always on the edge of falling apart, but don't. That said they've been uploading a bunch of live vids recently and they don't sound like dogshit in any of them.

I still think the move is doing a Jeff Lynne's ELO type thing where it's not og band, but full stripes sets.

There’s some band that has confirmed your dates that make it look like Coachella is the first two weekends of Oct. does anyone remember which? If Hot Chip is playing in Spain on Oct 8 and still playing Coachella, that would seem to indicate weekends 2 and 3 of Oct

The snl clips would beg to differ, but I know we’ll have a bunch of “no one sounds good on snl” comments. Just saying, I saw them twice as a youngster and I loved it. They didn’t sound great though.
