An interesting thing to note about the Super Bowl: The Weeknd performing in front of a 75% empty stadium with no one on the floor/pit area. This could be a big deal because it'll be a sample of what may be the reality of arena shows for a little bit. Artists would have to be comfortable and willing to play to a small and distanced crowd in a big venue (tickets and merch wouldbe dumb expensive to make up), but it's a way to bring concerts back sooner. If they do it for sports they can do it for music shows. It wouldn't be my preference but it's better than nothing. Would be a little weird for upbeat music, but for chill stuff it might be nice. Like I could so see a Norah Jones in a distanced Greek Theater or something, it'd be so relaxing.
The home audience is the point of the Super Bowl Pepsi Halftime Show. 100 million live viewers for the Super Bowl. The crowd is basically irrelevant, whether it's 25k or 100k.
This video has 200M views, as well:
I don't think it's an analog to basically anything regarding touring. It's also the difference between a promotional vehicle and something that draws almost exclusively existing fans. Apples and oranges.

If that ended up being the case then The Hollywood Bowl is going to be the most sought after venue in the city. Almost 19,000 seats to work with to distance as you need. Multiple entrances and concessions and the shuttle service is useful. But they might turn into a vaccination site I imagine.
Sheesh nevermind this is a packed stadium. Precautions surely went out the window. It looks mostly full.
22k ppl... 7.5k are vaccinated. Rest aren’t but only 20% cap in those areas. They have cutouts in the empty seats
How did they prevent vaccinated health care workers from selling their free tickets when resale market is record high at over $10,000 average due to short supply?
“ Those free, non-transferable tickets will be distributed digitally through an app, McCarthy said, and security will be on the lookout to ensure that none of them are sold.”
For a festival that has left it's rock roots in the past, there was probably a more relevant rock act they could have had sub in 2019 besides Weezer. It just didn't feel very imaginative. Stylistically it was absolutely a terrible choice.

They probably made those tickets have rotating barcodes on top of that so screenshots could never work.
To be fair, Weezer wasn't supposed to be their sub. But Weezer into Solange would have been really weird too.
Bon Iver into Gaga? Or what wouldve been Beyonce if she didnt postpone. Imagine how upset the Beyhive wouldve been with that instead of HAIN All the kids waiting for Jack U in 2016 didnt care at all for Sufjan Stevens who was on before.

I also found "Thank you for holding onto your passes, your loyalty has not gone unnoticed." interesting. Wonder if they'll have any special benefits for those of us still hanging on.
The rolling over “process” is something. Because before you didnt have to do anything to keep them. Now you have to choose? Seems like they will give the choice to roll over to April 2022, or ( if they do it) October. 🤔

I would assume we either get some nice gift or they give priority on presale for the following festival year. Cause theyre anticipating the first covid free edition to have a shitshow onsale.

I can’t believe it took them about a week to send this out. I haven’t seen them post this to socials either . I’m curious how many people have still held on to their tickets and how many people will still roll them over this time .

I bought 2 tickets to both weekends cause I wasn’t sure which one was going to work for me, then the way my plans sorted out I only needed one for myself and I sold the other three on stubhub for like -$20 after fees. I even mailed the wristbands to the stubhub buyers before everything froze, but now stubhub won’t complete the sales and I can’t refund my tickets and I’m just gonna be sitting on $2k in tickets for 2 years. In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter but I could sure go for some free stuff.
La Quinta Resort & Hyatt Regency blocking dates October 15 - 31. Anything this could be other than Coachella?
Nope. And why are they finally blocking dates? I booked rooms in other places way before this. Anyone who jumped on rooms at those places hopefully dont get a cancellation.

Considering they dont have to let that many people know, this is just an easier move. It was posted back in the summer that about 50-60% of ticket holders requested a refund. I would say most of them will keep em cause they got a for sure thing at least. They know this decision will have a domino effect, and they got time now as it is.

I am a bit worried, I booked Oct 8th-11th
I thought that was going to be a week
What about Stagecoach?
Any deals left?
Marriott Palm Springs airport has availability at $125 a night . I believe there is a shuttle stop somewhat close . If not the drive isn’t that bad I stayed there in 2014 and it was good .
To be fair, Weezer wasn't supposed to be their sub. But Weezer into Solange would have been really weird too.
Solange was supposed to close the stage apparently.
Is that true? She would've been after Tame Impala? That's odd. It would've put her up against Bassnectar on the Outdoor and that soundbleed would've really been a nuisance for her set.

It's just what I heard from someone who works for Primavera that I used to camp with and it made a lot of sense at the time. When she dropped, why not slide someone else into a coveted main stage spot? Why slide your headliner up so far? They fit the mold of HLers that haven't closed the stage, new album was delayed. I thought the same thing as you initially, but in hindsight I've seen her at fests where sound bleedcould have been an issue and it wasn't. She isn't the loudest show but she sure isn't quiet. Tame would have been dealing with Nectar soundbleed as well if she hadn't dropped and she was slated to play the normal sub slot.
Also, I'm a giant Weezer fan since childhood and still check in on their private message board and fan club shit from time to time. I recall Rivers telling people they were right before Tame prior to Solange dropping, but it was really close to the fest so maybe they were just notified they were being moved before we knew anything.
