Saturday 2013 was my ultimate. Theophilus London > Action Bronson > Danny Brown > The 2 Bears > El-P > Hot Chip > The Postal Service > The XX > Richie Hawtin > Sigur Ros
HM: Toro Y Moi > Jungle > RTJ > Kasabian > Tycho > SBTRKT> Ratatat

Saturday 2012 was a fantasy fulfilled for mid-2000's high school me: A run of Destroyer > Firehose > Kaiser Chiefs > Noel Gallagher > Jeff Mangum > Feist > Kasabian > Bon Iver > Radiohead. I don't even remember if I had time for dinner that evening.
Saturday 2013 was almost as good. Bat for Lashes > Violent Femmes > Portugal the Man > Grizzly Bear > The Postal Service > The xx > New Order

Would have been interesting to see Weezer with the 38 piece orchestra playing their new album rather than the greatest hits/cover set they had in 2019.

well damn. I knew the likelihood of them playing live again was pretty slim but it was always nice to know they were still out there as a long shot possibility. those 3 shows are among the best I've ever seen and probably couldn't have been replicated anyways.

Hope them and their families are in good health and everything. Kind of seems odd to announce a break up from a group with not much recent output other than some production work.

This is what's tripping me up. Why quit after years of relative silence? Like why was February 2021 the time they call it quits

Yeah, I'm genuinely uncertain what the point of "breaking up" is aside from setting up an eventual reunion. Or maybe they're just tired of being asked over and over about what's next.

They could have rode off into the sunset without releasing any more material. Well I hope we get two solo careers and no tragic news.
I posted this in the other thread, but my guess is that this is setting up more prominent solo work from one or both of these guys
Well there was rumor they had something coming out, but yeah, mightve been confused with a solo thing. I think Thomas would be the one to do it. He released that single a couple years ago and I think there was talk of more and it just never materialized.

My understanding is today is exactly 28 years from their first show. However, I too feared for one of their health upon immediately hearing this. I know one of them suffered from hearing loss, so that may have more to do with it than anything at this point.
