As its been pointed out before, Vegas has a crazy af mayor so thats gonna be a thing to watch.
And if we wanna add a probable artist to the list. Arlo Parks has a fall tour with 2 la dates right in the sweet spot.
In any other year, those LA dates would've ruled her out. So either Coachella is letting her do non-GV LA shows (doubtful), they tried to get her for October and it didn't work out (due to terms or pushing for April instead) or her dates have nothing to do with Coachella at all.
If we want to label this as "probable" (which I wouldn't) then we should count Fuzz as well.
Do we think people are going to be sticklers about radius clauses this/next year?
I could see it going either way. There are rumors that some European festivals are working together on available talent to make things work for everyone. At the same time, this is the US and I'm not sure they'll play as nice over here. Coachella probably has the most restrictive terms so I wouldn't be shocked if they stuck to their guns, especially if they plan on bringing back most of the original lineup. The amount of artists available works in the promoter's favor too. So I think the clauses will still be in place to an extent.
For Arlo Parks, I think a Coachella appearance makes sense if these were GV shows, but they're not. I personally look at her dates and think she's out.
I dont think it knocks her out of the running cause every promoter wants to make money right now. And giving artists more chances to play is better than restricting them at a time like this especially if theyre international and have to pay those new visa fees. Everyone wins if radius clauses end up being a bit relaxed just this one festival season. Its not like each fest wont have the handful of eye catching acts on them anyway. But everyones going to fight over a lower line act as if theyre Aphex Twin or something? Doubt it. Besides, what are the odds of having a full out Localchella as it is.
I think it would be weird for GV to not have her perform after they gave her new album a ton of love. I imagine that the venues she’s playing had holds and Coachella looked the other way. But I agree it could go either way
So with Biden announcing enough vaccine by end of May, who has odds that October is looking better and better? Do they wait til April and announce dates or May when 2022 presale would happen and package it all together.

Another thing, if ACL & Coachella conflict, any artist doing both weekends of ACL is probably highly unlikely to be doing Coachella too. So maybe Arlo Parks is already doing ACL both weekends and is just hitting LA the week after.
Also, someone on Reddit pointed out that Caribou may be moving his tour to spring ‘22.

Good point. I would also say that since ACL doesnt mirror the line up each weekend there is going to be a good chance that those who dont appear on their weekend 2 bill will just end up in California. But thats if they overlap as youve mentioned.
Looked at that songkick listing for Caribou and it is a bit odd since it shows the 2022 date but its cancelled? There is a show before that on new years day in Canada.

I've given up on trying to predict what might happen or when. I'm really fucking glad we have a real president now though, and that vaccines will be plentiful by summer (we still also have Astrazeneca and Novavax coming, maybe others - Biden's consistently under-promising and over-delivering, which is a nice reversal of the past year). I'll basically leave it at that. Can't wait for the slow grind back to normalcy.

Also, since nobody's really talked about actual music in ages here: The new Japanese Breakfast song is a damn bop and whenever Coachella happens, I hope she's there

A lot of that 2018 undercard is so ready to make a return (Chloe x Halle, Moses Sumney, Japanese Breakfast etc). And with better crowds this time.

Deadpan Darling album that finally came out today is decent. Would love to see them booked, especially if its the only way to get Blue Sky Black Death back together.

Maybe it's because I'm noticing more and more people getting vaccinated, but I'm feeling good about this being in October.
I'm banking on a smaller scale version of it with the big dawg back April 2022.
I know there was talk about them doing 60% capacity a while back but I just don’t see that happening. I think they’re going to wait until they can pull off 100% capacity. Given how much they care about their reputation, I can’t imagine them settling for a half-ass version of Coachella.

Maybe they’ll do a fall festival under a different name. That way they can do limited capacity or other restrictions with less risk to the Coachella brand.

I feel you on this but def can see GV taking this opportunity to present a new event in October that becomes annual... Prob rebranded though as others have mentioned. What the hell do I know tho. I just hope we get SOMETHING this fall.
