You act like the Big 10 isn't trash after Ohio State, because they all are
Ya my take is that when the new SEC media deal hits it's going to be the SEC, Ohio State, and maaaaaybe Clemson and then every other team will practically be playing another sport. The ACC’s terrible media deal is probably going to crush clemson at the end of the day.

An expanded playoff could help, but right now all the croots are tripping over each other to go to the 5-6 contenders.

im not sure expanded playoffs would help could pretty easily become 3 SEC teams in the final four every year

Tennessee v. Vanderbilt postponed indefinitely to allow Vanderbilt to play their Missouri make-up game on Saturday instead. Tennessee already has a game with A&M on December 12th, so the common sentiment is that Vanderbilt v. Tennessee will be the 19th as the SEC is allowing teams to play a regular season game the same week as the SEC Championship. This works out for Pruitt as a loss at Vanderbilt would have probably been the end for him. Even a close victory would have ratcheted the pressure up a couple notches. The downside for Pruitt is that Tennessee's next game is Florida where they are almost certainly going to get crushed.
So not one mention in here of Dabo making a complete ass out of himself on Saturday and then doubling down yesterday? Geez, that guy is insufferable.
Pretty fascinating how strong he is with recruiting despite doing things that you would think would make people not want to play for him. Feel like either A. The Christianity sell is just that strong or B. Generally football guys/players agree with him.

I don't see how Tennessee can compete for division titles in an era where Clemson and UGA can dominate Atlanta the way they have. A tough thing to accept, so I get firing Pruitt, but I don't know who the coaching solution would be.

Tennessee has had a top 15 recruiting class in the country for the last decade most years. I don't think they have ever dropped below 25 in any of those years. Unfortunately, top 15 only guarantees you about 7th place in the SEC. For example, the Class of 2020 was #10 nationally per 24/7 Sports and #7 in the SEC. Is it the best? Obviously not, but the program has pulled talent that should be turning out better than a 2-5 start. Re: Georgia, 4 out of 23 enrollees for the Class of 2020 were from the state of Georgia, so yes, they are not getting guys from Georgia like some other teams. Regardless of that, the quality is still there.
I do not think that firing Pruitt is 100% the best way to go right now. If anything, Tennessee's fan base is almost a meme at this point with their fickle nature. They were ready to erect a statue of Pruitt after the 2-0 start but act like he's the Anti-Christ now at 2-5. There does need to be something done though as several of the last games are not going well. I saw something the other day where they've been outscored something like 108-14 in the second half of the last 4 or 5 games. That's not a good statistic to be able to roll out. Also, Pruitt is not doing well with the media during the losing streak. For example, he was asked to comment on the state of the Tennessee football program given the recent downturn and responded something to the effect of it not being his job to make such assessments bc he was just in charge of coaching.
Edit: I am sure any Tennessee fan would agree that "We're a young team." makes me want to punch someone bc that's been the excuse for like 6 years running now.

Yeah, that's true, but there's no pathway for UT to get a top tier recruit at the QB position. Anyone in Georgia who Clemson or UGA wants, they will get, and the state of Tennessee doesn't produce QBs. Hard to win in the SEC East in 2020 without a top tier QB, and there's not a lot of coaches who can develop top QBs from 3 or 4-star guys. The only one I can think of offhand is Mullen. We will see how that Bailey kid develops, but it seems like Bama didn't want to take him, and Clemson & UGA passed on him.

so many people around here just assume he's coming to bama when saban retires, and I really fucking hope not. Guy is a bonehead

It's hard to win anywhere without top tier QBs. For all of Clemson's talent and success, they looked beatable when Chase Brice was the QB for a game or two. Going from Watson to Lawrence to DJ is just incredible for them.
QB recruiting still baffles me, I have no idea what these kids are thinking when they commit to a place. There was the recent decommit of a Texas kid, Quinn Ewers, from Texas and then commit to Ohio State. He's the top ranked 2022 guy. But OSU has a 5 star QB from Philly in their 2021 class, Kyle McCord. One of those guys is going to end up transferring out, and I get that all these kids think they are the best and will win the job, but - you could actually play for 3 years as Kyle McCord if you went to Michigan instead of OSU. You could play for 3 years if you were Quinn Ewers going to Texas over OSU. Just like the Justin Fields situation (thankfully decommitting from Penn State) at Georgia, it was pretty clear he wasn't going to play early at Georgia when he made that move.
It makes no sense to me. There are plenty of programs out there that could compete for conference titles (and, then, playoff appearances) if QBs would commit to them. Tennessee is a perfect example to me.

Dabo is continuing today! "I've been in the league 18 years, head coach for 12. They've had 3 coaches in 4 years in Tallahassee, I don't need advice from them." Holy cow this guy is the worst. There have to be some Clemson fans who realize some of this is ridiculous. Like, it's totally possible to like the guy for what he's done for your team, like all the winning, the recruits, etc, and realize that maybe sometimes he should just shut his mouth. At least on Twitter (I know, I know), they are circling the wagons like none other and it is really striking to see.

Bailey developing would be a huge question mark for sure. That has been an issue for Tennessee QBs. Guarantano has started 30+ games, and I could not really say that he is that much better of a QB than when he first started. He definitely should not be throwing up some of the shit he has this season at the very least. Calls for Bailey have been pretty steady, but Pruitt maintains that Guarantano has been the better QB in practice.
I am with potentpotables about QBs. Their recruiting seems to be all over the place recently and has gone far beyond anything that could be connected to regional recruiting. The top flight guys are from all over and appear to be willing to travel in order to get a prestige job even when it may not be the best fit for them.
Dabo is going to give you his opinion if you ask him a question He's not going to say "we're on to Pitt". That's just who he is. He's not bringing these things up on his own. Regardless if you like what he says show me the lie in anything he said in this FSU situation. Norvell took a shot at him saying that at FSU they don't let sick players practice or travel. He was implying that Clemson does. That's not what happened. The player had symptoms Mon. and Tue. and did Not practice. He was testing negative. He came back to practice Wed. and Thur. because he was asymptomatic. He was traveling because he was asymptomatic. The team tested Fri. but the results didn't come in till Sat. They sent him home. No other Clemson players tested positive on Sun. Meaning he didn't spread it to anyone around him because they handled it the right way. Clemson followed all of the protocols. ACC signed off on playing the game. FSU made the call not to play. So to me it's totally understandable for Clemson to be pissed off about the situation.
As far as Pitt goes this weekend. When they inexplicably beat us in 2016 it was the only game our seniors lost at home. This current class is undefeated at home. No way that shit happens again. Right?

Actually, it does not appear that the ACC "signed off" on the game being played. This article states that the ACC commissioner said it was up to the individual schools.
"ACC commissioner John Swofford told ESPN that league protocols specifically state the ultimate decision on whether to play a game is left up to the medical advisers for both schools, and if they cannot come to an agreement, then the game simply cannot be played. These protocols have been in place since the start of the season, and were designed to avoid questions about motive."

An absolute joke that Georgia is #9. The rest will work itself out, but I can't figure out what the committee was impressed with most - getting blown out in the first half by Florida, getting blown out in the second half against Bama, scoring only 14 against Kentucky, or allowing Miss St to score 24 when they hadn't scored in like six weeks.

Nothing matters except how bad BYU got screwed. 2 loss teams being ahead of them is embarrassing. The thing is if anyone is asked compile a top 10, they're going to have BYU in it. Except this committee. Oh well, at least they got the top 4 right. If Bama and Ohio St win out like they should and Clemson wins the rematch against ND. It's going to be Bama vs ND and Clemson vs Ohio St. As it should be because those are definitely the best 4 teams. It only gets exciting (for everyone else) if ND wins again. Who is 4 then? Florida and Georgia will have 2 losses. Do they still get in?

BYU has played Boise State and a bunch of also rans. Looks like they scheduled half of the Sun Belt.

if Bama/OSU/ND win out, it'll be A&M. If A&M drops a game too,I think that actually opens up the path for Cincinnati. No way 2 loss Florida or Georgia get in imo.
