"After turning on the national championship game on Monday the 13th I thought bad for The Clemson Tiger. It seems that the University purchased their mascot costume from the clearance rack from TG&Y in 1981. All proceeds will be mailed to the Clemson University Athletic Department at the conclusion of the fundraiser."
hopefully the new 'fit comes in before Spring Game

Here come your annual "way too early" polls for 2020 that overrate Texas, A&M, Michigan and Iowa State. They even managed to get Nebraska on the "just missed the cut" section despite only being capable of winning 4-5 games every year.

From the founder of one of the main VT message boards. Don't get me wrong, the idea of losing Fuente doesn't bother me - however, the timing of all this couldn't be worse.

Losing a coach at this time of the year is how Tennessee ended up with Dooley. Just sayin'.

I'm aware - if this happens, the timing of it will make it nearly impossible to come up with a good hire on our end. It blindsided our AD. Fuente just finished filling out his coaching staff for 2020 on Monday. When you factor in that the coaching carousel is practically over, VT administration will not shell out huge salaries look other big programs, and the fact that HC job at VT is not as appealing as it was in 2015....you probably left with a mid-major hire. Tyson Helton and Will Healy come to mind.
Luke Fickell would probably be best case scenario.

Will Healy would be great. I'd bet they'd go after the Clemson coordinators.

I’m sure it will be discussed. Venables is not leaving for VT - Tony Elliot would be interesting...

That's so weird, Baylor is such a massive step down from VT. Unless of course you have a desire to cover up rape (with the help of the entire Waco PD) so you can win games, then I guess it makes sense.

Our starting SS was granted a 5th year of eligibility and is returning. It's kinda bullshit as he played in 4 games as a freshman - before the rule was in place. Our argument was to apply the rule retroactively. I know we aren't the first, but there will be a couple of kids who are impacted like this.
We return 9 starters, plus our best two DL who were hurt for the entire season, to a defense ranked 11 by SP+ and 4th in yards per play. Our Rivals.com guy did an analysis of the offense though that showed we had, through 13 games, 108 "mistakes" on offense - dropped passes (led the nation according to PFF), pre-snap penalties, and turnovers. Cut that by 25% and we'll see offensive progress and we'll also see Clemson in Charlotte.

Penn State has the easiest schedule they've had in a while in 2020:
Kent State @vt SJSU NU mich Bye Iowa OSU @iu @neb MSU UMD ru
Biggest losses are Yetur Gross-Matos and KJ Hamler declaring early, but senior losses are minimal. Season success is going to hinge on Clifford taking a step forward and gelling with the new OC. We'll probably lose in the big house, and I can see us pulling out a win in the white out against OSU. 10-2 or 11-1 are definitely possible this year.

I think I like Penn State's chances to win the conference next year. They might be a good futures bet to make the playoff. I don't trust Clifford or Franklin. And of course I hate them
Fuente is staying. Sorry potentpotables , we are on to winning the Coastal and playing in the Orange Bowl.
If you listen to the national media, you are taking a back seat to Sam Howell (and we aren't even in the car).
I doubt Hooker as a passer and think teams will defend him against the run better and make him beat them deep and to the outside. Plus, you won't have Bud Foster's last game at home to energize the team.
For the Coastal and ACC sake, I hope UNC, VT, and Pitt are all respectable top 30-ish teams next year.

my girlfriend and about 30% of my friend group in philly went to pitt. it's pretty brutal if I'm being honest, being surrounded by shit eaters.

Philly has one of my favorite Pitt bars, Sto's on 3rd and Market in Old City. I bet your friends go there to watch Pitt games. I watched ND in 2018 and NC St in 2017 there.

UNC should be tough this year - they could have easily been 9-3 going into bowl season. VT was lucky to be on the right side of that new OT rule against them.
Hooker is a better passer than he gets credit for - just was off in the bowl game. Foster is still going to be very active with the defensive staff and the new coordinator. Big part of us promoting Hamilton within was Foster saying he would mentor him and stay active with the staff.
We were on the verge of our best season since 2011. Ryan Willis turnovers costed us the BC game, lost in South Bend by a point in the last minute with our backup QB only completing 9 passes, and we let Perkins run wild on us with UVA being as emotionally charged as they ever have been. VT is bringing back 21 of the 22 starters from last year and a coaching staff he personally put together. If Fuente can't get results this year - it's never going to happen.

I think theres no reason to think that win at home vs OSU would be more likely than loss @vt
