Nothing matters except how bad BYU got screwed. 2 loss teams being ahead of them is embarrassing. The thing is if anyone is asked compile a top 10, they're going to have BYU in it. Except this committee. Oh well, at least they got the top 4 right. If Bama and Ohio St win out like they should and Clemson wins the rematch against ND. It's going to be Bama vs ND and Clemson vs Ohio St. As it should be because those are definitely the best 4 teams. It only gets exciting (for everyone else) if ND wins again. Who is 4 then? Florida and Georgia will have 2 losses. Do they still get in?
if Bama/OSU/ND win out, it'll be A&M. If A&M drops a game too,I think that actually opens up the path for Cincinnati. No way 2 loss Florida or Georgia get in imo.
Forgot A&M earlier. No one wants to see that. Bama would destroy them again

BYU has played Boise State and a bunch of also rans. Looks like they scheduled half of the Sun Belt.
People focus too much on who you play. A good team is a good team. They look a lot like a good team to me.
Yeah, that's true, but there's no pathway for UT to get a top tier recruit at the QB position. Anyone in Georgia who Clemson or UGA wants, they will get, and the state of Tennessee doesn't produce QBs. Hard to win in the SEC East in 2020 without a top tier QB, and there's not a lot of coaches who can develop top QBs from 3 or 4-star guys. The only one I can think of offhand is Mullen. We will see how that Bailey kid develops, but it seems like Bama didn't want to take him, and Clemson & UGA passed on him.
It's hard to win anywhere without top tier QBs. For all of Clemson's talent and success, they looked beatable when Chase Brice was the QB for a game or two. Going from Watson to Lawrence to DJ is just incredible for them.
QB recruiting still baffles me, I have no idea what these kids are thinking when they commit to a place. There was the recent decommit of a Texas kid, Quinn Ewers, from Texas and then commit to Ohio State. He's the top ranked 2022 guy. But OSU has a 5 star QB from Philly in their 2021 class, Kyle McCord. One of those guys is going to end up transferring out, and I get that all these kids think they are the best and will win the job, but - you could actually play for 3 years as Kyle McCord if you went to Michigan instead of OSU. You could play for 3 years if you were Quinn Ewers going to Texas over OSU. Just like the Justin Fields situation (thankfully decommitting from Penn State) at Georgia, it was pretty clear he wasn't going to play early at Georgia when he made that move.
It makes no sense to me. There are plenty of programs out there that could compete for conference titles (and, then, playoff appearances) if QBs would commit to them. Tennessee is a perfect example to me.
sumlin was so bad at this post Johnny, just kept bringing in all these dudes who ended up hating him and the program

Isn't it really easy to look really good against a really bad team tho?
I just think it's thrown around too much. Also it's not their fault that they "haven't played anyone ". They should at least get a shot to actually play someone. Not saying they're top 4 but who knows?

I agree with the sentiment. I just think you need to play **Some** quality teams. Harder for BYU I'm sure, especially after they beat USC last year. There's not much for the bigger teams to gain by going to Provo and playing.
byu and Notre Dame should do home and away series, feel like it's the kind of competition that one side won't always roll over, and both good enough that even in off years could still be viewed as quality opponent
BYU just got quacked by not joining a conference for covid season like notre dame did. They were scheduled to play Utah, Arizona State, Missouri, Minnesota, and stanford.
I somehow forget how much of an eye test fan you are. Then, I remember Clemson plays in the ACC.
Hell, even Tennessee would have 8 wins every year in the ACC.
idk about that. They've been losing to SC and Vandy. They'd lose their share against Miami, NC, VT, Pitt, BC, Louisville, FSU if they can ever recover, even WF sometimes.

In South Carolina coaching news,
"According to reports, Coastal Carolina’s Jamey Chadwell and Louisiana’s Billy Napier have interviewed for the position, and a third interview is coming tomorrow.
Per ESPN’s Chris Low, Oklahoma OC Shane Beamer will spend his Thanksgiving interviewing for the Gamecocks’ job."

I'm pleased with these choices.
I've also seen that they've talked to Hughes Freeze and Satterfield from Louisville but haven't brought them in for interviews.

man these are three highly qualified candidates, I have no idea why any of them would take the SoCar job
Saw this the other day. I hope she does. The vandy women's soccer team is quacking good and she delivered a few clean sheets on the way to winning the sec tournament.
