I'm looking back at the announced 2020 lineup now, and I do feel that most of it will remain the same, but it's particular striking now in a post-Punisher world that Phoebe Bridgers was a 4 on Sunday. Surely if she comes back, she's going to sub.
Really hoping they can make Fiona Apple happen (not sure if she's interested, but I would love it and I'm sure P4k would too)
Yeah, even if she clearly is not interested in doing a big tour behind the new album, there's a part of me that thinks this is the more obvious choice over St. Vincent, especially considering that she just subbed Lollapalooza and she's gotten just so-so reviews since Masseduction
I mean theyve prob made a big push to get Fiona but it just hasnt materialized. Phoebe could get the bump for sure and be a sub but they were ultimately going to be the festival that snagged her at the right moment when Punisher was blowing up. She had that tour with The 1975 and no other domestic fests so they came up huge. I just think St Vincent is a no brainer for them this year as a make up for 2020 and filling in for a headliner. Nobody is going to say she doesnt deserve it and she subbed P4K the last time she played in 2015, so plenty of time has passed to move her up the line up. Plus with her booking at LiB the week after, it makes that seem more of a reality than trying to get Fiona out of hibernation just for the one gig. It could be a big selling point if P4K is the first performance back for this new album anyway.
Not many crossover act potential obviously but interesting to see a fairly big feat getting announced for Union Park in September, plus a couple of local DJs are playing (including Derrick Carter, DJ Heather)

Why not just bump Phoebe up to headliner? She could definitely pull in the crowd.

You're telling me we gotta go in there a week later and have to deal with stank grass after it gets trampled by wanna be trance kids? I would say this can be a cost saving thing for P4K because the stages could be set up the same and you split the costs.

If theyre trying to save money it would be the move I guess. Then you save St Vincent for next year and it seems RTJ is a lock for 2022 with their tour anyway.
Not sure what your expectations are for Pitchfork in terms of the grass, half of the park gets covered in mulch anyway lol why are you looking for things to complain about?

Cause its normally fine if it doesnt pour rain and make it soggy? I just want it to happen at this point cause the travel will be cheap af and I got my damn shot.
Well if the timing is supposed to align with the festival then expect an announcement in 2 weeks. Since they started to announce in March a few years ago its about 4 months from poster to festival. And normally theres a handful of tour gaps that come up right before so its working itself out.
Outside of Phoebe Briggers (who I assume is being bumped up) I have no idea who's headlining this. RTJ are at Riot and The National and Yeah Yeah Yeahs have yet to announce any shows this year. Should be an exciting Monday.

I think they keep their headliners still. Its kind of better that the National and YYY have nothing else going on. Makes it more unique since the sameness factor is creeping in already at whats been announced for the big fests. Lets say Phoebe got the nod and YYY is out then St Vincent seems who the logical replacement unless there is a left field choice that materialized for them.
There has to be a non-white headliner and Phoebe Bridgers isn’t headlining.
Because it was 2 1/2 white headliners pre covid since Killer Mike was the only poc at the top to begin with. But if you feel they gotta keep up with that then then are they booking like Erykah Badu? D’Angelo? Earth Wind and Fire? Common? Janelle Monae? Leon Bridges?
