I love that piggy pablo is comparing some dude whos job is to analyze NFL to my opinion on a music festival forum lmao
sarcasm (noun) - the use of irony to mock or convey contempt.
That sounds really harsh lol.
I'm just saying that, yes, people who I think do a good job analyzing the league (PFF, Voch) don't rate Stafford as highly as you do and/or think this is a lot to give up for probably three-ish years of Stafford.
Voch has a decent sized YouTube account, but I don't think he analyzes NFL full-time. I think he's a high school coach or something to that effect as his day job.
Kyler is better than Stafford. Stafford’s great but he doesn’t have the escapability, mobility, or unique play style of Kyler. Stafford’s best feature is probably his deep ball and Kyler’s is actually really underutilized.
I mean, did Stafford win the Madden Pro Bowl MVP? No sir.
The Rams had to overpay, its how Les Snead does business. The real value for Watson before this stupid ass trade happened was a 2021 first ( thats likely top 10 ), a second and a conditional 3rd. Thats the reality. The Rams are just trying to play Madden right now and hyper inflate trade value.
No way. Deshaun is a unicorn. He's a top five QB easily and he's 25 years old. He's worth more than that.
No he isnt, nobody is worth that in todays nfl of draft value. People still think a Ricky Williams or a Herschel Walker level trade is gonna happen, its not. The Rams overpaid, and have been overpaying the last few seasons cause they spent their cap the wrong way. La is still gonna fall short. The Texans were'nt wrong in giving Watson the extension, they were wrong in keeping the coaching staff in place 3 years too long cause they were smitten by disciples of Belichick and still are. In regards to the 2016 draft class, how good of a spot are the Cowboys in right now. They wanted to try and pay Dak slightly less than market, but thats management doing what they gotta do. Then he chose to take the franchise tag and was injured, which is the best case for Dallas and worst case for Dak. If Dallas had a higher pick this year and felt great about one of the QB's that are avail, they could pull the trigger and have even more luxuries than they already have. ( eagles fan btw being objective even when it comes to dallas ) Philly shouldve never extended Carson when they did, they couldve just let him play out this year and seen how ass he was. You then franchise for one season just to confirm and gone full out with Hurts or looked at another veteran QB the following offseason while Hurts sat another year and got even better.
Rams being the Rams. They wouldve given 3 first round picks to GB I bet.
Nah. A guy who's probably going to be a top five quarterback for the better part of a decade is worth a couple firsts, at least. Players way less valuable than Deshaun get traded for two firsts.
Laremy Tunsil fetched two firsts, a second, Kenny Stills, a fourth, and a sixth. Of course, BOB was a historically bad GM, but it happens. Deshaun is a gamechanger on a level Tunsil could never be.
The consistent thinking in league circles has been that the Texans should get three first-round picks for Watson, if/when they decide to trade him. The Texans have a path to trying to get more, if they play it smart. (More on that still to come.)
So how high will it go? Based on conversations with multiple General Managers, the loose consensus was three first-round draft picks. As one G.M. put it, if the first of the first-round picks lands in the top 10 of the 2021 draft, that would help get it done.
Anyone else surprised that the Texans didn't try to get McDaniels as their head coach?
I'm assuming that his plan is to just wait until Belichick decides to hang it up unless he can land in a perfect situation. Also, some owners may be wary about him accepting and then backing out.

he seems like a super confident dude, but he's definitely seem first hand the grass is not greener. he's in the perfect gig, if it's not a slam dunk opportunity no reason to leave again

Really good, relatively short (33 min) ESPN Daily podcast hosted by Pablo Torre and featuring Bill Barnwell where they mostly cover the Stafford-Goff trade, but move to Deshaun at the 19-minute mark. Barnwell invokes the Herschel Walker trade lol:
He says teams that wanted Stafford will be even more desperate now, so you've got teams like the Broncos, Jets, Niners, Dolphins, Pats, Colts, Panthers, and DC probably interested in Deshaun. Add to that that it seems unlikely that Rodgers or Wentz get traded and Rivers likely retiring, Deshaun is possibly the only option. Those are levels of demand and supply that could make for a massive haul going to the Texans. He also makes the point that Deshaun is better than Stafford in every way, and I'm leaning toward the two picks going out from LA being more about getting rid of Goff than valuing Stafford that way, but it has to be a consideration.
To refresh our memories, the Walker trade was three firsts, three seconds, a third, a sixth, and four players (all defenders, which is funny, but the players weren't the point at all). The Cowboys also sent out a couple thirds, a fifth, and a tenth rounder.
It was a hijacking, and Jimmy Johnson immediately said he had committed "The Great Train Robbery". Walker and the Vikings made the playoffs that year, losing in the divisional round, and Walker spent two more years in Minnesota, missing the playoffs in each, before signing with Philly.
Anyway, Deshaun Watson should be valued higher than Walker. He's two years younger, and an elite talent at the most important position in sports. It's rare for a player like Watson to be available in this way, this early in their career. Will it be three firsts and three seconds, plus? Idk. But if he moves it's going to be a ton of draft capital getting it done. And it could conceivably be worth it, whereas the Walker trade was not.
Analysis of the Stafford trade was mostly what we've been talking about. The Rams wanted to get rid of Goff, Stafford is better than Goff, the Rams don't value first rounders (drafting Todd Gurley might do that to you). Barnwell thinks the trade raised the Rams' ceiling, which I think we all agree with, but they could lose as many as four free agents from their #1 defense, so he's doubtful that it makes them Super Bowl favorites, which they bring up Dan Orlovsky recently saying.
Not only 4 hours after posting this, I went to the bookstore to grab some stuff and there's a massive crowd outside. I was confused because classes started weeks ago and the book rush should've been over. I finally get in and Matthew Stafford is actually there for some sort of signing. I casually passed by and told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”. I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen UGA hats and notebooks in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the hats and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
