Just got an email that CMS (a federal agency that regulates Medicare/Medicaid payments. They suck for a lot of other reasons but not this one) is going to mandate vaccines for all nursing home staff, which is a BFD. A lot of people I know are going to bitch about this but I am personally thrilled.
Yeah, he escaped any criticism and will probably wait til he can tour without the restrictions. Which means no Garth til 2023.
California making indoor events of 1,000 or more require neg test or proof of vaxx starting sept 20th
The 1,000-people requirement makes me feel better about some of the upcoming shows that I bought tickets to back in May/June when things were looking good.

I had to check the capacity of the observatory in north park and it's 1100 so right at the bubble but does that mean they will only have these requirements for sold out shows?

I would think they go by the capacity of the venue and not the actual attendance. Seems like it'll be a logistical nightmare if shows hit 1k+ capacity the day before.

I'm more worried that they just avoid the requirement entirely by calling 975 tickets a sellout instead of 1100.

Yeah, I went and checked the capacity after I posted and have the same concern. It seems like the revenue from selling another 125 tickets at $30-$50 plus another 125 people in concession sales would far outweigh the cost of having several more people on hand to check vax/test status at the door, but I imagine there are other factors they'd weigh.
And assuming that 1,000 includes staff, band members, road crew, etc., would that mean they'd have to stop sales more like 950?

Some kickers on the missouri republican above:
1. Sara was in charge of the Missouri Pharmacy Association from 2015 - 2017 2. Sara is running for the seat of the congresswoman that her husband worked for (Vicky) 3. Vicky got hundreds of thousands of dollars in PPP loans for her farm

I also didn't know that Live Nation bought both Observatory venues in 2019 but I guess that means they will leave it up to the artists? I'm pretty sure both of us are concerned about the same show (Gary Numan) so I hope they say something soon.

Im sure somebody will bring it to their attention and they amend stuff in the order. There likely ends up being specifics regarding capacity. Cities have records for all these venues cause the fire marshall needs to know that type of thing. So what happens to any venue that cooks their records then, hopefully a liquor license is put on the line and they obey.
the North Park Observatory had its liquor license suspended a few years ago, so I'm guessing they'd be extra careful about following regulations after that.

The independent venue I'm seeing Future Islands at is requiring vax cards now. Welcome news, and unsurprising as Lawrence is in a liberal county (one of only like 3)
Went to Killers at Terminal 5 last night and mask wearing was pretty much non-existant. It was vax AND negative test required so feel pretty good about it but still going to be a long time until I (and I assume many) feel fully comfortable being in a packed indoor environment again.

We really do set a lot of store in the power of a slight breeze these days.
This isn't my doctor, but he is at the same hospital and in the same group as my PCP.
The implications of this are so wild it makes my head spin. I don't know what to think. I know the right thing is to treat any patient no matter what, but there is a part of me that sympathizes, maybe even cheers the doctors decision.
To think what this doctor has dealt with to make him reach this point.

Wouldn't that violate the Hippocratic Oath?
yup.
to be clear with my statement i'm just being brutally honest about my initial emotional reaction. i think that doctor should treat his patients but to think of the frustration that made him put that sign up.
