But its even more hypocritical of the unvaccinated to go to a doctor to seek treatment when its been right in their face for the last 8 months and for fucking free. Now lets see how they enjoy those medical bills after they get out of the hospital alive.
idk, "We need to build a lot of trust in the medical system ASAP in order to convince people who are skeptical for any number of idiosyncratic reasons to get a lifesaving vaccine. Let's do that by making people who don't get vaccinated pay thousands and thousands of dollars to us" does not strike me as a particularly winning idea.
I understand that Doctor’s frustration, but we take an oath to put the patient’s needs before our own prejudices. Refusing to treat them isn’t going to convince them to get vaccinated. Talking to them EVERY TIME you see them might.
Yes, people should die when they're hypocrites, and the medical insurance industry is good when it harms people who I don't like.
Yeah, you def gotta save everyone. But for people who are living in these areas where the hospitals are overrun, a question. Do people generally speaking seem to realize the level of the crisis, or do people think it’s NBD

They dont think it exists at al til theyre going to get a tube shoved down their throat. Ignorance being bliss at work at its highest level.
So did Garth make this cool now to just cancel and country acts seem to be saving lives rather than showing off their anti vaxx/mask views while killing others?

FWIW, I'd rather also have it that doctors treat everybody equally. But if their (mental) resources are limited and they're dealing with a bunch of dumbfucks, I won't hold it against them for playing triage and deciding who deserves their attention.

That's tricky. We're not quite overrun here in Houston currently, ICU capacity is half to two-thirds full, so maybe I'm not one to answer. It gets talked about on the news a lot, but I don't think most people are thinking about it very hard. I did get an alert on my phone a few hours ago about how bad it is.

My boss doesn't believe it. It's all bullshit. Everyone in the hospital is just being entered as covid, they don't all really have it. No other illness exists now. Blah blah blah

Yeah, if it's a triage thing, I can see that being a factor.

What I don’t understand is why some of these states like TN aren’t surfing their ICU capacity. When NY got drilled at the beginning of all this, we converted everything we could into an ICU bed. Shit, they turned the Javits Center into one big ICU.

It looks like they are. I guess it's not quite as bad as NYC because the population is so much smaller and more spread out.

More beds don’t help if you don’t have the staff. And we don't. We originally had overflow units, but they dismantled that in July because……..COVID OVER.
Vandy pediatrics has all but said if your child gets sick, you’ll have to wail until someone else’s child dies to get a bed. But hey, we don’t need masks in school.

My mom works at UT in Knoxville. She was telling me last weekend that they were temporarily shutting down the whole endoscopy unit and all the nurses in that unit has been told that they should come to work on Monday and would be given assignments. They were also going to be using the old endoscopy area for more icu beds.
She works in the infusion center, and they do regeneron there. She said that they had been down to maybe three or four treatments a week, but that they had done 24 just on the previous Friday.
Conservative talk radio host Phil Valentine has died following a lengthy battle with COVID-19.
Recently Phil Valentine voiced skepticism about the COVID-19 vaccine. In December of 2020 he tweeted "I have a very low risk of A) Getting COVID and B) dying of it if I do. Why would I risk getting a heart attack or paralysis by getting the vaccine?"

I don't get why antivaxxers think that the impact of Covid would be less than potential side effects of the vaccine. I mean, I get that logic doesn't come into play with the vast majority of these people but still...
He was my customer several years ago when I worked at a different store. He was anti-vax, anti-mask, anti-BLM, anti-gay, anti-climate change, and pro Trump. In other words, we had nothing in common. But in spite of all that, I had hoped he would pull through.

This. I’m currently sitting with my grandmother who can’t see really any more is literally “playing” a pretend computer in the air yet last month I was here and we were out shopping at the mall. Covid can and will fuck you up. Especially if you have ANY issues before.
