This was an outdoor concert with proof of vaccine required…
Strangely enough theres nearly a million people every week who go to an NFL game and have to abide by a vaxx or neg test requirement. And none of them have been tied to being a super spreader. So what gives. The other handful of occasions when this has occured was due to people faking results or cards.

Have tickets to the Odyssey event at Avant Gardener in NYC on 12/31-1/1 and it looks like they're still moving forward with the event, which is terribly irresponsible. To have 5-6K people dancing all night in a venue is insane for NYC right now. The show goes from 11pm on NYE continuously through 2am on Sunday and Rufus Du Sol, Maceo Plex, Solomun, Anna, Charlotte De Witt, all have sets.
Ticketing was done through the DICE app and there's no option for a refund due to covid and they don't allow you to list them on Stubhub. Anyone familiar with how to sell tickets purchased on the DICE app?
So is this the thread where you post if you spent Christmas with vaccinated relatives and one is now COVID positive? Want to post in the correct fucking thread.
On our way home to quarantine and get a PCR test tomorrow.

My dad waited until I drove three hours to tell me he was sick during Christmas. Now I'm sick. I have a fancy BinaxNow Covid test leftover from a recent vacation, and it came back negative. But I'm still sick and my dad sucks for not telling me beforehand.
Its not like there's a pandemic or anything. Just have family over for the holidays no matter how bad you feel. Its fine, whatever.
i feel like in order for events to continue they should be vax+booster required. obviously it would be best for them to be paused again despite that sucking but also these touring artists need a source of income if the fed gov isnt going to do anything
or how about just negative test? Because clearly the vax doesn’t do anything to stop spread, only severe illness. Literally everyone that I know that has coronavirus right now is vaccinated.

I know a couple of people that tested negative on their first day of symptoms and then tested positive a couple days later. If you are still experiencing symptoms in a couple days you should test again. Fingers crossed you don't have it!

the variants have only gotten more transmissable. luckily it seems like omicron is more mild. I have no faith that the future variants will be better than the current ones, so pushing a show until later in the year IMO opens those shows up to a worse version of COVID.

Thanks! I'm on day 2 and tested today, but I have one more test if it doesn't go away in the near future. The kicker is that my wife is pregnant, so even if it is just a cold, I'm trying to stay 6 feet away from her at all times.

If you thought rapid tests were hard to find now, I can’t imagine if every festival required one. Then people are either hoarding them till the festival zapping the current supply when they are needed or they are running out the week of the festival. With plenty of people complaining they booked travel and hotel yet can’t find a test.

I was able to order a pair of QuickVue packs this morning on Amazon. If you keep looking throughout the day they are there, but only like for like 15 min at a time then it's back to sold out.

Just maybe that's because the vast majority of the unvaccinated are selfish assholes who would never bother with taking a Covid test.

Anyway, events need to have requirements for both vaccination and testing. I know that’s not gonna happen on a large scale, but if you’re already highly contagious before you even test positive, getting a negative test 72 hours before hand doesn’t mean shit. Especially if you’re the type of asshole who is unvaccinated and going out to concerts, cause you’re probably not making responsible decisions leading up to the event. And ya, there is a higher rate of breakthroughs now, so just being vaccinated doesn’t really cover it anymore either (whereas if everyone was vaccinated during Delta would have stopped the whole wave)

If the goal is to stop the spread of Omicron, I think a strict masking policy is more valuable than either the test or vaccine requirement. But if I am a promoter, what I want the most is the vaccine requirement to make sure no one dies at one of my shows and to take away that liability.
