I picked up some kind of congestion & sore throat from my partner's three year old nephew over Christmas so I decided to go get a PCR test on Tuesday just to rule out Covid. Had to wait in line for two hours, and this facility was only accepting 1. people with active symptoms and 2. had an order from their doctor. Anyway... got the negative result on Wednesday morning, so I had to go into the office.
Eight hours later, I get a text from the only person I had significant interaction with at the office stating he tested positive on an at-home test that evening. -_- This person is a notoriously bad mask wearer, but I was wearing mine, and our longest interaction was maybe 2 minutes. I don't know if it's worth it to try to go find another clinic for a test, or if I should just steal an at-home test from a friend. Thoughts?

If you don't have symptoms it seems like taking 2 at home tests is the best way to deal with this. Right now.
The second you feel like shit, you know what you gotta do. But from someone who just had a muscle fatigue thing that made them too paranoid to go home for Christmas - New Years; we live in complicated times. I was going to just do a test like a use to at the van up the street just because I wanted to go to NJ today. The line at 9am was almost 2hrs long and I have no regular symptoms. I was advised to wait to get some rapid tests from my pharmacy around noon
Just got a robocall from my daughter's school that the state is sending rapid test kits to schools for every student to get tested before returning from winter break. That's pretty awesome, though I wish taking them wasn't voluntary.

The San Diego public schools sent each student home with two tests at winter break. They're supposed to take one tomorrow and then the other on Monday before returning to school.
my results usually came back in 24 hours but took like 4 days last time, kinda pointless at that point but I get that they're super overwhelmed with the surge + the holidays.
So work has decided that omicron is too transmittable for us to test the day of working and we are now having to go to the office and test on Sunday. But still only testing once a week in my department.
The head of covid and I might have a bet on how many will test positives in my crew.
One more in my crew tested positive last week after my boss tested positive. One of the actors tested positive that week, worked a whole day and was gone before results came in, which is why the change was put in place.
We had one positive per month until Thanksgiving. We've had 35 people test positive since. 20 were in one week. This shit is insane.
or how about just negative test? Because clearly the vax doesn’t do anything to stop spread, only severe illness. Literally everyone that I know that has coronavirus right now is vaccinated.
Just maybe that's because the vast majority of the unvaccinated are selfish assholes who would never bother with taking a Covid test.
Most of them claim to be Christians too. It’s just a different type of heavily armed Christianity than Jesus was trying to teach about when he was around. Now it’s about wealth, judgment, condemnation and two scoops of mental instability.
Tested on Sunday and came out negative. My friends i was around with over the weekend constantly tested negative throughout this week. Came down with a hard flu on Tuesday night coming back home from Texas. Last few days have been rough but figured it was the flu due to prior negative test and all my friends constantly testing.
Tested today, positive. Happy New Years I guess. Covid round 2.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Woof, took 4 days to book the test and being told another 3-4 days for results, I'll probably feel better by then since I'm already slightly better than yesterday, which was easily my worst day. Throat still feels really painful, but the congestion has moved up to my nose, alleviating the cough.
Meanwhile, my family has clearly gathered how pissed off I am at them for ignoring my "Christmas visits in shifts" request, so in addition to being cagey about their symptoms and refusing to test, they are now gaslighting me by saying "It's just a cold. You're fine." Bitch, I lived with you for over 20 years, and it took a week of everyone else in the house being sick for me to catch your colds. I'm not catching a cold in a 90-minute visit.
