Middle child tested negative at the National guard facility. He and I were boosted 8 days before Christmas, and I never got any symptoms. We are going hang with the family who is positive outside and with masks though they are better. Happy New year Joyrider. Fucking sucks but maybe you end up super immune in the future?
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Thanks! Honestly, this feels worse than my first bout with Covid. I didn't have any coughing or throat issues the first time around but my throat is real sore now. 2 straight days of high fever, chills, sinuses and fatigue with no appetite. Here's hoping this is the last time I have to deal with Covid for a long time.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

If this helps to hear, I can tell you that I had a similar experience this month. My first go round last year was primarily fatigue, some flash fevers, headaches, zero smell or taste. No cough or anything of the like. This round started as a sore throat and then a terrible bronchial cough that then exacerbated the sore throat so, so bad. It felt like my throat and bronchials were on fire. Salt water gargles and, like Druid said, showers helped so much. Then it moved up into my sinuses and behind my eyes. Never lost my smell or taste I did get a round of Prednisone that helped TREMENDOUSLY with my cough. I started getting sick Wednesday around midnight, felt definite improvement by Sunday. Still have a little icky now and then, but am back to work and back to working out. Last time I didn't feel right for about a month. I did read some hope that folks who had the first version, and are vaccinated, and had this version may be set? Hope that isn't wishful thinking!

Breathing in shower steam 20 minutes at a time was a huge help for my COVID cough last year. Big co-sign on that one. I also recommend drinking a constant flow of hot liquids - I basically would drink mugs of hot water one after the other to keep things loose in my throat and chest.

Update: My dad and step-mom, who refused to test all week because "It's just a cold", finally caved to a home test they apparently had lying around this whole time and have tested positive. While that seals my fate, I simply responded to their text with a link to The Hives' early 2000's hit, "Hate to Say I Told You So".
It's a strange mix of anger, enjoying karma, and worry about my grandma who apparently visited after I bolted Christmas early.

I am boosted and got covid. I went hard on the going out for a few days like an idiot and tested positive two days later. Only a mild sore throat, still full taste and smell, no aches or fever. Unvaxxed step father in law is in hospital currently. Vaccines work.
Oh and my wife and brother who stayed with us, both boosted, tested negative. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pretty much everyone I was hanging with around the time frame of when I caught it tested negative too. Vaccinated, boosted AND unvaccinated people 🤷🏽♂️
Got a sore throat a week before Christmas which turned into some mild congestion that cleared up a few days later. Three negative tests before Christmas. Then my fiance came down with something similar and tested positive from a test Monday but she's feeling pretty much fine now. I re-tested negative yesterday. Stuck on our couch again this NYE despite both of us being vaccinated and boosted. 😑

jesus fuck this shit needs to end. its so hard being able to deal with multiple realities where you need keep the grind on in hospitals and supply chains so society can keep functioning. i feel beyond loneley and depressed and need to hand out with friends but they isolating bc their family members who are boosted are crazy sick and i understand that but resent them for it despite having to go to the hospital at the beginning of all this but that memory is fading... it sucks so much that everyone you know seems to be doing the best that they possibly can and existence is still shit

My coworker today is dealing with her fiance's mother and step-father being pulled off of life support at age 52 and 59 and dying. Unvaxxed. I hate bringing it up anymore. Deleted a post last week about a close friend who died at age 51, unvaxxed. Meanwhile, myself and and Katy and multiple others here who are vaxxed keep trucking with another episode of COVID. And I have no less sorrow for the loss of life, because I am a nurse and a social worker and I love human beings and I understand the human condition and how fucked up it is. But I also get how we are the masters of our own disasters at times, in various ways. The way we don't take care of our selves. We drink too much. We don't exercise enough. We don't always listen to our Drs (lets be honest). We don't eat right. We don't sleep enough. We don't take our medications the way we are prescribed. Me included. FUCK.

i hope you find peace but until that happens you are loved though that is not enough for what you do
I’ve been reading up on the side effects of PAXLOVID. Holy shit. If you ever get offered a RX for it, and that will take awhile because it’s in such short supply, make sure the pharmacist knows ALL the meds you take. This thing interacts with everything. Has to do with the CYP3A enzyme. I won’t bore you with that.
Any idea when I could be able to take the booster after this bout with Covid? I hadn’t been able to schedule one and remember there were recommendations for a certain amount of time after catching Covid to take your first Vax shot. Is it the same with boosters? Looks like lots of events gonna be requiring boosters now so I’ll be SOL if I have to wait a while to take one.

If you did not get monoclonal antibodies, then you can get the booster after you symptoms are resolved.

Good to know! Was worried there for a second. Recommendation on boosters? Took Pfzier first go around.
