What medicines should I get? I was just going to get Sudafed, but if it's covid, will that be enough? Would DayQuil be better?
If your cough is mild, I would suggest Cepacol lozenges, which really helped me. Suck on 2 or 3 per day. The sore throat was the worst part of my ordeal, and it'll help suppress some of the cough too.

It's really annoying because it isn't really a sore throat. It's like when you're singing all night and then you blow out your voice pushing it too far. So not scratchy or itchy but a dull soreness if that makes sense. The Theraflu felt amazing on it, and I am sipping on regular hot tea.
For me its the fucking runny nose that won't stop. When I lay down it runs down the back of my throat causing me to cough up mucus balls. It's disgusting and annoying. It feels like I am having asthma issues without all the asthma bullshit. Also the whole lung thing feeling tight or like when you suck in the cold, I don't know just off. Again, it isn't anything bad, just all annoying.
Oh and for those worrying about thejeremy. He has NO symptoms, which is GREAT! His immune system is at tip top peak right now because it is actually time for him to get his next treatment. So if we were going to catch it I guess this variant, at this moment, is the best we could hope for. BTW, I REALLY hate this timeline.
Pretty good; happy to be vaxxed. I've got a sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, and on and off headaches. And while that seems like a lot, each of them is so incredibly mild that I'm not taking medicine and they're only a minor nuisance at worst. Though I can definitely see why this would be a motherfucker if the volume was turned up on the severity. But for me I'm just taking it as an opportunity to get some reading/music done and straighten up the house.
Why is herd immunity out? Is superimmunity better?
Still have the drip, throat is still dull. Took nightquil last night and passed the fuck out at 9pm. Being quarantined for for real real sucks assholes. I really want to go roller skate but I don't want to mask or worry that I might infect someone. I ordered contactless food last night and the driver refused to leave it outside. I am so over this and this timeline. Very glad I am vaccinated and boosted.

Herd immunity can no longer be reached. Not enough people will get the vaccine. Superimmunity is when enough people either get the vaccine or COVID. And thanks to Omicron, we are going to have that real soon.
These medical guys explain it better.
Omicron will give much of the population what some scientists call “superimmunity”—stronger protection against new variants and even future coronaviruses. Normal life will be possible even as the virus continues to spread and mutate. Superimmunity won’t necessarily stop people from being infected or transmitting the virus. But most people who get infected, even with a more virulent variant, will experience mild or no symptoms.

I feel like people were referring to both things as herd immunity, no? Basically, terminology aside, some form of societal immunity will happen.
And I've had a couple Doordash drivers refuse no-contact delivery these last two years. One of them full-on fought me over the phone about it, claiming that if he didn't personally hand me the food, he would be held liable and charged if the food went missing or if I tried to lie about it for a free meal. You can report those drivers for COVID reasons. Pretty much the only times I won't leave 5 stars.
The driver didn't give a reason, but I put the message on the order to put it on the table next to the door. Yelled through the door to be just ignored until I opened the door. It was not doordash it was Domino's. Maybe they want the covid? I hold no blame if they got it, although I was masked and hope that they don't.
So thejeremy woke up with a fever and not feeling good today. Today is the first day that I no longer have a drip. Kyle is still negative. This shit is so wild. I gave thejeremy some nightquil and he is sleeping. The fever has gone down and he is back under the covers. I really hope this doesn't hit him hard. I am worried.
EDIT: I lie. I have a fever now and I am feeling a bit shitty.

I know someone personally who is fully vaxxed/boosted and has also had Covid 3 separate times. Most recently last week. I hope he just has a terrible immune system and makes bad decisions, but will be interesting to see if getting Omicron will really protect against catching future variants. I'm sure it will cut the severity, but it Omicron is already less severe as is. Anecdotal evidence means nothing but I do actually know this person

Damn I feel for this person. Genetics are also involved here, and that person got short shifted for sure.
All others - I also tested positive last week, but didn't post here. One day of feeling really yucky and besides that mostly just was cough/raspy voice/drip and little lack of drive (not the extreeeeme lethargy I got from vaccine/booster).
Luckily, I got it just early enough where it won't affect my family vacation next week. My sister and niece (no contact with me) just got it, and it seems like they are going to have to cancel all vacation plans. No fancy week-long Cartagena vacation for them.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I had my first real close call with getting infected myself and had the closest person to me get a bad case over the last weeks. Our sis Brook was hanging with us all weekend a few weeks ago, and she started getting bad symptoms that Monday or Tuesday.
She never got officially tested, but it was more than obvious she had it. She works with a girl that was around her pretty close for a few days before she tested positive, and she had a laundry list of symptoms which were pretty dead-on for what's described with Omicron. She's double vaxxed but hasn't gotten her booster yet, so it was a rough go for a few days but it was tolerable and passed soon enough. The poor girl could barely get off her couch one day, I double masked and brought her some stuff to help out.
She was playing cards and video games and stuff with me and the wife just a day before she started showing symptoms, so we locked down expecting to feel it ourselves before too long. I don't know if I've got good genes, if it was the booster, or the one-a-day immune booster vitamins we take, but we never felt a thing. I wanted to get a test to see if we were just asymptomatic, but scheduling an accurate lab-tested one would have taken at least five or six days to schedule so there didn't seem like much of a point to it.
Morale of the Story: Boosters and a diet of immune boosting vitamins seem to do the trick, at least in our anecdotal experience. We had just as much exposure to Brook as she did to her coworker, and she definitely had it. We never noticed a difference.
thejeremy is fucking miserable. I feel awful for him. I finally officially and for real for real feel good today. No more drip, no more fever and not tired as fuck today. I can't say the same for him. He feels like his nerves are on fire and he hurts to even move. IDK what to do. I just keep feeding him nightquil.
I have my international flight coming up (Saturday-Saturday). My first flight is a few days after all CDC isolation and additional masking recommendations end and the return is a week later (about three weeks after sickness). I also have felt really good for past 5+ days (and my at home on Friday was negative), so I feel as confident as one can be that I will pass the testing requirement to come back into the country. Do you think there is a reason to try to hunt down a "documentation of recovery" to cover my bases? I only have a few days to get this done, so getting an appt somewhere would be hard/expensive and I am not even sure where to start. Thoughts if I should be good or should be trying to find that?
Related, I would love to get some outside thoughts on my sister's travel. She's on the cusp of fully cancelling, but also considering just arriving a few days later to wait out the CDC recommended period and then maybe staying at a hotel rather than staying with us as an extra buffer. Obviously she has lots of things to consider but I am asking for thoughts specifically pertaining to the return too. She would be over 2 weeks at her return, but she is also worried about needing that document, but probably couldn't get it before the trip as there.
TLDR: How long are people generally testing positive on a viral test after contracting COVID? If someone is out of the recommended isolation and masking period (and has been feeling good and symptom free for much longer), is it pretty safe to say that a viral test would test negative? Who knows things about getting a documentation of recovery?

thejeremy is really not doing good. I've tried to get him to the ER or to call his doctor and he hasn't/won't. This morning I tried to put my foot down and he was just horrible to me. Idk what to do.

Do you have, or can you get, a pulse oximeter? Maybe having some concrete number to look at will help both of you gauge how serious things are? I don’t know - it could be a way to take some of the subjectivity out of deciding if/when seeking treatment is necessary.

Like there thing that goes on your finger to check oxygen? I have one of those. His breathing isn't the issue. His whole body is in pain like it's on fire. I think it's good nerves due to his MS. But he can't do anything, he's basically stuck in bed and crying out to even move. Which is making him really not nice.

This thing goes after our weaknesses. Since he has MS, his is nerve related. YOU call his Doctor this morning and talk to them. See if he suggests going the hospital. I don't know if there is really anything they could do except give him pain medication. But his Doctor would know best.
I'm sure he is not nice because he is hurting so bad. Try to over look that and don't let it upset you. Have any good pain meds you can give him to knock him out?

I did were at the ER.
I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. Sending lots of good thoughts for them to get him fixed up quickly.
I can't believe they aren't doing the IV treatment anymore. I know three people that got that and it made them 100% better. Idk what they're going to do for him but anything has to better then him just burning up and feeling like he's dying.

Sending you both love, Vieux! Sotrovimab is the only IV treatment that works against Omicron - hopefully they have some in stock there.
