Well, I have COVID(again, had a case in Feb.) Tested positive last night after testing negative the day I got home. Probably means I picked it up while at or traveling to Glasto (I was definitely the only one wearing a mask on the coach from London.)
Glad I got both full festivals in, and managed to make it home.
Damn. That really sucks. I hope it's a very mild case. Glad you got both festivals in before contacting. Feel better fast.

I get to stop isolating/masking at home today. It’s been 10 days since my first positive test, and I’ve tested negative at home since two days ago. My symptoms were VERY mild this time - no fever, just light nasal congestion that was easier than some allergy days I’ve had this year. I did this whole regimen of gargling with betadine 4x a day, using an iota-carrageenan nasal spray every four hours, and doing a sinus rinse twice daily, but the truth is it was probably the fact I got my fourth shot on June 1st that made it like this. It didn’t keep me from getting it while traveling, but it made it a breeze from a severity standpoint.
SO FAR (and I am knocking on wood while I say this), my wife and Inforoo Baby are fine. We’re not fully out of the woods with them until six days from now, since it’s possible I was still infectious, like, three days ago, but I’ve also been wearing an n95 in the house at all times, we’ve had the windows wide open, and I’ve been isolating as much as possible, so the chances are lower. Our big worry was me having infected them before I knew I was sick, but we’re getting pretty past the point of that being possible, timeline-wise.
So, yeah. COVID jail the past 10 days has sucked, but I’m grateful everyone else is healthy as of now, and just looking forward to not masking all day, every day - the bridge of my nose may be permanently bruised at this point.
Glad to hear you are progressing Jorge. My middle kid who lives at my apartment tested positive today. He worked a bunch of private parties during Essence (Meek Mill, Ying Yang Twins, etc.) and figures he picked it up from the crowds at the venue. He spent all day yesterday hanging with his sister, brother and mother, so it's not like I'm wanting to beg them for a place to stay now either. I don't feel like driving to Florida to gtfo so I'm going to pretty much have to isolate at home for a few days. Luckily I have a few tests at home and will probably test if I get any symptoms or if not, by Saturday. Like you, I had my 4 shots - just never caught the virus yet that I know of.

I think this victory calls for a new InfoRoo Baby picture dump

Well, in the spirit of the thread, here's Inforoo Baby after receiving her first dose of the Moderna vaccine!
Finally tested negative today, 13 days after first symptoms and eight days after first positive test. Still feel a little tired and congested but glad to officially be on the tail end of this.

Is it even possible I've never had it at this point? I have been sick and convinced so many times but have never had a positive. Even my kid had it and I slept in his bed with him while he coughed in my face for days on end.

? I tested negative again today because I wasn’t going out to eat crispy whole fish without making sure.

I mean there's nurses that worked in the COVID unit the whole time and never got sick or tested positive. So it is possible. They don't know why but they do know it's possible.

But I assume those nurses were wrapped up in PPE and also were super cautious outside of the work place?
Some people can’t get it. They don’t know why. I thought I might be one. WRONG.
Ha ha same. And this new strain that's coming down the pike makes me nervous as hell. It wouldn't be so bad to get it again if long covid wasn't such a thing BUT IT IS VERY MUCH A THING.

I don't want to catch BA5 or Long covid. Please and thank you.

Glad you're feeling better bud. Hope the fatigue and congestion goes away asap!

anyone else getting very worried about these BA.4 and BA.5 strains running wild? feels like we may be getting another surge in the same vein as december 2021 but even worse

Very. Especially now since I'm expected to be in office 100% of the time on a huge college campus where nobody masks anymore but me.

My favorite furry molecular biologist did a fairly reassuring thread on BA.4/BA.5 today.
I can't say for sure that my family got BA4 or 5 but it seems likely given that the strains are dominant now. Whatever it is, it's super contagious, at least in San Diego. Four of my closest friends plus my aunt plus several other acquaintances have all gotten it in the last two weeks, all through separate incidents, and none of them had previously had a confirmed case of covid.

I feel too dumb to read this lol. I'm glad to hear it's reassuring and will take that to the bank as a summarization.

As long as people's symptoms remain mild, it'll be okay. But, we still should be concerned with those that develop long-COVID. It seems that these cases are no longer in the spotlight, yet they are continuing to occur and plague some.

And there you go, said it right there. A lot of peeps who have been getting it the past month or so are those that NEVER had a confirmed case of COVID. So for those of us who have our shots, and have had it, we are in pretty good shape.

Anecdotal but my experience would corroborate this. I'm vaxxed and boosted and had COVID in January, and was unmasked in a car for an hour+ with someone who would test positive the next day. Escaped unscathed. In fact now that I think about it all the people I know who've gotten it in the past couple months hadn't had it before (I think - if you're one of those people please correct me). Yay antibodies!
