My pharm tech friend always gives me updates, apparently the number of paxlovid she dishes out jumped from 2 to 30 this past week
Timing makes sense, perhaps I'm not the only first timer getting hit.
Maybe this is the strain that gets the rest of the population that hasn't had it yet? My girl, Alice is a first timer. She is not having a good time either. Her symptoms are way worse than what I had.
I read somewhere they think about 60-80% have had it in the US. You gotta figure it was just a matter of time before there was a strain that wiped through the rest. Not sure if that's what's happening, the MD numbers are actually going down. But perhaps the people getting infected are the "omicron holdouts".
I really just have to make it through this long weekend in Montreal (although I will be taking the same precautions I always do) and then I am going to run to my doc as soon as I get the email that they have the omicron booster. Keeping fingers crossed that it's next week.

I'll be holding out until November or December since I got both a fourth shot and COVID in June, but I'm not sure which one I'm going to take when I go. I'm 3X Pfizer and 1X Moderna. Maybe I'll go Moderna, again? I guess I'll have to look at the data and see which one generated the strongest immune response.

Just got my free COVID test in the mail from the post office. They literally expire an 8 days. 🤬🙄
The FDA changed the expiration dating guidelines for a lot of antigen tests and extended the expiration on most of them by a few months. If yours are iHealth, you can see the new expiration here. If they're another brand, some googling should give you the new expiration date.

Just checked them and two of the eight boxes are now good until January and the other six until February.
Has anyone gotten the Omicron booster yet? I’m curious if the side effects are the same - I’ll need to plan it around my work shifts if so.
Is there a choice of moderna & Pfizer again? I think I’d like to mix it up but wasn’t sure if there were choices.
Theoretically there is a choice, but it depends on what your local providers have. Around here most have Pfizer but I have seen a couple with Moderna.
I will definitely have gotten this booster by the end of the week - have an appointment for Friday, but hoping my medical provider gets it this week and I can get an earlier appointment, or I might even go tomorrow if I have the time. And then two weeks after I will be loosening up my indoor mask-wearing considerably, may still wear it on the subway because that place festers germs, lol.

Probably going to get my new booster Wednesday. I recently moved states but my uhaul pods don't get here till Sunday and I'm hoping 3 days is enough rebound time. I still don't have a job outside education yet, so I'd rather get it now before (if I ever ) get a new full time job.
Got my first monkeypox vaccine this week, and that kicked my butt way more than any of my Covid shots.
Yeah, I think "pox" prevention shots produce more side effects - my shingles shots kicked my butt. In contrast, none of my Covid shots produced any side effects, not even a sore arm.

I got the Moderna bivalent booster on Friday (9/9) and felt a little meh that night but was able to work the next day. Then I woke up Sunday feeling like total crap before finally using a couple at-home tests Tuesday (9/13) and both coming up positive. However, in a video appointment with my doctor a little earlier, I was told there's so little data on the new shots that it could be a false positive and these are just side effects, or I have COVID and the timing is coincidental. Very confusing.
Long story short - I think my luck finally ran out and I got the thing.
weed smelled like ketchup to me for the longest time. i really would love to see some more extensive studies on the covid parosnia bc that shit is so weird

I rarely have any side effects from any vaccines which makes me wonder if my immune system is even on.
I do have a gnarly red, dry bump from the MPX vaccine though 2+ weeks later.
OMG I obsess about this every time I get a vaccine. The only thing I ever get is a sore arm
I haven't even had the sore arm with any of my five shots (got the updated booster on Monday). I tell myself it's because my immune system is already pretty robust and doesn't have to work so hard, so I don't get the side effects. Who knows though.
