I'm in this weird place where the ones I've seen are genuinely movies I really really like but I've only seen so many so I'd feel bad about abstaining so many.
The last 3 matchups are the only ones I've seen both
I'd say just watch what you can and vote regardless. I don't think most have seen every single one of the films. If you haven't seen either two in a matchup, I think abstaining would be fine.
Climax was freaky awesome and the soundtrack kicks ass. I think The Witch is my favorite so far. I watched The Lighthouse last night, also great.
I've seen all the films on the list besides Waves, First Reformed, and The Farewell. I started but didn't finish A Ghost Story and High Life but I was also on my CPU at the time of watching those so maybe they deserve another chance.
A Ghost Story is so good but it takes a few days to sit with you to realize how good it is. Its very slow and very abstract in its concept so it can be difficult to sit through (a scene of Rooney Mara eating a pie in one 6-minute shot). But it does stick with you after it's over and very..."ambitious" in its ideas.
It's definitely not for everyone. It was a little hard to get through at first but you just have to stick with it. The scene where he reads the note near the end was really great. I gave a small edge to Mid90s though, simply out of nostalgia that movie brought back.

Three of the four I watched yesterday were LOSERS.
Spring Breakers First Reformed Swiss Army Man The Killing Of A Sacred Deer Enemy The Lobster Ex Machina The Witch The Farewell A Ghost Story American Honey Good Time (haven’t seen Uncut Gems yet) Eighth Grade Hereditary (still haven’t watched the Lighthouse) Moonlight Midsommar
I was gonna rent the Lighthouse but I saw it’s coming to streaming in a couple weeks so decided to wait. I might actually watch uncut gems tonight but I love Good Time enough that I felt fine just voting for that.

I was basically the same way with Uncut Gems. Still gonna check out Good Time eventually.
Yeah I thought Locke was very impressive and surprisingly engaging for how incredibly minimalist it is. I feel like it's a feat only Tom Hardy could pull off.
Of the six ties, they are pretty much all of the tough ones.
First Reformed / A Most Violent Year The Florida Project / Killing of Sacred Deer Mid90s / A Ghost Story Good Time / Uncut Gems The Lighthouse / Hereditary Midsommar/ Green Room
If we dont have another person cast a vote by Wednesday night (north america) we will do a runoff.
Both of these movies could've been called "People make stupid decisions for 2 hours".... But Good Time at least kept me interested the whole time. Uncut Gems was pretty hard to watch bc it was just constant SHOUTING.
Just letting the audience know how much money this dude owed to everyone would've made it a lot easier to sit through. I had no investment in his plight bc I had no idea how much he needed to get out of his situation. Though, I guess with him having a gambling problem, it never would've mattered how much he owed, bc it would never be enough for him to pay it back. The end was a cop out tho. I like movies with actual resolutions
I fell behind in my watching project and didn't get to everything. Then I forgot about the voting deadline so sorry about that. That being said ... here you go!
Room vs Spring Breakers First Reformed vs A Most Violent Year
The Last Black Man in San Francisco vs Swiss Army Man The Florida Project vs The Killing of a Sacred Deer (abstain)
Lady Bird vs Enemy Locke vs The Lobster
Ex Machina vs Climax Waves vs The Witch
The Farewell vs High Life Mid90s vs A Ghost Story [abstain]
The Disaster Artist vs American Honey [abstain] Good Time vs Uncut Gems
Eighth Grade vs It Comes At Night The Lighthouse vs Hereditary
Moonlight vs Under the Skin Green Room vs Midsommar
And on a personal note, kinda disappointed but not at all surprised how some of these are going down. Enemy only has two votes? Is Lady Bird really that good?

Yes, Lady Bird was great. Easily one of my top 3 films of 2017. It would definitely make my personal Final 4 on this A24 bracket.
Enemy is one of the movies I watched for this and I did not particularly enjoy it. Lady Bird though speaks to me on a deeply personal level as a person who attended Catholic school in the mid 2000s with a family that was struggling financially. But instead of seeking a college in a city full of culture, I went to Auburn haha.
My vote was actually two votes. Cap'n Mac and I both voted for Good Time
Yeah and then 10goldbees voted for Uncut Gems.
Huh? They were tied before I voted. So then sleepy and I voted for Good Time (+2 - ahead by 2) and 10gb voted for Uncut Gems (+1 - GT still ahead by 1). Was there a second vote for Uncut Gems? I'm so confused. haha.

No, there hasn't been a second vote. I was asking another person, any person, to now vote for Uncut Gems so that it will be a tie again.
