Huh? They were tied before I voted. So then sleepy and I voted for Good Time (+2 - ahead by 2) and 10gb voted for Uncut Gems (+1 - GT still ahead by 1). Was there a second vote for Uncut Gems? I'm so confused. haha.
No, there hasn't been a second vote. I was asking another person, any person, to now vote for Uncut Gems so that it will be a tie again.
There are a handful of moments of calm, but for the most part it's just constant escalation. Relentless. It's like the whole movie is the sequence in Goodfellas when the helicopters are following him.

Room vs Spring Breakers The Last Black Man in San Francisco vs Swiss Army Man The Florida Project vs The Killing of a Sacred Deer Lady Bird vs Enemy Locke vs The Lobster Ex Machina vs Climax Waves vs The Witch The Farewell vs High Life Good Time vs Uncut Gems The Lighthouse vs Hereditary Moonlight vs Under the Skin
The Last Black Man in San Francisco vs Swiss Army Man
And
Mid90s vs A Ghost Story
I'm closing everything else for round one. If there is another vote in the next day for these two I'll count them in round one if not we will do a 4 day tiebreaker.
I enjoyed it but I do feel it's a pretty standard story in its respective over-saturated genre. I think American Honey is a much more interesting lost youth/ coming of age story.

I just watched A Ghost Story for the first time for this runoff. I thought it was absolutely staggering. So beautifully shot, an important and well-told story, and it even has a bop of a song in what is otherwise a very heavy movie.
That being said ... it's very funny to me that out of an 85-minute run-time, seven minutes of the movie are Rooney Mara eating a pie.

Dont forget about the Bonnie Prince Billy house party rant.

Oh yea that was amazing. I'd say that's where the movie went from good to great for me. Any "fuck you" for the nihilist house party guy is generally gonna be good by me haha.
