Prop 1: There will be a poll of all the finalized lineups. The top 4 will be given bye’s and do not compete in the first round (one in each division). The rest are sorted by the order in which they placed. Each “division” will have relatively even strength based on the polling.
There seems to be some division based on ties so I’ll leave that to a different prop if this passes.
umm, I don't think you can just go ahead and set a prop rule, it needs to come from me or Bing.
be patient and let us set a prop please.

lmao Bing asked someone to write one up on the last page. It’s also been the case in past drafts.
How does not knowing the word "bye" correlate with not knowing how brackets work? I just couldn't make up the meaning of the word in that sentence.
Because it's part of brackets. Byes aresomething that anyone familiar with brackets should know. Just trying to save you some stress, if you have no idea what you're getting into.

this is basically what jaz said earlier and yeah, to me it still seems like the most logical way to do this
Actually I think we may be mathing wrong - better to think of it as wildcards instead of byes. Bottom eight are wildcards. Four winners of wildcard matches plus the twelve not wildcards gives us 16, a normal bracket.

1. If we want to keep things completely voter-led, then we could have another poll. Or we could even just ask if two peopleare okay with not having a bye. If someone already clearly has a top 6 lineup out of twenty, they probably wouldn't be too concerned about being in the first round anyway. It wouldn't be hard to find two volunteers. Alternately if that seems like too much or we don't want to ask for/there aren't any volunteers, they could then be chosen at random. Same for question #2. I agree that at some point randomness might have to enter the equation and that's just the rub for some people (and based on this I can see why you want to lead with randomness to avoid the issue entirely), but I just like it being voter-led, and I think between that and just asking if people are okay with being lower-seeded, randomness might not have to enter the equation at all. I don't think it's the biggest deal in the world but I do think everyone should get a chance to be in the tourney in one way or another.
Can you possibly make up a proposition for a rule change? It's a bit overwelming when 3/4 people (and that's no shade at y'all, it's just.. overwelming, for me personally atleast) start asking a dozen of questions. We're trying our best for y'all and I think we're pretty open for changes, even this late.
To put it simply: we do a twenty person poll, rank all participants by votes at the end of the poll to get our seeds, and plug them into this bracket:

this is the same idea basically. As long as everyone can compete in the bracket without there being a lot of polls and it not being randomized, I’m happy.

yeah one thing i was definitely thinking would be an issue, if theres like 4 different polls running at once, that could discourage voting from outside participants. we struggle to get non playing posters to vote as it is with one poll at a time, expecting them to go to 4 different ones would def be a tall order and could skew results.

why are you so against randomization? what's wrong with it?

I think he's said a few times he just wants the best lineups to last longer and not have the #1 and #2 lineups (in his mind) match up in Round #1.

this I can relate with, and think it can actually be an issue.

This only makes sense if there was a drastic change in quality among all the lineups, which is not the case IMO.
No offense, but the point of voting to get more than one opinion to decide. I think there’s a clear top 3, a good second tier of maybe 5-6 and then the rest are pretty even. I would like to see those who have made better lineups be rewarded by having a good silver and bronze, etc.

None taken, but in the past overall results have changed from round to round, no? Like Bing didn't get the first place after the first couple of rounds in the last draft, but he ended up winning.
What I mean is, I don't think there has been just one lineup winning all the rounds of elimination in the past drafts.
But I do understand your last point, as in "better" lineups being rewarded. I just want to include randomization to a degree to mix things up a little.

part of that might be due to people not using all their votes or something which I think the bracket helps with. But there was certainly a select few who were always in the top 5-6, so there were tiers and I think it’s a bad idea to risk having some divisions be overpowered by having too many top tier lineups. I think randomization can be used in tiebreakers but “mixing it up” doesn’t justify potentially fucking someone over first round imo.
