I'm thinking 24 hours for the first round of each day and then 8 hours for each round in those days
Sounds good--but even shorter for first round, then be open to need for extensions? I appreciate the Swiftness of Potent as Ref. You've got a high bar to live up to
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I just think as long as you listening to the players about extensions, it's fine. For example, when I made the deadline 9am today (last night), I was thinking there'd be votes overnight while I was sleeping and I wanted to be the one to break it to the town "hey, you suck!" - this is the joy of being the ref. But I woke up and saw no votes and an extension request and thought that was fine too.
Other thing - there were questions about locked votes, I didn't answer because I felt the rules addressed it clearly enough and I didn't want to influence the game - but a locked vote can be changed, and only means you are part of advancing the game more quickly if there are more locked votes. This can be changed in the rules but needs to be discussed first, IMO, if there's a change coming.
Another rule discussion - that possibly needs to go in the rules thread. Does the mafia have to whack someone at night? I say yes, I'll argue vociferously for it, but if others say no I understand majority rules.
I don't like this, but just out of curiosity what happens if the doctor saves someone so that there's an even number of people?

It's treated the same as a missed whack by the mafia - extra lynch for the town.
Potent did indeed tell us not to be dicks when we insinuated we might not submit a whack, and I was thoroughly surprised by it. I don't think it's dickish, nor do I think Mafia should be forced to submit a whack. I think it just adds extra possibilities, and even then I don't think it's an option that'll be exercised often at all. It's also inconsistent that we can accidentally not submit a whack but can't intentionally not submit a whack.

I think it should be fixed so that the mafia has to submit a whack, they can't miss it accidentally or intentionally.
Also I'm absolutely for shorter rounds but I don't think they should end between like 10-11pm ET and 10-11am PT. I didn't mind doing it this time but in general I don't want to feel like I need to set an alarm for Mafia because things might happen overnight that I want to respond to.

It's a fair argument (and I may have acted rashly). It never crossed my mind that mafia would choose to not whack, because the missed whack is deemed a penalty. I don't like mafia using the penalty against the town. But can also see the other side.
