1. Theo (sorry bb Trist) - both undercards are great, but I love 3 outta 3 of the HLers on Theo's, only 2 outta 3 for Trist 2. Bing, by a hair - this was a really tough call, both banging lineups top to bottom 3. cdev 4. Monie - Paul/Jaz Z/Jack is dope, wheres sry Fred but RHCP is a bit of an eyesore 5. Pepe - though really liked Kanye's lineup too 6. Kim 7. Jortles - though Prince veryyyyy nearly got me to veer over to Sang's, Jortles has the overall stronger lineup IMO 8. King T - like 'em both a lot though
in that case just assume one of my subs that is bigger than Sigur ros that you like is actually headlining.
All I wanna say to Monie is that Autechre is not a Yuma act lol
If Autechre were to play Coachella in 2021 I'd put money on them being in the Yuma.
Me saying that they're a good Yuma act isn't an insult, it's a compliment. It's a fucking sweet ass way to see a DJ at a festival. The Yuma is a fully enclosed tent that is only meant for electronic acts and it's one of those things that makes Coachella unique and interesting. It's dark and has cool lights and couches all around and it has a really awesome industrial warehouse rave vibe to it. At least that's what it makes me think of when I'm in there. It's such a cool setting to see a DJ and I've never seen anything like it at an American festival. So seeing most DJs in the Yuma would be a great experience. I'm not sure why you view it as some sort of insult or downgrade to put someone in there.
Didn't take it as an insult, they're (Autechre) just too big for Yuma in my opinion. But Yuma also booked Fatboy Slim for 2020 so what do I know

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

You bitter, boi?
no it’s just that I could not have Drake there and have AFP or grace Jones headlining and you’d like all three headliners but one of them would be equally unrealistic. Happy late birthday btw
Dragon Energy - I'd put AfP and Iggy as co-HL, but solid undercard, so this was an easy decision for me Bing - Not loving some of the cheese here, but overall the lineup is much better for my tastes
cdev - solid all around Fred
Pepe - I mean, Daft Punk. I like both lineups, but like Pepe's a bit more Kim
Jortles - this was tough JamesTheRam - Cocteau Twins.

This is true, but fwiw, Sigur would still win out for me over Grace or AFP. It was a close call tho! I'd def still attend your imaginary fest, bb!

I've gone through a phase recently where I don't immediately turn off a RHCP when I hear it. I've always liked what they do musically but at times (most of the time) I can't stand Keidis.
Theo - Bjork goes a long way here. Sigur Ros, Flying Lotus, Cat Power, Superorganism, IDLES, New Order, Beach House, Big Thiefs, gecs, WWPJ. A bunch of really solid stuff. I was also a pretty big Mac Miller fan after Swimming so love that pick. A lot to like on Dragon's including some acts I'll likely never see (Atoms for Peace, Grace Jones, The Streets, Orbital) and I also have not seen Fleet Foxes but none of the top 3 does much for me tbh and I would be more excited for the acts on Theo's.
Bing - I said Bing was in my top 3 and I stand by that. Kacey / Sufjan is a clever pairing and that second line on Friday is full of some nice acts. Some good lower names too with Noname, Japanese Breakfast, US Girls. Florence is consistent but doesn't excite me that much but she's followed by FKA immediately which more than makes up for it. The rest of that line is eh until Kamasi. Whitney, Amyl &the Sniffers is solid too. White Stripes is a slam dunk for me, not crazy about QOTSA tbh, Disclosure is a nice pick, love Courtney Barnett, CRJ is really solid too. Jaz is a really good one too and it sucks this division was so stacked. Tool does more for me since Roo got moved, haven't seen AF and the Em pick is risky but I like it next to Dre and Snoop. AnCo, badu, King Krule, Cohen, Earl, Royksopp. Some really nice genre diversity but not enough to overcome Bing for me. Also you kept Gaslamp Killer twice?
cdev - cdev has the fullest lineup by far imo. The top three is really nice and I haven't seen the Cure and I'm a big Rage guy. There might be a bit too much rock on the second lines (Beck is meh to me now, I'm not as hot on YYYs as most here, love Sturgill but I've seen him before) there's still a lot to like. Pablo's is great if you're really into the same music as him but I'm not really. Portishead is a super rare act so props, but I'm not crazy about Siouxsie and I like Massive Attack but I don't think he has a single headliner. Motorhead, TVOTR both really nice but not near enough to get my vote.
Monie - Paul, Jack, Jay-Z is more Bonnaroo-y but I love it so much that it almost overrides it for me. Never seen Paul, Jack White fanboy and I think Jay-Z is only second to Kanye in terms of all time best (solo) rap performers (and he may be #1 right now). I don't really see why Travis or Black Keys are on here. and the undercard certainly is thin but it's enough to get my vote for now. Fred's was my sleeper pick and this was a really close matchup for me. Really nice set of HLs, a good and diverse undercard. The Postal Service is especially nice but I just don't think there's enough for me to fill out a weekend personally.
Pepe - another top tier lineup imo and made even more impressive considering he didn't have a 2nd or 4th (and another high up one). Daft Punk is a slam dunk, Jamiroquai compliments that nicely, Empire of the Sun, Nick Murphy and Floating Points are all nice gets. Love The Weeknd, Pj, and Gesa. My two biggest critiques would be the lack of big rap and weak Sunday. Someone like a Vince Staples, Rocky, Earl, Denzel, Mac would've really done a lot for me here. Kanye has a nice set of HLs but really only one actual HL. I think if The Strokes played now (big IF) they wouldn't subHL again. M83, Kaytranada, MF Doom, Frank, Blood Orange, Stereolab are all nice picks but not enough to beat out Pepe here.
Kim Smoltz - Another tough one. I have seen 2 of Kim's HLs but I will see Bon Iver each time and I haven't seen Lana since I started liking what she put out. I think the subs aren't particularly Coachella-y but the size is mostly good and Bright Eyes does a lot for me. Amy Winehouse does more for me then any of Todd's HLs combined tbh. Todd suffers from the same issue imo. The subs are very white and not Coachella-y. NMH, Avalanches, Deafheaven, Justice, Nick Cave, etc all do a lot for me but I think it's missing one more big HL for me to feel much better about it. Would love to see Oasis, don't care for GnR and I wouldn't be hyped for Kendrick unless he changed his live set up or put out another classic.
sang - Sang nearly blew having Prince for me here but Blur and Pavement do a lot for me since I'll likely never see either. Jortles has some nice electronic, consistent HLs, and good genre balance but I think a lot of it is dated and not in the "rare old live act" sense. OMAM, Gnarls Barkley, Passion Pit, The Hives, Ellie Goulding, Pharcyde, Pretty Lights, Band of Horses, Naked and Famous and I think Migos time has mostly passed. I won't count this too much though since the pool is limited and size needs to be a factor. I just wish it was a bit more relevant. Sang certainly has this issue too (Stereophonics, why?) but he also has Prince and Mazzy Star so some sins can be forgiven. St V, Jamie xx, the Roots, GYBE FT/D/FP are all really nice pieces though. Very hard to vote against a Beastie Boys lineup.
King T - beautiful, incredible lineup from Tranter here. I think I'd be in trouble if JTR filled out his lineup more but a lot of his subs could be much lower.

no vote change, just explaining
Justice, At The Drive In, Pixies, Nick Cave, Ratatat, NMH are all very Coachella-y

I would be a bit surprised to see Pixies and ATDI play next year and certainly in tandem w DCFC, Franz Ferdinand, Belle & Sebastian and Foals all on the second line. You also don't have great gender diversity high up. Not including Digable Planets, you don't have one female led act on the top two lines of either day

I mean this is still a fantasy draft with infinity rules. Tbh with these infinity drafts I imagine we all died in the current year, went to heaven, now we're drafting our fantasy lineup. If I were really concerned with drafting a lineup without breaking Coachella's already established continuity, I'd have to ignore all of the artists that played the last couple of years. Which would just not be worth it. If we were doing a Bonnaroo draft I'd be fine with anyone ignoring The Other stage and booking a lineup in the style of 2013/2014. My lineup doesn't look much different from how 2015 was booked and personally that's fine with me.

I like 2 or 3 of their songs.
Scar Tissue & By the Way & Snow.
But overall, so sameeeey sounding and just, meh.
I think those are some of some of the ones that annoy me the most. I don't listen to radio often other than at work but every single time you turn on a radio they're on. With them it annoys me and with other bands I never get tired of it.

I'm not even sure I'd say I LIKE them, tbh--I think I enjoy them for nostalgia's sake. In which case, would have to throw in Californiacation too #middleschooldancevibes

Theo vs. Dragon Energy: I like DE's lineup, but it comes down to collective preference for Theo's HL'ers and Theo having a deep stable of names that would excite me. In regards to Sigur Ros, I think it's definitely fair to say that Sigur Ros is not a Coachella headliner, and if they were the set would probably be sparsely attended due to the narrowness of their appeal. That being said, I personally can not get excited for Iggy & the Stooges like I would be for Sigur Ros, and would much prefer a run of Beach House > New Order > Sigur Ros than Chris Stapleton > Public Enemy > Iggy. It's a hard balance between personal preference and what is "realistic", but preference wins out for me here.
Bing vs. Jaz: Bing's Friday HL'ers grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I am all about aesthetics (probably to a fault) - and I think Kacey and Sufjan complement each other extremely well. That said, In the same vein of Sigur Ros not being a Coachella HL'er, I think Sufjan is in the same space. The difference for me here is that I LOVE Kacey and I also think she will be headlining Coachella in the future. Additionally, Bing's entire Friday slate has me reserving my ticket now with a run of Hurray > Wolf Alice > Oh Wonder > Warpaint >Jhene or JB > The 1975 > Polica > Queen Kacey > Wu-Tang > Sufjan (With a hope of grabbing some of either NERO or Porter & Madeon). Also think Florence as the Saturday headliner fits really well, and I believe the White Stripes adds just enough of diversity in the headliners. Jaz's lineup was in my initial Top 5, but he was just unlucky to go up against my personal favorite to win.
cdevaney vs. pablo: Slightly embarrassed I had to look up who Siouxsie was, but you shouldn't be having to do that for a headliner imo. I do love Portishead and Massive Attack, but those are very questionable HL'ers as well. cdevaney's lineup is pretty solid top to bottom, and definitely feels like a very realistic Coachella lineup.
monie vs. fred: I love how monie's lineup has 3 slam dunk headliners - each in a different genre. I think it is complemented with some subs that I would be excited to see for the first time (Black Keys, the XX, BLACKPINK, MGMT, Kraftwerk). Some of the other subs feel like they are only there to fill out the different genres (Tory Lanez, David Guetta, Armin van Buren), but I suppose that can be said about real life Coachella as well.
Pepe Silvia vs. Silver Surfer:This one was the toughest choice for me. Silver Surfer has Frank Ocean, but collectively I think Pepe's headliners outweigh the knocks from me on not being a huge Prodigy fan and for Janelle Monae not being a headliner in my eyes. Both lineups have a ton of acts that I would love to see (including the #1 act that I have not yet seen - M83), but the strength of Pepe's lineup top to bottom wins out for me.
Kim Smoltz vs. Todd: Loved the Bon Iver & Lana pairing almost as much as Kacey & Sufjan. Also really liked the subs on Friday (AM, RTJ, & Khruangbin) and Amy Winehouse closing things down (Also if anyone hasn't seen "Amy" yet I would highly recommend checking it out - it includes a surprising amount of first hand video footage). NIN rounds out the headliners really well - and there are some interesting undercard names on Saturday too (Tom Misch, Explosions, FKJ, Robert DeLong. I personally just can't get excited for Todd's headliners, although I do really like some of the subs (Death Cab, Neutral, Justice, Pixies, Nick Cave, & Foals) and he definitely takes the cake for best poster design.
Jake Jortles vs. Sang: If I could see any artist who is no longer with us it would probably be a tie between Prince or Bowie - so that gets a ton of points from me (even if it was by virtue of a high draft pick). This was a tough choice as well, as I think JJ's did a better job supporting his headliners than Sang did, but the excitement for seeing Prince, Blur, & Muse for the first time pushes his lineup over the line.
King T vs. JamesTheRam: Really like King T's headlining trio, feel like each one would bring a different crowd and vibe. I'm a big fan of JTR's lineup too, I may have gone with his if he would have filled it out with more UDFA's.
Theo vs. Dragon Energy: I like DE's lineup, but it comes down to collective preference for Theo's HL'ers and Theo having a deep stable of names that would excite me. Dragon Energy Jaz Cdevaney Monie Silver Surfer Todd Jake Jortles King T
Note: I will not be voting in any later rounds. Having done the infinity draft twice I understand and appreciate the effort however these lineups are totally not my style and is very hard for me to judge
Theo - It's close, but Theo just has enough to put it over the edge for me. Even if Björk isn't a 2 she's still a really valuable HLer, and pairs really well w Beyoncé. Tristan has a ton of stuff i like but it's not enough to beat that top 2 for me. and empty field or not, a Sigur Ros sunday headlining set would be magical.
Bing - I think the friday Co-headlining duo works really well, and The White Stripes do a lot for me. I think Bing is the only person who's weakest day is Saturday, but it's not so weak it drags him down enough to lose this matchup. if i liked Tool as much as the rest of Inforoo Jaz would likely have my vote here but The White Stripes + Sufjan just does more for me.
Cdev - obvi Cdev is really strong. He's got a ton of stuff for me in the top 10, but i think it's missing a few solid electronic acts. i think pablo really could have benefited from a cheap HLer.
Monie - It may look a little bit too much like a Bonnaroo lineup, but i still think it's strong enough to win this matchup. Fred easily has the strongest day out of the two lineups w his Friday, but between his Saturday and Sunday all i'd really be into is Danny Elfman, Miguel, and Prydz. Gaga is great, but not quite my thing. RHCP + Fruciante would have caught my eye in HS but my taste has just shifted away from them over the years, and now i just really don't care for em. Monie just has 3 solid days with 3 very solid headliners, and enough subs to put it over the top.
Pepe Silvia Todd - Very close, but Kim's subs just don't do a ton for me, and i'm not the biggest Lana fan. Oasis looks better here than they do in the Infinity draft imo. Also between Kendrick, GnR, Justice, and The Avalanches, Todd has managed to grab a bunch of sets that I was able to actually see at Coachella that I loved, so he' just gets the edge for me.
Jortles - Beatie Boys + Gorillaz is fantastic, and even though I don't care for Lizzo the Saturday subs of Jamie xx + St. Vincent + Phoenix totally make up for it. Sang's lineup has grown on me somewhat, but following Prince with Duran Duran, Interpol, and Major Lazer just kinda squashes the momentum for me.
King T - def the hardest one. if JTR had a deeper lineup he'd prob win it, as Cocteau Twins + LCD + Chem Bros is right up my alley, but Roger Waters + Outkast is also great, and T has strong enough Subs to go along with a pretty deep undercard, and it just makes the difference.
This one actually ended up tied based on the lineups, both made schedules and posters. Theo got the edge (72 to 67) based his poster being easier to read.
This was a battle of undercards for me because neither had headliners that I'm super excited about. (I think that I would have billed the Bros over the Twins.) Neither did schedules.
Edit: just realized that bolding usernames is kind of hard to read. Winners now underlined as well.
