and it also interests me how confident yall are that you will be able to see shows again generally soon, especially in america.
we're too incompetent to arm our health care workers with the basics. half the country, including the president, is actively working against flattening the curve. how the hell are we going to effectively and efficiently administrate a vaccine to the point that we can go back to a level of normalcy that we could have 30,000 person stadium shows again?
in my honest view, everyone is an infinity act right now.
I have been about as pessimistic about COVID than anyone on this board but there will be live music again. There will never be another Prince concert.
yes there eventually will be live music but it could genuinely be YEARS, and who knows what size well be able to reach? will we really be able to get the point of being able to hold massive shows again for the radioheads, kanyes, beyonces of the world? or does it get to the point they just say fuck it and retire from live music? the industry taking this much time off is going to have major ripple effects that we can't foresee at this time.
and i've never said anything ab prince, as far as im concerned his value in this thing is accurate.
I don’t get what’s so bad about scheduling acts with some slight overlap rather than 100% overlap.
Would need to have my memory jogged on specific examples, but there is a ton of unnecessary overlap on a lot of schedules.
just saying that in general scheduling acts directly against each other looks better than having like a bunch of acts half overlapping throughout the day. I was just curious what y’all thought was better about direct overlap rather than the second. Kinda a different topic but personally I don’t think having so bad clashes is that big of a deal in this draft because every lineup is so good it’s impossible to avoid some bad clashes. For me if I can go through the day and always have stuff I like to see I’ll be happy even if I have to miss some good stuff as well.
Naming a certain schedule/line up 'filled with B and C acts/artists' is not nice either, trantsgiving and completely boils down to your own taste in music.
its not really a bad thing lmao, Fielder has a ton of what I think are “B” names and I praised his. Am I supposed to be super stoked about everyone’s lineup? Nothing I said was rude or “not nice”.
Let's face it, none of us are seeing ANY concerts any time soon anyway. So that argument is kinda lame
Its not lame. I was supposed to go see Prince, who is my favorite artist of all time and I hadnt seen before, in 2015 in DC and something came up and I had to miss the show. I think about missing that show all the time.
Sure we will miss out on a year or two of music but you just simply cant see dead artists.
Dude I also missed that exact same fucking show, Prince in DC 2015, and at the time was like "is ok, will catch him another time!"
And now....yeah :/
At least I have him on my nerd fantasy music fest lineup!!!! Thats the same right?! /s

Lmao what's wrong with A$AP Mob and Boy Better Know? First of all I drafted A$AP Mob to let them do their tapes cause I actually like the first one a lot.. (idk why I even need to specify that or why that would matter cause they're not doing covers anyways) and BBK? Really? I didn't think actually cared that much about grime to begin with or were aware that he founded the label with Jme so idk, I thought it was very UK/European type of act that wouldn't be such a big thing. Idk how that's soo rough or anything.
Also what are you talking about not being a lot of 'infinity'? All my three headliners are dead/inactive, I'm closing each day with an infinity type artist on my second stage (before the HLer) and during the day you've stuff like Eric B & Rakim, En Vogue, Sun Ra, Sal-n-Pepa, Anita Baker and not to mention all of the legendary African pioneers you completely branched over, idk. That's a weird point to make towards my line up/schedule. Cause a few podcasts aago someone said that having only Tyler on top of my line up made it seem that there wasn't a lot of newer stuff on there and now you're saying the exact opposite?
why are you holding me accountable for someone else saying Tyler up there was bad?
The hell do I know who it was, I'm not pointing fingers towards anyone in particular here just towards the people who were on the podcast in general. You're part of the podcast host team or whatever, you're a collective so since both were brought up on on the podcast on two occassions, I feel like mentioning it cause it felt weird that one day my line up wasn't all that 'new' and the next day it isn't 'infinity' enough. Anyone who is a host or were part of the pod are free to elaborate.. or not lol.
JTR commented on the second part and I understand his point about it.

Guests who come on are allowed to have their own opinions and I’m pretty sure it was teddy and we disagreed with him. Regardless, there’s different opinions on the pod. It wouldn’t be worth listening to if there weren’t.

yeah i can see why a straight up block schedule is less frustrating in the context of this game, but in real life i can say that staggered schedules like always feel like im actually experiencing more.

The reason festivals do this is to avoid crowded situations of people moving from stage to stage.
honestly feel like people like the block schedule because it literally just looks better on a clashfinder when everything lines up nicely, but yeah that’s why I asked what their reasoning was.
