Agree. The tent screws up sight lines for anyone outside of it. And with only 2 stages (maybe set up so there’s no artist overlap?), I expect both of them to be crowded for performances.
I’d prefer a situation where Newport just added some tents in the back of the lawns to give people a chance to get out of the sun.
Oh man, the sight lines from outside aren't ideal but the Quad Tent creates a special intimacy for those uniquely Newport moments that are so moving for both the artist and audience.

They can still have the chairs and be intimate. Just no tent.
Randy Newman’s not a headliner, even this year I think. Although idk how much a “headliner” situation there’ll be at all. Pretty sure he would’ve been a Harbor Stage closer last year. Fleet Foxes aren’t prepped at all for full band shows from what I can tell from Robin’s Instagram, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he stopped by again.
MMJ seems possible given they’re touring and playing other fests.

I’m expecting more collab closing sets
You think Randy Newman would have ended up on the Harbor Stage? I see where you’re coming from on that as other legendary acts have ended up in that slot, I just feel like he has too much name recognition and mainstream appeal. He sort of falls right after the top tier of acts on NOLA Jazz Fest lineup (with those all acts probably being headline caliber at a Newport type fest). I’d put him in a Warren Haynes set in a regular year, but I could see him closing a stage out or leading into a singalong collaboration in a weird year like this.
Throwing my hat at headliners: My Morning Jacket Deer Tick & Friends A John Prine Tribute Jason Isbell & Friends (mini DBT reunion) Brandi Carlile Some type of Newport sing-along superjam

This looks much more realistic and highly probable. Do we think Isbell is a bigger pull than Tweedy? Isbell is the only one I’m not convinced is a headliner

He’s arguably a bigger pull than Wilco these days and already headlined

Interesting, I must be off kilter but in my mind Wilco is totally a bigger draw than Isbell. Kind of thought he was losing steam

Isbell is bigger than pretty much everyone else on that list

I’d probably pick a Wilco show over an Isbell show these days but he’s got a lot more relevance right now, even if it’s not quite where it was 2015-2017

Isbell is fine, he's not my cup of tea necessarily but he's good. I totally agree though, I'd 100% see Wilco over Isbell if given the chance.

In the initial announcement for NFF this year jay said there would be instances in which you would walk upon someone in a chair out in the grass and it might be John McCauley workshopping how to play ashamed or someone playing a solo set. Do we really think this is still a part of the fest or did he get. Little carried away. That seems really unrealistic to pull off. Like maybe they do one or two of these but maybe I’m mistaken but it almost felt like he implied the fest would happen this way with a small amount of stage sets as well. Did I misinterpret
Brandi can be there as long as there's something else going on
I feel this but I feel like Brandi surround herself with good artists and in this environment it’s highly likely she has killer guests. I’d much rather see here perform with other artists than a Brandi Solo set

Have any of you been to shows since we’ve started to reopen? I was only curious because I was finally reading the requirements for attending and they mentioned how they want everyone to be comfortable since it is most likely the first time you’ve reentered a crowd. I think that was a reason why they initially decided no tent because people would crowd underneath.

All of a sudden there are hot takes and way-too-optimistic lineup guesses on this thread again. Nature is Healing.
Lyte came thru with 4 friday tickets last night, I'm over the moon. I don't care what it's like, I don't care that I can only swing one day, being back at the fort after two full years away is gonna be a dream come true.
