And this is the issue with surprise lineups. You’re always going to assume more than what you get, which plays into potential for disappointment. Even with tame expectations, this is less than what I was expecting.
(I’m not claiming that this is a bad lineup. Just surprising.)

All of the "Dates TBA" artists now just have their weekend date listed. If none are crossing over for official sets during the weekdays then we have 4 more slots open. Would be happy to see one or two of those go to Yola and Waxahatchee, but i'll take some surprises as well
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

wondering who is headlining the weekdays aside from Beck, honestly
As a weekend attendee, there are three immediate happy surprises (though not that shocking): 1. Nathaniel Rateliff... can't get enough of him and happy to have two sets 2. Allison Russell. Have been loving her new album. Shocked/pleased that they are giving her a closing set on Sunday. Imagine it is a collaborative set that she is facilitating like Jon Baptiste. 3. Phosphorescent.
Only disappointment is no Jeff Tweedy/Wilco. Also see myself wanting to be at the lawn stage a lot and always struggle with the sun all day.
Last note... have never heard of Demeanor.
yeah i tried to google Demeanor and only got a grindcore band from Kentucky

Middle Brother and Deer Tick probably, or Deer Tick subs for a collab closer

Bleachers, Phosphorescent, and Rateliff were all on Jay’s playlist. Bleachers and Rateliff were removed once Jay publicized the playlist. Rateliff and Phosphorescent made it onto the weekend lineup. Maybe Bleachers for the weekday? (Or was Jay just digging their new tracks and added it for fun.)

Brandi for one. Didn’t you say Avetts are playing? What’s left?
Put together my own schedule and feel it is packed with talent. Am also curious about the workshops and hopeful that some of the greats from the weekdays make their way to the busking (Langhorne, Anais, Fruitbats, etc.)
Friday 12:00 Resistance Revival Chorus - 1:00 Walk Around, check out busking 3:00 Shakey Graves 4:30 Marcus King & Start of Grace Potter 6:00 Rateliff and the Night Sweats
Saturday 12:00 Yasmin Williams 1:30 Phosphorescent 3:00 Joy Oladokun 4:30 Randy Newman 5:30 Andrew Bird Check out Isbell Set
Sunday 11:30 Tre Burt 1:30 Kevin Morby 3:00 Caamp 3:45 Billy Stings 5:05 Nathaniel rateliff 6:00 Allison Russell

Great schedule when you put it in context by mapping out a reasonable weekend.

If I was doing the weekend, I think I'd have a similar schedule. Swap Shakey for Lucy and Caamp for Gilfillian. The Waxahatchee/Randy overlap is a bummer, I'd go for Randy. The closing Allison set sounds cool

I didn't see this, is it still listed that way?
Yeah on the 2021 Artists page Waahatchee, Yola, Joy Oladokun, and Ida Mae now only show the date they were just announced for
Friday definitely looks like the best day of the three. (And I expect 1 or 2 of the weekdays to look even better.) I'm not mad that I returned my tickets on Lyte. Would've lost my shit if there had been a big surprise headliner like Bruce or Taylor, but that was never realistic anyway. Looks like I'll make my first ever appearance at Folk next year when things are more normal. Have fun everyone.
Given our weekend “headliners,” Middle Brother and Ben Gibbard both seem big enough to “headline.”
Jason Isbell and Nathaniel Rateliff each get about 2,000,000 spotify listens per month.
Middle Brother gets about 100,000.
Middle Brother is Newport Folk royalty!! Plus very rare to see them play together. Not saying they are def going to headline but they are much closer to those other bands in regard to love from NFF fans than Spotify stats would imply.
