I feel like we'll see a similar demographic with TANP, as even with a few younger-appealing acts like Phoebe, many of those names recently played LA. The Strokes' audience is basically a 1:1 overlap with Interpol's too. I do think Sunday will be the more crowded and potentially younger day of the two.
JLH was crowded but never uncomfortably so, so despite not selling out, I think it did come close.

I think TANP will come close to just being how FYF was. Theres a nice mix of punk and dance like FYF used to have along with the big draw indie darlings. Beach House and Mac Demarco will have a young crowd for sure. Sunday having Descendants and Idles would translate to a little older, but the kids wanna see Turnstile also. Le Tigre def goonna have the old heads out cause its the only gig til next year. PSLA is gonna be an older crowd most def except for the Arctic Monkeys day most likely.
JLH more or less sold out, I mean they got cleaned out of all their merch along with a good chunk of band specific merch. They for sure killed it in alcohol sales cause of the cool weather. It easily explains why there were a handful of people trying to get medics to help out in the crowd.

That last Strokes album in 2020 got a lot of radio play and I'm not sure Interpol has had anything you could consider a hit since 2007. There's definitely younger Strokes fans that probably haven't even heard of Interpol
I think TANP will be much younger. Other than the headliners, it's mostly bands that are on the rise or still vital. As The Hives, said, JLH was the 2005 class reunion, and it felt more like a group that was reliving their glory days with nostalgia than wanting to see acts play their current stuff. I think 95% of the JLH crowd hasn't heard of 90% of the bands playing TANP.
I could see a Scissor Sisters reunion playing this and doing well.
Yeah, especially with the proximity it might have with La pride calendar wise. Theyre def due to come back and somebody has a bag out there for them Jake shears solo was a lot of fun so I doubt theyll have lost too much of a step with performing after a decade.

A friend if mine, age 40 who went to JLH and Cruel World told me he’s only heard of a handful of TANP acts. However the headliners alone are probably a good draw for people that old who still want to go to fests. That said, my friend hasn’t bought tickets for TANP.

I’ve been hearing more buzz for TANP lately in my friend group (28-35) but no one has bought a ticket yet. They consider me the festival guy but when they ask I say I’m waiting last minute but I know they aren’t last minute goers. They will have plans before I have tickets lol
ok so theres the 80s indie festival (cruel world) and the 00/early 10s indie festival (jlh)
what would a 90s indie festival put on by GV look like and who would be there?
my guess (very unrealistic and I admit that but let me have my fun):
Fiona Apple Blur Pavement Aphex Twin Slowdive Sleater-Kinney Kim Gordon Sterolab Ride Guided By Voices Teenage Fanclub Built To Spill
if they're feeling bold throw in nas or wu-tang maybe
The 90s bands you listed and the 00s bands that have played JLH kind of blend together, or at least have a lot more similarity, than the 80s bands. I’m not sure 90s would have enough differentiation to JLH to justify a separate festival.
Problem with the 90's is that theres been plenty of cheesy 90's fests so its kinda been done. And if you had a lineup like that it would be a senior citizen convention

M83's tour dates when they first announced earlier had Just Like Heaven on it for Pasadena, CA on 5/13. So that's your first confirmation plus confirms dates and location.
Beyond that, I imagine there's some crossover with Kilby Block Party. The Walkmen seem like an extremely obvious candidate, and Osees and Parquet Courts would make sense too. Maybe Caroline Polachek but that's questionable.
Headliner wise, Pavement seems to make the most sense to share with Kilby. Strokes seem too big and YYY's played in 2019 (plus I think they may play Coachella). Beyond that, both The National and Fleet Foxes are touring in may and either would make sense
Interpol & The Walkmen 11.23 I Am Morbid/Suffocation 11.26 King Diamond 11.29 Sadistic Intent/Massacre 11.30 70K Tons Of Metal 2025 Hell's Heroes 2025 Sick New World 2025 Maryland Deathfest 2025
I was about to make a new thread for this. I think all the tour confirmations makes this fest all but confirmed. If only Coachella wasn’t holding it up …
